Note: The shows in Australia are being billed as the debut of the Disintegration 30th Anniversary show. More shows in other cities are likely to be announced soon. This will most likely NOT be your only chance to see this show. No guarantees of course, but I'd bet good money we'll see more.
From the Sydney Opera House website:
The grandeur of The Cure at their shimmering peak
Exclusive to Vivid LIVE, alternative rock legends The Cure will bring their magisterial, slow-burn masterpiece Disintegration to the Opera House Concert Hall for four shows to mark the 30th anniversary of their career-defining epic. This is the world premiere of these 30th anniversary performances, and their only Australian engagement.
From the plaintive romance of 'Pictures of You' to the swooning 'Lovesong', from the sinister plucks of 'Lullaby' to the delirious 'Fascination Street', from the glacial sweep of 'Plainsong' to the desolate 'Untitled', The Cure’s eighth album – a culmination of their moody, mysterious sensibilities in all their grandeur – is often considered their greatest, a widely influential high water mark for one of rock’s most beloved and enduring bands.
Following unforgettable, one-off performances for Vivid LIVE in 2011 – in which the band played Three Imaginary Boys, Seventeen Seconds, and Faith in their entirety – The Cure are set to deliver another once-in-a-lifetime show, accompanied by an evocative visual backdrop in the fittingly atmospheric surrounds of the Concert Hall. Smith and his band will also play a selection of rarely performed B-sides plus specially curated deep catalogue cuts after each performance of Disintegration.
