  2. I hope tonight you´ll feel better RS.

    Best wishes.

P.S.Try not to harm more your damaged voice, take it easy.....

    ReplyDelete
  3. Craig, any real clue about the 2 new songs ?

I hope they play it again...

    ReplyDelete
  4. Nothing 100% confirmed, but the first song is said to Underneath The Stars. The second is unknown.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Thanks, nothing left but stay to know the truth.

If the songs are played tonight, i hope this time somebody record them...

    Good Evening-Night at everyone.

Following closely the setlist and everything from Mexico City.

    Good Luck CURE, Craig :-)

  6. a sleepless night watching the champions league final and now waiting for a gig the other side of the world. I get the feeling im living in the wrong continent. morning everyone...should get to work...at some stage...

    ReplyDelete
  7. i'm going to go off the rails here and guess that the heavy rock song is called 'lusting here in your mind.' !!!

  9. ml68 - I definitely think we are on the wrong continent. It is just wrong that I should be at work while the concert is happening, and to make matters worse, I have back to back meetings (including a few overlaps)starting in half an hour.
I'm very sad that I am not going to be able to join in with todays festivities.

    ReplyDelete
  10. What an amazing looking venue to see The Cure. Here's to "V" getting an amazing show, and here's to Robert's healing vocal chords.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Craig - I'm sending you an email. Take a look. I think it's cool.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Tim - the venue looks amazing - I can see why everyone was so excited about getting to see The Cure there.
How fantastic if they open with Underneath the Stars again.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hallo Craig- And you are eastern Time, right? I´m from germany, so i don´t know exactly your time zones.

    ReplyDelete
  14. altr2elise: yeah, I was in Colorado last Fall and made it a point to go see the venue. Unfortunately, there was nothing going on while I was there...but then again, it was bitter cold in November. I don't think they have any shows after September for that reason.

The lucky locals will get to see REM there in a few weeks too. I can't complain, I'll be seeing them here in June too.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 10:30pm? But Iwant them now!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Bernie: figure on another 90 minutes or so before they hit the stage.

    ReplyDelete
  17. v said that she would try to grab some of the new songs, she's there tonight.

    I'm so jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Good luck tonight, let's hope Bob makes it through at least 30 songs.

    ReplyDelete
  19. altr2elise-I heard they had snow there last week ...

    ReplyDelete
  20. He could do some of the softer songs from Bloodflowers tonight. Wouldn't be that demanding on his voice, I guess...

Anyway, hope Robert's condition is better tonight!

    BTW, good morning everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Bernie - how cool about the snow. Hard to imagine from Australia.

Jenny - I agree, if the could pick some of the softer songs it would save his throat. A Faith encore may be the call.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think, maybe the best song for his voice would be `carnage visors´;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. altr2elise, maybe Denver fans are in for a special setlist tonight! Even if Robert is not at his best, listening songs from Bloodflowers and Faith would be worth it (at least for me). I just hope that Robert would drop some of the songs with high voice ranges tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jenny - I agree, I would LOVE a concert of the softer songs from those albums. Throw in To Wish Impossible Things and a few b-sides, and it would be Just Like Heaven for me.

    ReplyDelete
  25. They should be playing BF songs anyway, but yes, tonite is the perfect nite for that, given the venue, his vocal probs ,etc.

I wish I was there - stunning venue.

    ReplyDelete
  26. They should do another Hotel Conrad-type set.

    ReplyDelete
  27. wow, yeah that venue looks awesome.. wow (swoons).

    ReplyDelete
  28. whats the address to watch the show?

    ReplyDelete
  29. So did anyone check out the webcam before it was shut off? Was there anything interesting cure-wise?

    ReplyDelete
  30. JPX, that's the one I was thinking about!! And Out of this World, too. How I love these songs.

    ReplyDelete
  31. jpx: Last Day of Summer is amazing, but even better IMO is Loudest Sound, as far as lush Bloodflowers ballads.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think Out of This World might be the best Cure song in the past 10 years!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Annie - There was last night. You could see the load-in, setup and testing of the lights. But they cut it off before the soundcheck today.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm really glad to see the BF love. I've been obsessed with that album since Trilogy. I could eat that album.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love Loudest Sound, terrific lyrics.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  37. I play "The Last Day of Summer" on the last day of summer every year. Yes I know I'm a nerd.

    ReplyDelete
  38. jpx - Out Of This World is my all-time favourite. The waves of music just wash over me every time I hear it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Altr3elise, when the piano kicks in I get chills. It's that classic Cure sound. It sounds like it came straight off of Disintegration.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I saw several different people(hikers maybe) in white tshirts hanging around inside the ampitheater for a few mins...if they only knew I was watching and how envious I was of their current geography. I'm about to attempt an OOBE! If I can't dance back to the body on my bed somebody please haul my comatose body off to Atlanta next month...it can catch up with me there.

    ReplyDelete
  41. jpx - I agree. When I went travelling in 2001 I didn't take any music with me (pre-iPod days), the first thing I did when I got home was put on Bloodflowers and it was like I found my breath again. I never travel without music now.

    ReplyDelete
  42. ooooh, beachy I was confused I thought you were at the show tonite.. I sent you a pm on mfc, I am lisalovecat there..

    ReplyDelete
  43. I believe I’ll burst into tears if I ever see these BF songs live. Hell, the second disc of Trilogy almost got me into tears.

    ReplyDelete
  44. jpx, I played Snow in Summer on my college radio show in the late Spring, and I've played the Cocteau Twins song Throughout the Dark Months of April and May in April and May (not on my radio show).

    ReplyDelete
  45. Snow in Summer, awesome! I'd love to hear some of those older b-sides like Sugar Girl and A Japanese Dream.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Come on, bring it on Robeet !!!

Kick off with the new 1 !!!

Let´s set on fire Red Rocks !!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I hope anyone at the show would record Underneath the Stars this time!! Com'on Denver!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Underneath the Stars - I hope v has the video recording.

    ReplyDelete
  49. okay, so if V didn't record this, I'll hunt her down!

    ReplyDelete
  50. guess this webcam thing was too good to be true ??

    ReplyDelete
  51. YES!!! v, I"m sending you happy thoughts, now sample it girl!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm in agony here... I MUST HEAR THIS SONG.

And I want to hear the whole album NOW. I have become obsessed anew. I go months and months not listening to the Cure and now I can't stop listening to the new stuff, which then compels me to listen to the old stuff, which I haven't done in a while. Anyway, I WANT TO HEAR THIS SONG!

    ReplyDelete
  53. That's not the only b-side that I played during my time there, and not the only rarity. I once opened a show with the 12" extended remix of Why Can't I Be You?, and later during the same show, I combined the studio versions of Jumping Someone Else's Train and Another Journey By Train. It was fun finding just the right point to mix the second into the first.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Without hearing the song - "waves crashing" and "stars on the screen" already has me thinking I am gonna love it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Clockwise, it's the same for me. I'm absolutely obsessed with getting this damn album. I've been listening to old stuff like crazy recently. I need to hear Underneath the Stars right now, damnit!

    Shawn, that's way cool!

    ReplyDelete
  56. What about Robert´s voice ?

    Is he CUREd ?

Tell us more about Underneath the Stars !!!!!!!

Is it the "official" name of the song ?

    Red Rock is soldout ?

    Come On CURE !!!!!!!!

I LOVE WHAT YOU DO TO MY EARS....

    ReplyDelete
  57. altr2elise, I totally agree. The images just sound so beautiful. And from all the descriptions we've got so far, it could easily become one of my favorite on the new album.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It's just a classic Cure title!

    ReplyDelete
  59. that ? is not a new song, Tapier didn't mention what it was.

    ReplyDelete
  60. $%#^& I have to go and start my meeting marathon now! This is NOT fair.
I may be able to get out of one meeting, so hopefully I can check in around the time of the encores.

    ENJOY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Craig, I was just going to ask that... Perhaps it was POY?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Is ? a new song? Called Question Mark, perhaps. :-P

I wonder how Bob's voice is...

    ReplyDelete
  63. If that question mark isn't a new song, then what the heck is it?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Prayer's for Rain... How the hell can Robert do that song tonight? I wonder how he sounds tonight...

    ReplyDelete
  65. No, it was Prayers. Asking about his voice now.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Wow, I hope he doesn't blow a lung or something. I swear I think I will cry if he cancels the Bowl or the Shrine for a second time.

    Hope he feels better!

    ReplyDelete
  67. i'm loving this setlist so far

    ReplyDelete
  68. When he does Prayers his voice has to be alright, or?

    ReplyDelete
  69. "His voice is amazing.... Sounds great"
    Sounds like he's healed.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Looks like the gods have answered Robert's nonexistent prayers!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm surprised he's taking such risks with his voice. I really thought he'd do the songs that put less strain on his vocals. Maybe he took some throat steroids...

    ReplyDelete
  72. Great to hear! Perhaps not talking yesterday helped.

And the setlist does look great so far.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Risks? Outside of Prayers for Rain, so far, the set looks to be easy on his vocal chords. Hmm, I wonder if Robert has an issue with vocal fold nodules, and will ever need surgery for it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. shawn, i just thought singing parts of prayers was a bit much for a man with a cold, but whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  75. That´s a good news !!! but maybe is better for RS not to sing so loud for having a full healing on his voice.

Lwet´s face it, Robert, you´re singing as your best, but there is no reason to go further...you´re not on 20´s....

It´s for your own good...and of course, for good of all of us.

    ReplyDelete
  76. clockwise, I didn't disagree on PFR. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm sirer RS is a good judge of what he can and cannot do.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Craig, how do you know it's signal problems?

    ReplyDelete
  79. hey all. nice setlist so far! wish i would've gotten home earlier to see it get underway.

    ReplyDelete
  80. robert has been sounding amaaazing anyway, before the whole throat debacle. just listen to his voice on perfect boy. i have become obsessed with that song owing to his soaring vocals.

    ReplyDelete
  81. That's what Tapier said awhile ago. Having trouble getting a signal tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Tapier needs to switch to Alltel. :P

    ReplyDelete
  83. do people taxt you or call you Craig ?? just curious how you got the reports..

    ReplyDelete
  84. I e-mailed him from my phone in Toronto. Oh, the wonders of technology...

    ReplyDelete
  85. Honestly, as cool as it is for peeps to text Craig stuff, I wouldn't do it. Texting is too confusing to me and I just wanna enjoy the show. Sorry Craig, but no updates from moi from Austin/ATL/Charlotte.

    ReplyDelete
  86. cool, well ya wouldn't want to trust me as my spelling sucks as you can see..lol

    ReplyDelete
  87. No problem Cat. Got those shows covered already.

    ReplyDelete
  88. clockwise, I'll bake you something nice if you give live reports. :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Craig, do you already know the "?", it seems like a fabulous setlist so

    ReplyDelete
  90. Maybe Someday! So there IS hope for them to do BF songs tonight after all.

    ReplyDelete
  91. shawn, i don't trust you - that smiley seems sly, like it has a knife behind it's back. ;-)

besides, i can't text fer shit. it takes me like 10 hours to type one word. i HATE texting and never do it. the only person who texts me is a girl i used to work with. i text her back like 2 word texts. i don't see how people are able to do it so fluidly. i type fast, but not on a tiny phone keypad!

    ReplyDelete
  92. text, either to my e-mail or cell.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Clockwise, I hate texting too. It takes me a long time to get a simple message out.

    ReplyDelete
  94. jenny: unfortunately all they seem to do anymore from bf is maybe someday. it defies rationale, as robert seemed to really love bf at one point. when i asked him in san fran why they didn't play more bf songs at curiosa, he said it was because they played a lot of stuff during the dream tour. LAME excuse. i think it's because he thinks it's too MELLOW or something, and he wants to have more of an edge or some shit. i dunno, but it's really STOOOPID that he neglects that poor album, one of their best!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Nah, clockwise. I just like baking, and I'm good at it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. maybe someday is a great song. didn't they essential ignore disintegration on the wish tour except for lullaby & POY?

    ReplyDelete
  97. figurehead would be nice right about now...

    ReplyDelete
  98. figurehead is the cat's tits, and they ain't played it yet on this tour have they?

    ReplyDelete
  99. *cries* i want to be there RIGHT NOW.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Clockwise, I can't believe he said that...there are so many other songs they've been doing for ages, but that doesn't seem to be stopping them right now. BF is as much a classic as Pornography IMO. But considering its poor sale, maybe they think it's an obscure choice. Similar reason goes to the hugely neglected WMS, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Cat - not in the US. BTW, you can check and see what they've played by checking the 4Tour Song Tracker 8000. Look to the right side of the blog, scroll down a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  102. 4Tour Song Tracker 8000 > sliced bread

    ReplyDelete
  103. They did Figurehead in the HK show. Amazing. And my prejudice towards Jason vanished right when the drum of the song kicked in.

    ReplyDelete
  104. hot DAMN this is looking like a nice setlist. Must have been inspired by the lovely venue...

    ReplyDelete
  105. i'm just trolling around on you tube and i found a really amazing version of taking off, my least favorite track from the cure. wow - it's SO much better than the studio version! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQUjxxtXIsI&feature=related

    ReplyDelete
  106. nice one clockwise :).

    ReplyDelete
  107. Clockwise, we have the same taste, I love Taking Off!

    ReplyDelete
  108. yeah, i think you're right that they don't play bf stuff because it's "obscure" in their catalog, at least as far as the masses are concerned. but screw the masses. i'm sure they're not exactly familiar with wrong number or never enough either, huh? so replace those songs with a coupla bloodflowers tunz!

    ReplyDelete
  109. jpx: but but but...i hate taking off! but this version is far superior to the original studio version. i don't know if robert had vocal probs and that's why he was singing in a lower register, but it works stunningly well. i would love the song if this were the original version.

now watching a vid of cut here. GAWD THAT SONG IS SO GORGEOUS.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Have they ever performed Cut Here live?

    ReplyDelete
  111. apparently yes. i think at wembley at some point?? i will try to find a live version.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE that song!

    ReplyDelete
  112. I'm watching Plainsong live now...

    ReplyDelete
  113. I love Cut Here as well, very New Orderish.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yes they did. It didn't seem to go over very well, and they dropped it.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Someone fly me to Red Rocks, so I can stomp on Tapier's phone.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Tapier is going to the next 7 shows in a row. Hopefully the phone gets fixed somewhere in there. : )

    ReplyDelete
  117. I'm looking over my shoulder at my awesome BF poster... I was supposed to get the dreamtour poster but canada post BENT the tube to put in the mailbox- a huge battle ensued..

    ReplyDelete
  118. JPX & Clockwise, I love Cut Here too!! One of the most heartbreaking songs I've ever heard.

    ReplyDelete
  119. this tropic thunder movie looks hilarious

    ReplyDelete
  120. maybe you need backups, Craig...lol

    ReplyDelete
  121. Clockwise, how long is that offer good for?

    ReplyDelete
  122. Jenny, it's a great, yet depressing, song, pure Cure!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Seems like I did a mistake in the past: always played the wrong songs to the girls :)

    ReplyDelete
  124. Have someone else doing it on friday, so Tapier will be the backup.
BTW, V did volunteer to do it tonight if everything else fell through, but she really didn't want to. So I told her to just go and have fun. Let's hope she's recording though!

    ReplyDelete
  125. Just found Spilt Milk... there is no proper vid for it but there is the song with some pictures as visuals... I have only heard this song once or twice. I really like the music in it...the vocals are rather dry.

    Now searching for Club America...

    ReplyDelete
  126. bernie, just curious, but what songs did you play to girls?

    ReplyDelete
  127. I love Spilt Milk! So depressing!

    ReplyDelete
  128. well I am thankful for these live updates... thank god for the internet.. I may not be flying all over to follow the band, but I'm on here most nights when there's a show..lol

    ReplyDelete
  129. I would DIE DIE DIE if they played Club America at any of my shows. DIE! I lurv that song so much. Watching a Jools Holland vid of it.

    ReplyDelete
  130. This Tapier person, is it wrong to want to beat them because they get to go to the next 7 shows....hurumph!

    ReplyDelete
  131. bernie liked to play 867-5309/Jenny and Sex Machine. Gee, and he wonders why he had trouble with the ladies...

    ReplyDelete
  132. i´ve listen Club America live at the last show here in Mexico City last fall...

    Great show........ :-)

    ReplyDelete
  133. Tapier better be writing the set down or something. Tapier, if you read this, send me your cell phone, so I can practice with my father's axe and chainsaw. I'll return it when I'm done, if you'd like, though I'm afraid that it'll no longer be usable, or recognizable, for that matter.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I just got 6 of the missing texts at once. Good thing he numbered them. : )

    ReplyDelete
  135. Jenny-I was just kidding. When I was young (years ago) Kiss me came out and disintegration and of course I listen a lot to Standing on a beach and HOTD, but my girlfriend(s) were more into the Smiths.

    ReplyDelete
  136. This setlist rocks. And it's interesting that they're putting If Only Tonight We Could Sleep back into the main set.

    ReplyDelete
  137. well guys i love you so much this night everybody is happy and post good comments....

and today i feel alive again....
and i can hear again (i couldn't listen nothing for 4 days..i almost stay deaf....

now robert feel very well again...so i am very exited....

    ReplyDelete
  138. so roberts voice is good eh?
its all the charm of his fans... seriously, if he were to cancel it would cost him an arm and leg right? whats the notes on this? better to go out and try , is he doing it for the fans or would it cost way too much to cancel?
    i love him either way...

    ReplyDelete
  139. well the OOBE attempt fell through, so I opted for a shower, a bootleg cure video from san jose 1997, and this blog to find out what I'm missing tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  140. now i'm watching jupiter crash at glastonbury. i am almost crying. i love the cure. i love everything about them. best band ever. i really need to go to bed.

    ReplyDelete
  141. now i'm watching jupiter crash at glastonbury. i am almost crying. i love the cure. i love everything about them. best band ever. i really need to go to bed.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Craig- Tapier should comment the finale song, if it is the new one, please

    ReplyDelete
  143. Bernie - he is having phone problems. He's doing the best he can.

    ReplyDelete
  144. yeah, it's not like he owes us anything. he's doing us a favor! he should just enjoy the show. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  145. it's hard to get reception out there since red rocks amphitheatre is a bit removed from the city as a whole. i think he deserves credit for taking one for the team.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I found a positive aspect on the Tapier´s problems with the cell phone signal....it´s more intriguing and interesting to know if there will be more surprises...

    :-0

    ReplyDelete
  147. Mad Bob - exactly! I have no idea when or if there will be an update. : )

    ReplyDelete
  148. I was not complaining, and I will not. I´m glad he is doing us the favor of course. I´m just excited about the new song. S.o. wrote better as onehundredyears, just unbelievable

    ReplyDelete
  149. gnite all. i am way past my beddy bye time. thankfully there don't seem to be any murders in my neighborhood tonight. cross your fingers, knock on wood, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Woo hoo, a 20 minute break from meetings. Great setlist.

Someone mentioned The Figurehead - it was defintiely played at the Adelaide concert too.

    ReplyDelete
  151. am i talking to air?

    ReplyDelete
  152. Good Night Clock...

Rest with any worries, nothing will happen ok.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Plainsong for the first encore! Very cool

    ReplyDelete
  154. jason- kabukiface?

so is the new song a new new song or a new old song?

    ReplyDelete
  155. umm Lacature, i don´t really know how much cost to The Cure if they cancel a show, but, i want to believe the only reason for tonight´s concert takes place is RS voice is almost fully recover...

    ReplyDelete
  156. If they do the Plainsong, Same Deep Water, Disintegration encore, I'm going back in time, buying a ticket and going to Red Rocks. : )
So happy for V. She's getting a great show.

    ReplyDelete
  157. If the next song in the Plainsong encore is from Disintegration, I've got my money down that they're going to play The Same Deep Water As You in this encore.

    ReplyDelete
  158. sofia! i logged on and wrote you, there was nothing! i'll hop back on.
    me = luckyknucklesbaltimore

    ReplyDelete
  159. OMG.. same deep water ??? crossing my fingies..

    ReplyDelete
  160. I have to go now. Thank you Graig and Tapier . Good night everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  161. This looks like a Disintegration encore. If the next song is The Same Deep Water As You...I'll need to fly to the US to catch a show I think.

    ReplyDelete
  162. No, If CURE play The Same Deep Water as You i sell my soul for going back time and go to Red Rocks, this is my ALL-TIME FAV CURE SONG...

The most BeautifullY Sad song The EARTH could LISTEN EVER !!!!!!

    A Master Piece.

    ReplyDelete
  163. suspeeeeense....lol

    ReplyDelete
  164. Jenny - where are you flying from? Maybe we can charter a flight together (hypothetically speaking, of course)

    ReplyDelete

  172. altr2elise - I live in Taipei, Taiwan (we're not part of China -- sorry, can't help it), a place where The Cure would never visit, sadly. Maybe if they tour Australia or NZ again, I'll go there to see them.

  182. I'm awake and ready to face my afternoon work here. ;)

Thanks Craig and Tapier for the live update. This is indeed a great setlist! I'd say it's one of the best in the US so far. And really looking forward to V's and other fans' report! We gonna hear the new songs this time.

  183. No problem,Craig, and it´s not your fault anyway, neither Tapier´s...

I really appreciated all your work.

I think it´s not an easy choice go a concert of your favourite band, and instead of just enjoy the show, send reports of every song, every thing worth to be aware of.

So, Congratulations and thanks to the both of you.

And, let´s see what surprises remain on the full setlist, and i pray for having soon audio & video of the show, especially the 2 (or more?) new songs.

  184. Thanks to Craig and Tapier for the update. My visits to the blog were sporadic (thanks to work), so I didn't even notice any delays in the reporting :-)

    See you all next time.
