Exactly perfect-murder! God knows I've tried to distract myself with any little tidbits of Cure stuff posted, but I'm at the point where I just want album news; conver art, tracklisting, run time, credits, anything! =)
i bet the Poms in Oz and AUS fans will love this! very good of the aussie music press to do this - great title :). i think we should all move to australia, when was the last time the cure were featured in any publication?
jo- you sure distracted me! :D god how cool. i dont know if they are the MOST influential band ever but they are one of those bands where when you fall in love, you fall hard and you fall forever.
thanks for scanning!!! theres an international newsshop around the corner from me. im going to see if i cant find jmagazine there!
i was a little perplexed to see, when asked what their favorite cure song was, damn near everyone said 'a forest' or 'close to me'
why is the type here suddenly microscopic? did something in my browser change or is craig trying to minimize the font so as to dissuade me from posting tomes as comments?
jolise: you gonna send us all a jmag as a token of our cof peep love?
anyway, is the minimizing of the font craig's sly metaphorical way of saying that we don't matter to him anymore? *sniff*
as for my fave cure song: that would be a toss-up between holy hour, figurehead, bloodflowers, and LOST. yup, i likes me some lusciously dark CURE. :-)
of course, freakshow is rapidly becoming a fave as well.
what does "triple J" mean? in the joy division cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart, robert mentions something about "triple J" or at least tthats what i think i hear... anyone care to explain please?
I'm a huge Cure fan based on Australia and I have to say, 'most influential band ever'? I don't think so.
And this article pretty much proved it. Here we have a tiny, tiny sample of relatively low key artists saying they are influenced by The Cure. So what?
A couple of years back, NME ran a far larger survey of contemporary musicians, asking for their biggest influence. The winner was David Bowie, with The Beatles coming in second.
Both of these acts (along with Dylan, the Stones etc etc) have had a far bigger influence on far more bands than The Cure.
I'm not saying that this is a good thing. I love The Cure utterly. But honestly folks, until post-punk became hip again (and that fad will come and go) nobody was referencing The Cure.
I take it that is a rag from Down UNDER?
ReplyDeleteI love the title: "Are The Cure the Most Influential Band Ever?" My resounding answer to that would be: Hellz yes MOFOS!
The Cure are also the Best Band Ever.
Hyperbole rulz - especially when it's true.
Cat - yes, it is an Oz magazine.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to see the band featured?!

ReplyDeleteThanks again Elise!
ReplyDeleteNo worries, Craig!
ReplyDeleteI love being able to share with my Cure buddies :)
Elise: It is WONDERFUL to see them featured. It made my heart skip a beat - maybe several. ;-)
ReplyDelete*waves wildly to craig*
*frowns when craig ignores her*
*goes back into hiding*
I'm glad the Bloc Party links are there. Bloc Party are the best UK band since...well...The Cure.
ReplyDeleteCould not agree more with the Bloc Party comment..they are very good indeed..
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree about Bloc Party. They are fantastic. Kruezberg. I could listen to that song forever. Beautiful song.
ReplyDeletetry their new album, available on their site..And listen to Signs, simply beautiful..
ReplyDeleteCome on, Robert, show us the cover art for the new album already!
ReplyDeletejpx...never give in!!!
ReplyDeleteExactly perfect-murder! God knows I've tried to distract myself with any little tidbits of Cure stuff posted, but I'm at the point where I just want album news; conver art, tracklisting, run time, credits, anything! =)
ReplyDeleteJPX - I'm sorry my distraction wasn't enough :(
ReplyDeleteBut I understand - I want album news too
"There's a Cure song for everyone"; and may I add for everything and everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThe Cure is the perfect soundtrack for any lifetime...
and thanks for sharing Elise!
ReplyDeleteJupitermain - HI!
ReplyDeleteJust before I head to the Land of Nod - yes, and there is also
a Cure for every mood.
hi!
ReplyDelete"land of nod": got to check that at google...
This just in: Cover art is a pic of Robert's face, with two clocks for eyes that say 4:13. His mouth says Dream.
ReplyDeleteAltr2elise, I appreciate any and all distractions, but I want 4:13 in my CD player post haste!
ReplyDeleteWhat a ugly cover !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elise!
ReplyDeleteSo, this, of course, means that JJJ is actually playing the new stuff, right?
ReplyDeletefake news reports make bunny sad.
ReplyDeleteIs that the cover on the official site? It's white with the barely discernible 4:13 at the bottom?
ReplyDeleteWhere is this magazine sold?
ReplyDeleteBlogger altr2elise said...
ReplyDeleteCat - yes, it is an Oz magazine.
Isn't it great to see the band featured?!

and jpx: maybe this is the cure's answer to the white album?
ReplyDeleteseriously, i think it's robert's way of saying that the album is slowly but surely making its way into the world.
That is not the most flattering drawing of Robert. :<
ReplyDeletePerhaps Robert is slowly revealing the cover? That would be a cool reveal.
ReplyDeletei bet the Poms in Oz and AUS fans will love this!
ReplyDeletevery good of the aussie music press to do this - great title :). i think we should all move to australia, when was the last time the cure were featured in any publication?
Anah - I agree totally about the drawing of Robert. I dislike (immensely) that they have given him a mono-brow - WTF!!!!!!
ReplyDeletejo- you sure distracted me! :D
ReplyDeletegod how cool. i dont know if they are the MOST influential band ever but they are one of those bands where when you fall in love, you fall hard and you fall forever.

xo
Elise: He looks like a clown! :(
ReplyDeleteSofia: What is your favorite Cure song?
Sofia - let me know if you can't get the magazine.
ReplyDeletewhy is the type here suddenly microscopic? did something in my browser change or is craig trying to minimize the font so as to dissuade me from posting tomes as comments?
ReplyDeletejolise: you gonna send us all a jmag as a token of our cof peep love?
woo! an AUSSIE mag! :) and the CURE is in it?? AUSSOME lol this calls for a celebration! *buys keg*
ReplyDeletelol and what is "ROBBIE BUCK'S BUCK NIGHTS"?? haha
ReplyDeleteI like the smaller type, Cat. Don't have to do as much scrolling down!
ReplyDeleteanah,
ReplyDeletegah. i have no idea. maybe 2late? you know, it changes every day.
i don't really mind the cover. i like seeing different artistic representations of robert.
xo
the font is not smaller on my work computer.
ReplyDeletewait, i'm supposed to be working. oops!
anyway, is the minimizing of the font craig's sly metaphorical way of saying that we don't matter to him anymore? *sniff*
as for my fave cure song: that would be a toss-up between holy hour, figurehead, bloodflowers, and LOST. yup, i likes me some lusciously dark CURE. :-)

It's only you Cat, fontwise.
ReplyDeletefontwise cat?
ReplyDeleteFontwise Cat and Sofia:
ReplyDeleteIt's definitly hard to pinpoint just one favorite Cure song. How about the one you would want played at your funeral? Or your wedding?
wedding: funeral party. funeral: lovesong.
ReplyDeleteCat rulz!
ReplyDelete:) i have a song picked out for my wedding already. it's breathe.
ReplyDeleteand my funeral? doing the unstuck.
This is very cool (and an interesting read, too)! Thanks a lot Jo (Elise) and Craig :D :D :D
ReplyDelete*waves at Jenny*
ReplyDeleteHey Elise :D (waves back)
ReplyDeleteSorry I've been busy at work and couldn't sneak in here to talk once in a while like I used to. :/ But I've always been here, visible or not. :)
JJJ haven't been playing the new stuff. I only head "The only one" in a snippet when they mentioned the new album in their music news.
ReplyDeletewhat does "triple J" mean? in the joy division cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart, robert mentions something about "triple J" or at least tthats what i think i hear... anyone care to explain please?
ReplyDeleteCarlos - Triple J is a radio station in Australia. It is considered the youth radio station, and plays the more alternative music.
ReplyDeleteWallyd - I haven't heard any of the new songs on JJJ either
Elise- thank you:)
ReplyDeleteOnce again I'm behind on the news.
ReplyDeleteThanks elise for the article and to craig for posting it! Good read but that picture of Robert is dead awful.
