Underneath The Stars and Baby Rag Dog Book

Crowbi_wan @ Curefans.com has confirmed that the new songs are listed on the official setlists as Underneath The Stars (the set opener) and Baby Rag Dog Book (the set closer). Baby Rag Dog Book? WTF? Bananafishbones, you've met your match. : )

Underneath The Stars (live at Red Rocks)

  1. Very Bananafishbone indeed..i like the direction all this is taking..great artwork, interesting song titles(bar the only one)...i am optmistic for September!Even the setlists are a bit less predictible than in Europe!

  2. Baby Rag Dog Book!!! Nobody can come up with an absurd, surrealistic title like this but Robert. It sounds very artistic. I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Actually, I think Baby Rag Dog Book sounds pretty cool, just like Bananafishbone does. It's so random that you'll want to find out what it's about...

    ReplyDelete
  4. well, bananafishbones isn't quite so random is it? Not a demon of Robert's mind but rather Salinger's. Baby Rag Dog Book on the other hand does not ring a bell...

    ReplyDelete
  5. "A perfect day for bananafish" is a JD Salinger short story. I always assumed a loose connection to the very good story. "baby rag dog book" ?? ... I suppose it will all come together in a dream one day... I like the art though. Porl seams to come through on all the album art he has done (assuming its Porls art). Do you think the rest of the band laughed a little when he walked in for the first time showing off his new head. Is that the type of thing you ask others what they think. like "look at my new head, what do you think of it?" or do you just play it cool and wait for others to comment.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think it sounds like a very interesting song and I can't wait till the new album comes out!

    ReplyDelete
  7. yeah, but where are the freakin vids!

    ReplyDelete
  8. there's another fragment of Cure lyric in amongst the 'perfect day...' Salinger story - can't put my finger on it now, I'll have a look tonight and get back

    ReplyDelete
  9. Craig, I'm trusting that your infinite resources will provide you with a recording of "underneath the stars" in the very near future because I haven't been this curious about a new Cure song since 1992....

    ReplyDelete
  10. When you think of it, there haven't been THAT many regular show openers for the Cure since 1984: Shake Dog Shake, The Baby Screams, The Kiss, Plainsong, Open, Want, Out of this World and Lost. It's great to see another new one this year! I can't wait to hear it. Historically, it's either the opening song of an album or a very Curesque song... Anybody who was at in KC or Denver can describe it a little bit?

Also, Wrong number is still on the set... I just don't care for that song! Am I the only one to feel that way? I mean... They have SO MANY GREAT songs to choose from! lol It's a shame they would play one little people care for. Perhaps it's fun for them to play live? Who knows...

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm in the minority, I really like the studio cut of Wrong Number, but I don't think it's very good live. It's just too complicated and it can't be done without keyboards.

    ReplyDelete
  12. im not a big fan of Wrong Number either, but live at wembley, with Porl as well.. breath taking :)

Cant wait to hear these new songs!

  13. clockwise cat, i'm becoming addicted to reading all your comments, funny and witty, you make me laugh : )

  14. i think ram should come and comment on how clockwise has taken over the god mantle from me...

    Should this news be correct??

    ReplyDelete
  16. well, anybody can edit wiki. and i think BRDB was played in k.c. too...

    ReplyDelete
  17. fantac, they have it in the setlist because now that they have Porl back, it's awesome live. I also love the drumbeat that Jason was doing. Really dancy.

Um, jpx, since when does a guitar-heavy song like Wrong Number need keyboards?

Oh, and as for the title of the new closing song, Robert's definitely been taking something.

Lastly, WHY ARE THERE NO RECORDINGS OF THESE NEW SONGS? What the heck is wrong with people?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I added the "first played" for Sleep When I'm Dead and added that plus the "not previously announced" section for Underneath the Stars. I'm going to correct the info about Baby Rag Dog Book right now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. i kind of like the mystery and imagining this gorgeous new Cure song

    ReplyDelete
  20. i would have called "going nowhere" disintegration like as well... minus the last 3 minutes to the track... anyone else think that song stops too soon and rather abruptly? anyway... no idea if underneath the stars sounds like going nowhere... bring on the mp3's!

    ReplyDelete
  21. At least I can get my mouth around Bananafishbones, Baby Rag Dog Book on the other hand; am I the only one who pysically struggles to say that aloud?!

Sounds like an interesting idea anyway =)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, I don't like the title, "Baby Rag Dog Book". It's as awkward as catching your parents doing it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. hopefully 'underneath the stars' sounds NOTHING like 'going nowhere.' GN is what is known, in my opinion, as an empty pastiche of past glories. it's beautiful but hollow.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think Baby Rag Dog Book is Robert speaking like a toddler about his favorite book that involves a mangey dog: "Baby like rag dog book! Me want more rag dog book!"

    OR

The title is referring to Mary, his beloved, on her period, reading a book to their literate canine. Robert just left out some of the pronouns, articles, verbs and adjectives: "My Baby on the Rag Reads a Book to Our Erudite Canine."

Robert, can you confirm which it is?

    ReplyDelete
  25. aburgac: Do we know each other? :-)

Monkeybutt: I sorta agree with you about GN. I like it, but it's the kind of thing that Robert writes while sleepwalking/talking.

It did work fabulously live, though, during Atlanta Curiosa, played directly after Faith.

    ReplyDelete
  26. So you're saying "Going nowhere" kinda goes nowhere?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm going to the Salt Lake Show and want to record (at least audio) these new songs. Any ideas of how to do this with some sound quality? I'll have to call the venue and see what equipment they'll allow.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Cure heads are slackers when it comes to taping...and i'm no exception.

    ReplyDelete
  29. indeed...those early morning yank posts are freaky...

    ReplyDelete
  30. i thought that going nowhere was great... although the best track not (really)on TC was truth goodness and beauty.
the best track (really) on TC was the promise. at least me my totally correct and non-disputable opinion :)

  32. Awesome name for a song! My drummer once wrote a song called Purple Monkey dishwasher. I followed that up with Wake Up Jingle Monkey... it was a monkey kinda mood...

    ReplyDelete
  33. sam, they might just laugh at you if you ask about bringing in recording equipment, so don't. Just bring something easily concealable.

    ReplyDelete
  34. not really the place for political discussions... but really its the democrats thats suck... and the right wing republicans to be fair... keep religion out of politics... but i side with the republicans when it comes to supporting businesses vs. social programs (handouts)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I went to the Denver show, and I have video of all the new songs! I am so sorry that can't upload from the hotel computer, I did try, but I *promise* that I will come and leave a note here when they are on YouTube!

BRDB was so amazing, it was almost a head-banging song! Very hard, very rocking. Underneath the Stars was ethereal and swirling, very beautiful and emotional.

We are headed back to SLC this afternoon, and then we have front row tickets for the show there!

Robert was definitely going easy on his voice, most noticeably during songs like EOTDGS where there are sustained notes. He did cut loose toward the end.

Red Rocks is an incredible venue, it was so beautiful, and the moon rose on the right side of the stage during the encores, a big orange ball in the sky, which greatly added to the deep feeling of songs like Same Deep Water as You. The amphitheater was packed full and everyone seemed to be into the music.

Robert apologized again for his voice during and after the show.
He seemed upset that he couldn't sing as well as he wanted to.

I think that the question marks in the setlist are for the riffs that they did between a couple of songs, where I kid you not, they broke into Lynyrd Skynyrd for a second.

Robert, get better, please everyone send him good thoughts and love and healing for his throat!

We will see all you Cure freaks in Salt Lake City!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. zap: you might wanna check out my webzine for opinions eviscerating notions like "handouts" and other glorious right-wing myths. but i do agree that we should leave politix out of it, since this is, after all, a Cure-ious site. for the record, though, i do think dems suck too, although slightly less than repubs. go nader.

but yeah - no more politix. in the words of the mightly mr. chao, "politics kill"

    ReplyDelete
  37. REV!!!! YOU HAVE VIDS of the NEW SONGS! WE LOVE YOU!!! Or, rather, I do, and I assume the others will too. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I forgot to add, here's my youtube account:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/HaloCure

    ReplyDelete
  39. ...just playing too Clockwise.

I'm just wondering what other people use to get decent audio from these concerts. Brad's recordings were pretty good considering. I'm bringing my 10x digital camera w/video and 6GB of memory cards for sure so I hope that's enough.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Why don't they play 'Bananafishbones' ever? It's great song !!! Really since the The Top tour they have only done 4 songs of that album live...

Give Me It (last played 1986)
    Dressing Up (last played 1996)
Piggy in the Mirror (last played 1997)

and of course Shake Dog Shake...

So they haven't played anything but 'SDS' from Top in over a decade???

There are great songs like 'Bird Mad Girl' 'Wailing Wall' 'Empty World' 'Caterpillar', etc etc etc.... not to mention 'Give Me It', 'Bananfishbones', 'The Top'...

I don't get it. Especially with Porl back in the band?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Rev ~ cheers in advance for the vids, very excited to see/hear these new tracks, good to hear you guys had a great time!

Your post mentioned that they played "Same Deep Water As You" ~ didn't see this on the setlist posted here ~ were you referring to another song by mistake?

    ReplyDelete
  42. If I don't hear these songs soon I think I'm going to explode.

Haven't been this excited in ages.

    ReplyDelete
  43. For what we heard about the new song´s titles and how they sounds announces a very good album coming next september. I really hope that.

and I think, once they are playing new songs as opener and closer maybe we could say the tour promoting the new album officially began...

    ReplyDelete
  44. the lyserrrrrrrrrrgic!
i love the title it's just fucked enough. i'm thinking it's those cloth books babys sometimes have. didn't anyone have a coth book when they were a baby? i did. and obvs it's about a dog. whatever. i love the title.

also, i hope smith and the gang got the hell out of dodge before the tornado... :x

    ReplyDelete
  45. I had a baby cloth book. Then I threw up all over it.

Can't remember if it was about a dog though.

    ReplyDelete

  47. The sound quality isn't that good but I think I like the song.

No doubt better recordings will show up very soon.

    ReplyDelete
  48. ok, i'm melting and freaking out at the same time. despite the quality, it sounds like something off 'lost wishes.'

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!

cannnot wait for the new album. sounds beautiful!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. i just have to comment again to say 'wow, i think the cure feeling is officially back'

    ReplyDelete
  50. I agree monkeybutt. It's good to be excited for a Cure release again.

beachy - thanks for posting the link!

    ReplyDelete
  51. eff it, my resolve to not listen to any more crappy live recordings of the new songs continues to crumble...

    ReplyDelete
  52. BRDB is a little harder to gauge, but it sounds like it could have been on the top almost, or one of the harder ones on faith, like doubt. dunno yet. interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Even despite the dodgy sound quality I am loving BRDB already. If the rest of the new album tracks are anything like this, I think we're in for a good 'un =)

    ReplyDelete
  54. brdb is also catchy- i now can't get that main riff outta my head!

    ReplyDelete
  55. the sound is crap but even still 'underneath the stars' gave me goosebumps. can't wait to hear it live in California next week - provided they don't get blown off the road on the way to Salt Lake City!

    ReplyDelete
  56. finally...FINALLY I CAN FORGET ABOUT THE LAST TWO ALBUMS!!!

    *happiest girl*

    ReplyDelete
  57. podgirl, please don't say that! ;) i'm hoping they open with UTS at hollywood bowl!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I know this is a pretty big claim by my God, Underneath the Stars could be a PlainSong beater.

    ReplyDelete
  59. %#@*!!! I think I just wet my pants listening to Underneath the Stars. Welcome back boys.

    !!!!!!!

Despite the sound quality, this sounds beautiful. Let's hope they don't fork it up in production.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm definitely getting that Mogwai vibe from UTS. Can't really tell what Porl is doing on this recording. Should be a really pretty song.

    ReplyDelete
  61. monkeybutt - have you seen the weather in CO? I'm sure they'll be fine. They have to be - in going to San Jose and San Diego shows.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Underneath the Stars is basically a Cure take on Mogwai/Explosions in the Sky post-rock (with vocals). I approve.

The other one sounds like the band wants to be Stone Temple Pilots or some other heavy-ish 1990s alt-rock group. Very un-Cure sounding and bland (a bit like Never on the last album, but at least better than that one), at least from this recording. Will have to see if it grows on me.

    ReplyDelete
  63. the only one pretty much stayed the same from initial live plays to release (i think), so here's hoping underneath the stars gets the same treatment.

    geez, this song's beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  64. "Plainsong beater"?

Man, I really can't tell from this recording. I hear the drums, a bass line, and a lot of open space. Can't tell what it's about or anything.

    ReplyDelete
  65. i know podgirl, i was just kidding in reference to you saying you hoped they didn't get blown off the road. :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. First off thanks to those who submit clips of all the shows for the rest of us that don't have the possibility to attend those shows and to Craig who is relentlessly keeping us up to date - do you ever get some sleep at all, Craig?

I can't say too much about Baby Rag Dog Book (except that i love its title) cos the sound quality of that first clip is really distorted, but Underneath The Sky is just overwhelming. What an awesome song!

Everything that's happening right now with the Cure is just amazing and i didn't expect it all to become so exciting in my sweetest dreams! Have to agree here with monkeybutt that the 'Cure feeling' is officially back - that's just spot on!

There's so many great songs now out there already that i almost can't imagine the new album not to become a real classic and one of their absolute best!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Underneath the Stars is excellent! I can't wait to hear the studio cut. This is shaping up to be the best album since Wish.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I can't imagine anything topping Plainsong. After all these years I still get chills and tears when I hear those opening chimes. I got chills listening to UTS, but that might just be that new-Cure-song feeling. Time will tell.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Assuming UTS is the album opener, and BRDB is the closer - this album will have to take quite a journey to bridge those two very different songs. Should be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I really really hope that they play some more shows with the new material later on in Europe... too bad i can't fly over to the US right now....

    ReplyDelete
  71. "Underneath The Stars" definitely sounds (from what I can tell) like an album opener. Beautiful stuff. I hope a decent recording comes around SOON.

    ReplyDelete
  72. BRDG definitely has a certain 'Primary' feel.

    ReplyDelete
  73. ... but I'd be surprised if that was the closer. Single no. 4 perhaps?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Holy crap rev, you don't throw out things like "which greatly added to the deep feeling of songs like Same Deep Water as You" unless you're 100% sure that's the song you meant to say. That's my favorite Cure song and I swear if they played it at the SLC show I'd probably cry a tissuebox worth of tears. Are you messin' with us or what??

    ReplyDelete
  75. i was wondering when you were going to get to listen to it, clockwise.

    ReplyDelete
  76. damnit all... youtube is blocked at my work... i want to hear these songs

    ReplyDelete
  77. underneath the stars...whoah. it definitely sounds like something that could've come from lost wishes. i love it.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Here's a new tongue twister: "The Cure rocks Red Rocks crowd with Baby Rag Dog Book"!!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Following the formula from the last album, it is perfectly reasonable to assume that these new tracks will be the album opener/closer. (Personally, I think 'Rag Dog & Pony Show' is a terrible track for an album closer, as it is far too cliched hard rock, but I'm sure others will differ with me. And Underneath the Stars is great, but hardly a revelation or a great step forward in music, since anyone not living in a vacuum should recognize how much it sounds like some of Robert's favorite younger bands of recent years *cough* Mogwai *cough*)

So we can assume that about half of the new album has been played at this point (7 new songs). That's now 5 new songs in the setlist, which is probably what the setlists will top out at as far as new songs (since Robert doesn't seem to overburden sets with new songs), unless they start rotating other new songs in in place of others they've already been playing. Strange that A Boy I Never Knew hasn't gotten an airing yet on this tour, which makes me wonder if it has been pushed back to the next, "sad" album because it doesn't fit as well with the poppier stuff we've been hearing lately.

    ReplyDelete
  80. hahhaa! extry extry! read all about it!

    ReplyDelete
  81. mogwai? who's that?

seriously, mogwai is one of my favorite bands, and while a lot of people have been dropping the mogwai sound influence, i really think it goes back to the lost wishes/92 cure sound more than mogwai. just because smith likes mogwai doesn't mean he's going to stoop to borrowing their sound.

    ReplyDelete
  82. well, not much anyway. he did stoop to borrowing some new order flavor back in the day, didn't he?

shit, i still love the song. better than anything on TC, and this is just a shitty live version.

    ReplyDelete
  83. and since i keep on thinking of stuff to say, mogwai sounds like the cure. not the other way around.

    ReplyDelete
  84. i was going to comment on that too, regarding the EITS and mogwai references. if anything, post-rock has borrowed heavily from bands like the cure, versus the other way around. smith and co. were making sounds like that waaaaaay before the whole post-rock scene exploded.

    ReplyDelete
  85. So my assessment is: I LOVE Rag Doll Baby or WTFever it's called. It's a little like Ministry's Jesus Built My Hotrod/metal rockabilly/psychobilly ala Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, etc. YUM! I am a big fan of this type of music. It also did recall harder stuff from The Top and KM a bit. I LOVE LOVE LOVE when The Cure does trippy psychedelic rock, and this has a rockabilly tinge that is delicious. I hope the production on this is not lackluster like it was on the Promise, because I do think the Promise works brilliantly live - it's more layered than on the album. And this song sounds better than the Promise or Never, and I do like those songs.

I also love UTS, but the audio was so bad it's really hard to tell. Sure, it's more Cure facsimile in that it sounds very atmospheric, languid and so on ala Disint and BF, but so? I figgger if we had an album full of Cure cut and pastes that would suck, but this album sounds more adventurous, as though it's gonna mix it up with the styles and flavors.

The only new song I have heard that I don't like is The Only One. The rest bode very well for a great Cure album indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  86. jason, you said it much better than i did...

    ReplyDelete
  87. Underneath The Stars.....
The last time I felt shivers like this was in 1989 when I put Disintegration on the turntable and heard Plainsong for the first time.
Awesome. Love this band so much.
Saw them at Wembley in March, now seriously planning a trip to NY.....

    ReplyDelete
  88. I am VERY impressed so far.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Whoever said that Baby Dog sounds like STP, I kinda have to agree. But it sounds better than that, because Robert is singing, not that junkie dude. :-)

Mmmmmm mmmmm mmmmm. I want the studio version of this song to be really heavy and madly metallically post-punky headbangingly thrashingly smashing.

My left nipple is perky at the thought!

    ReplyDelete
  90. everyone always talks about the promise live but i've yet to see a video for it..... anyone have a link for me??

    ReplyDelete
  91. corrosivehead: Love the name, btw. Is that a song title or something I should probably know? Anyway, I just did a You Tube search for the Promise but nada. Sorry! However, I wonder if Craig has any vids of The Promise from Curiosa in his COF archives? I don't know that there are full-length vids of it, but maybe snippets? I'll look through my files, too. I saw it several times during Curiosa and it blew me the fuck away. IMO, it's rather flat and lifeless on the album compared to the live versions. But a lot of people just can't get into the Promise. There is maybe too much screaming on it, but I like it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I guess the Mogwai reference is getting thrown around so much because after I got back from the KC show and there was no video/audio of it and people were wanting a description and Mogwai was about the best I could do at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  93. i would like to hear a version of the promise that delivered on what i think it COULD be. i mean, i hate everything about TC, and the promise just comes off as a bit of a joke. i don't mind the screaming and the thrashing if there was production to back it up, something that made the song stand out. honestly, i listen to the song and just crack up, it's that bad. i'd love to be proven wrong by a live version that kicks major ass.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Guys, if I had to make one trip to the US (from England) on this tour what venue would you recommend? Tempted to go to last show in NY.

    ReplyDelete
  95. you didn't attend any curiosa shows, apearse?

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'm happy to concede that The Cure has been a big influence on Mogwai and the like, but my point is that even this sounds considerably closer to bands like Mogwai than to the original Cure material that may have inspired such newer bands. It does have a bit of a sound like To Wish Impossible Things, for example, but musically it could be a random cut off most any Mogwai album (minus the lyrics).

    ReplyDelete
  97. no, cc, i didn't. i wasn't in a good cure mood in those days, and the only band i gave a shit about on the bill was mogwai.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Nope. All my 14 shows have been in the UK. First one was the best - Prayer Tour at Wembley.

    ReplyDelete
  99. wow, so andrew, you basically were there for entreat? how great.

    ReplyDelete
  100. clockwise cat: corrosive head pollution is a Silverchair lyric (before they sucked) from the song Emotion Sickness. He never actually uses the words in the song but if you look in the lyric booklet they are there. I used to be huge into silverchair during their neon ballroom phase, not so much anymore. Yeah, i've looked EVERYWHERE for the promise cause people are always fucking talking about how could it is live and i can't find anything. If you do find something let me know, that would make me a very happy boy. The Promise is prob my fav from TC. I can't even imagine how it would sound live.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Guys, who cares if it sounds a little influenced by another band? Artists are influenced ALL THE TIME by other artists. Some of the most interesting music ever made was made because an artist took an idea from someone else, tweeked it, and made it their own. It's no big deal. The only thing that I care about is that the music gives me goosebumps like most of The Cure's music does.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I'll second The Promise being amazing live. It was the only track from TC that they played that actually held up with the rest of their setlist.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I was there on the first night, I think Entreat was recorded on the last night.
Was still an amazing show, I was in the front row. Got some great pictures that I took that night, will have to upload them.

    ReplyDelete
  104. My word. Just wow. If the new songs we've heard so far is any indication of how the new album is going to be then... we're in for a sweet, sweet treat!!!

    ReplyDelete
  105. todd, I'm with you all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  106. todd, i agree. in some ways, everyone copies everyone else. it's what's done. and yeah, the song gives me the cure feeling again. it's a cure song. i could give a fuck who it sounds like.

unless it sounds like justin timberlake. then i'll have problems.

  107. monkeybutt: i think we talked about this before, but you missed OUT dude! curiosa was fantastic. sure, the cure shows were short, but interpol and mogwai were awesome.

i like the fact that robert is blatantly using mogwai influences in his music. no harm in incorporating elements of your fave bands as long as you keep it fresh. that's all rock music is, anyway - just pastiches of other sounds and genres. the cure aped joy division and new order and buzzcocks and hendrix and bowie back in the day, and continue to infuse their songs with influences past and present. the cure is not about RE-inventing the musical wheel - the cure is about making music in subtly inventive ways. they have always had a slightly generic aspect to ALL their music, but they often impose something fresh on top of the generic template. THAT is why i like the cure - not because i think they've done something mindblowingly unorthodox. they're not phillip glass or whoever the most inventive musician du jour is. hell, tom waits is way more inventive than the cure. but the cure brings something interesting to the table with each album - even if sometimes it doesn't always resonate with fans.

  108. todd: glad you too liked the promise live. a lot of people just hate that song. maybe i love it because i heard its debut live at coachella. it was really wild and thrashy there. i love the languid build-up to the psychotic freak-out toward the end.

  110. and yeah, not to beat a deceased equine, but mogwai was influenced by the cure since the cure came first. so it's only fitting that they would feed back into each other. ain't nuttin' wrong wit that, sukaz!

  111. are you guys watchin different vids from me??? how the fuck you can say it sounds like mogwai is beyond me .. cant hear to think .. the last one sounds more like get yer rocks off primal scream chorus if anything ...

  112. I saw Mogwai at Curiosa and own four of their albums, I'm seeing The Cure tomorrow night...I'll lay this baby to rest once I hear the song (can't get youtube where I'm at to give UTS a test run). My guess is that if it does sound like Mogwai, it sounds like "Happy Songs for Happy People" era Mogwai from the way people are describing it.

  113. corrosive, I can post audio of The Promise for you from the Toronto Curiosa show. Heck, I can put the whole show in a rar file and post it, if you'd like.

  118. But does Craig have audio of them performing A Forest, then segueing into Forever? :) Speaking of Forever, I didn't see in on the master list for this tour, and they ALWAYS play it at least once. I guess that this time is going to be the exception. :(

  119. Oh, and clockwise, seriously, aren't you getting any from your boyfriend? I see so many sexual references from you that it makes me think that you're just a bit frustrated.

  120. Okay, the last time I was this obsessed with the Cure was in 04, and I feel it starting again, and this is bad bad bad bad bad.

Good thing I'm only going to three shows rather than six. Seven if you count Coachella.

  122. Ok peeps, here's the scoop. That big storm in Colorado delayed our flight out of Denver. So I got a computer for an hour here in the terminal and the two songs, Underneath the Stars and Baby Rag Dog Book are now uploading to my YouTube account. Since they are combined, about a gig's worth of video total, it's gonna be a few minutes or longer. These are unedited video, so the first one, Underneath the Stars, goes right into Prayers for Rain, and BRDB is *after* 100 Years. The sound should be pretty good! More (edited) video and pics to follow soon, so stay tuned!

  127. just listened again to UTS - it does have a mogwai vibe, but more than anything it has that languid shimmering deeply melancholic sound the cure are so renowned for. and the cure pioneered that sound, i daresay, although of course u2 and echo and others have elements of that sound as well.

gotta go to din - hopefully better audio quality of these songs via the rev will be up when i get back!

    :-D

  133. I cannot exprtess how pissed off I am feeling at the moment. I didn't get to check for new links before I left the house for work.

Now I am at work, and I stupid system does not allow me to jump to the links.

I won't be able to see or hear the new song for at least another 13hrs.

    AGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

*curls up in foetal position and cries*

  134. altr2elise, I share your frustration. I'm at work here and can't really see those clips unless I want to get fired. But at least I can see them during the noon break after three hours......

    Talk about torture!!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Jenny - I tell you what, if my car was at work I'd be ducking home from work at lunchtime to go and have a look. But my car isn't here, so I can't.

    This IS Torture.

    ReplyDelete
  136. i left an hour early today to get home to see these songs... just kinda snuck outta the building. lol.

sorry gals - i know it IS torture for you!

i have an idea - get a safety pin and poke your finger to draw some blood, and then smear the blood all over your hands, and then start coughing uncontrollably, and then go into your boss's office and tell him that you're coughing up blood, and he/she will let you leave for the day!

    no?

    ReplyDelete
  137. Clockwise, your suggestion is priceless. But I’m laughing too hard to pretend being sick right now…thanks to you!

Okay, less than two hours from my break now. I'm getting all fidgety right now...

    ReplyDelete
  138. Clockwise - you always make me laugh. I'm sure it will be worth the wait, and then I can spend the weekend enjoying the new music.
