'Lovesong' was Music Video of the day at Chicagoist yesterday. Not really news, but I have to post it because of this: "Seriously, it looks like this video was filmed at Fraggle Rock." Oh if only! No, this was filmed in Tim Pope's Cave of Penises. :)

Honolulu preshow fan gathering

"I work at Kincaid’s in Ward Warehouse, on the corner of Ward Ave and Ala Moana Blvd. 1050 Ala Moana Blvd.  We are having a gathering before the Cure show starting at 3:30pm for Happy Hour. It is a great place for Happy Hour, great drinks and food, and you can leave your car there in the garage, and walk to and from the venue in about 10 mins." (Thanks Darrell)

Keeping an eye on Flossie

Tropical Storm Flossie is starting to become a problem for fans traveling to the Honolulu show, as Tropical Storm watches & warnings have been posted for the islands, and flights are being cancelled.
If you're traveling today, be sure to check with your airline and see what your status is, and if you can move your flight to an earlier or later time. As soon as I hear anything about the show going on or being canceled/postponed, I'll post ASAP. Good luck, safe travels, and let's all keep our fingers crossed that it all works out.

Latest update: And now an earthquake, just for fun. From the Weather Channel - "As if #Flossie weren't enough, a 3.5 #earthquake struck near coast of Oahu, 19 mi E of Honolulu at 10:30am HST (54 min ago)." But in better news, the band have arrived safely in Honolulu! On with the show!

Remember how good things looked this morning? Yeah, not so much now. Have heard of 4 more flight cancellations, including Autumn's, Sarah's, and Chris'. Not good. :(
And this from Darrell in Honolulu: "And now to make things worse, the storm has shifted north, and slowed down a bit. The new track has it coming directly over US now!"

As of now, the show is still on, and the worst of the weather looks like it will be gone before the show starts. Last I heard, the band were on their way. Olivier has made it there safely, so expect his live coverage from the show. Jay has been there for a few days, torturing me with beautiful beach photos from his balcony, so he's good. Good luck & safe travels to all fans heading there today.

Rumors of The Cure playing Big Day Out 2014

While we still wait & hope for more shows this year, especially solo shows in the US, rumors have already started for next year. The [AU] Review has them at a 90% chance of headlining the Big Day Out festival in 2014. The official announcement will be made on July 31st, so not long to wait & see if there's any validity to this one. Until then, nothing more than a rumor. (Thanks David)

Lullaby Versions of The Cure out Aug. 6th

From Bloody Disgusting: "The folks over at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star are seemingly unstoppable, cranking out one amazing lullaby version after another. This time they’re back with UK goth rock sensations The Cure by bringing a stream of their hit song “Just Like Heaven”, which comes from the 1987 album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. A full lullaby album will be released on August 6th (pre-order here) and features such tracks as “Lullaby”, “Pictures Of You”, “Friday I’m In Love”, “Lovesong”, and more. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have “Burn”, which is one of my favorite tracks from The Crow soundtrack, but I guess you can’t get everything you want, right?" (Thanks David)

The Cure & Depeche Mode at ACL in Oct!

Update (07/24/13): The schedule is out. The Cure plays Oct. 5th & 12th, 8 - 10PM. Depeche Mode plays Oct. 4th & 11th, 8 - 9:30PM.

Update (05/09/13): While Regular 3 day passes for weekend 1 are sold out, travel packages and VIP & Platinum 3 day passes are still available. And all options are still available for weekend 2.

Update (05/08/13): Hopefully clearing this up once & for all, ACL has posted the list of bands NOT playing both weekends. Every other band is playing BOTH weekends.

Update (05/07/13): The lineup is out! The Cure & Depeche Mode!!! At the same show!!! Here's the lineup video. That's some Cure bio they put up. Ton of effort and research went into that, I'm sure. :P Apologies to ACL, as they say The Cure provided that bio. In that case, it's actually pretty funny.

Again, to be absolutely clear on this, ACL is 2 weekends. Oct. 4th - 6th & Oct. 11th - 13th. The Cure, along with most of the bands, play 2 shows, 1 each weekend. If you want to see both Cure shows, you have to buy tix for BOTH weekends, not just 1. $225 for each weekend pass. No single day passes. On sale now. Platinum ($3.600) and VIP ($1,050) passes are also available.

Well, I've had to take them off for a while but have just resurrected them along with newer stuff: coverage of part of the Reflections shows, Bestival and one show each for 2012 and 2013, all with pictures and videos when available. As for what's coming next, you will also find the customary map for the forthcoming 2013 festivals + Hawaii, and corresponding pages for each, with details on those that will be covered live just like the old days! The Cure plays Hawaii on July 30th!

Announced this morning by BAMP: The Cure will play at Neil Blaisdell Center Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 30th. Tickets on sale June 14th at 10am. Prices are $39.50, $59.50, $79.50, $99.50, $250 (with $100 of each Front Row ticket being donated to the Hawaii Arts Alliance).
