Mike Hedges interview

In keeping with the theme of celebrating 30 years of 'A Forest', here's an interview with Mike Hedges from Dec. 2004, that was published in Sound on Sound magazine. (Thanks jandmpowell)

  1. I really miss Greg Dempsey on bass!

  2. Wasn't he just the best? I know everyone thinks Simon is a bass god, but have those people ever heard Greg's work with The Cure? I'm going to say no. : )

  5. I didn't know his name was Greg... I knew it was Michael. Or is he Greg Michael or Michael Greg? :)

About his skills: Dempsey did a wonderful job in the debut album and I've also heard a bootleg with him playing A Forest live, before Simon joined the band.

Michael (Greg) had a great groove, and great bass licks. I've always liked his style.

  7. Very interesting article. The loop thing explains a lot of the almost "drum machinish" sounds on 17 Seconds.
