More from Stephen Pavlovic about The Cure

From SX: "The crown jewel of Pav’s program is unquestionably English legends The Cure, who will play their first three albums live, in their entirety, in a concert titled Reflections on May 31 and June 1. Reflections is exclusive to Vivid Live. “I was already dealing with [The Cure frontman] Robert Smith about doing a vocal on a track with one of my other artists, so when the Vivid thing came to me I used the conversations I was already having with him to go ‘hey I’m also doing this project at the Opera House, would you consider playing at it?’!

“I’m very excited. That band means a lot to me – they were a major part of my formative years. And Robert’s awesome. He’s very particular and direct and approachable. He manages himself and any Cure-related projects, so it was amazing that I could just email him directly! Every email from him comes as ‘Aloha!’ – ‘Aloha Pav! I’m like, wow, ‘Aloha Robert!’” (Thanks Heron)

  7. Thanks Craig
I hope those lost songs show up one day without the creaks and hisses. Maybe with ROD back, who contributed to them i suppose, they can someway be released. Or would they have been re-recorder with Porl?

  10. It is so strange to me how there seems to be a consensus that we would all put WMS, The Cure and 4:13 near the bottom of our Cure album rankings. However, what we don't like on those records is drastically different from person to person. For example I really like Want and Numb from WMS and loathe Round & Round & Round and detest Bare (oh how I loved the Swing shows I attended that closed with Disintegration or End). On The Cure I actually like most of the songs on there. It is uneven to be sure and feels like a compilation rather than an album. Still I hate Lost and Us or Them and Never so much that I only went to 1 Curiosa show (the 2 hour sets had something to do with that as well). On the last record I don't like pretty much anything other than Underneath the Stars and Hungry Ghost but there isn't anything apart from Freakshow that I just can't stand.

I am sure there are many others who would say that the songs I don't like are their faves and I don't think that would happen too much on pre Wish records...just a thought.

Since were throwing out trilogy ideas I'll go with Disintegration Wish and Bloodflowers. Or an all non album track show...Burn, It Used to be Me, Too Late, Play, Scared as You, Your God is Fear, Just One Kiss, I'm Cold, Chain of Flowers....ahhh to wish impossible things ;)

  14. Aloha Craig, any way you can get word to Pav and ask him to ask Robert to share some of that ALOHA with the islands!!! Would love to see them here, and The Cure have never played in Hawaii to my knowledge! Come on Robert, come to the ALOHA State!!!!!

  19. LIKE MANY OTHER CURE FANS, I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE MORE ALBUMS PLAYED IN FULL. FIRSTLY I’D LIKE TO SEE “THE TOP” & “WMS” PLAYED TOGETHER.

    HERE’S THE CATCH –

AS WELL AS THE BAND, I WOULD ALSO HAVE AN ORCHESTRA JOIN THE BAND ON STAGE TO GIVE THE STRINGS & BRASS SOUNDS (USUALLY DONE ON KEYS - SORRY RODGER – MUCH RESPECT) A MORE VIBRANT EXPEIRENCE

    LASTLY –

AS FOR “THE HEAD ON THE DOOR” – YEAH I’D LOVE TO HEAR THAT IN FULL TOO BUT I’D LUV TO HEAR IT PLAYED IN REVERSE – STARTING WITH SINKING & FINISHING WITH INBETWEEN DAYS.

  20. How awesome is it that this show is under 2 weeks away?

The Lol & Roger roles of keys/percussion for these shows intrigues me - what are the chances of Lol having a set of toms to add extra rolls to songs like Doubt or All Cats Are Grey...?

    Food for thought.

Looking forward to hearing those glorious synth lines of All Cats Are Grey & Funeral Party fill that room
