Cure Garbage Pail Kids cards
From Stereogum: "Summer may be on its way out the door, but Topps has decided to
celebrate the waning music festival season with a whole mess of limited
edition Garbage Pail Kids sticker carders. The limited edition American

This is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteWell, yeah, that's the point of the entire series.
DeleteYes that's true, but it's still ridiculous ;)
DeleteYou want ridiculous? Watch the Garbage Pail Kids movie. I dare you. :)

DeleteI've seen it. I was traumatized and will never be the same. :)
DeleteHoly crap...$9.99 for a single band's two cards or $49.99 for the 20 card set? That's insane.
ReplyDeleteRobert deserves a cut.
DeleteBend over as my friend Ben Dover says.
DeleteNot familiar with the world of collectable cards? This is somewhat cheap. It's a limited edition. Buy a few packs, save for a few years, sell on ebay , make a fortune, and go to all the shows on the next Reflections/Trilogy type shows. :)
DeleteNext.
ReplyDelete$47 delivery to the UK is obscene!
ReplyDeleteThis made me actually laugh out loud. I feel like if they are going to be garbage pail kids, at least one of them should be puking.
ReplyDeleteWow, they still make Garbage Pail cards? I haven't seen these since the '80's. My brother and I collected piles of these when we were growing up. Had I known they would be worth $$ decades later, I would've saved all of them instead of throwing them in the garbage pail (pardon the pun!). They were morbidly fascinating...but some images might've been a little too disturbing (even nightmare-inducing), especially for anyone under the age of 10. Nowadays they'd probably slap on a warning label like they do on albums with explicit content. I remember one card with a black widow spider with the hourglass figure clearly showing. Maybe they could update that card with some sort of Lullaby-esque theme.
ReplyDeleteReeves is definitely in there and maybe Roger too. The remaining two are indistinct.
ReplyDeleteThat's Simon on the right, but Jason (between Reeves and Robert), looks too much like Simon.
DeleteAt first I thought Jason was MIA. Maybe the artist doesn't know what he looks like? Jason has blondish hair which would differentiate him from the others. Maybe they just bungled the hair color, who knows. Interestingly, they have a card for a "Mecha Tarra". Not sure what that is, but perhaps they could create a card pairing RS's South Park character with Mecha Streisand...LOL. Would probably be a hit with RS' nephews? Cure-iously, right next to Mecha Tarra is a card for Donald
DeleteDump?(!) with DT sitting on the "throne".

Jason is less obvious but Roger Robert Simon and Reeves are pretty noticeable theyre not cards the Topps site describes them as 2.5" x 3.5" stickers
ReplyDeleteJason always gets the shitty end of the stick !LOL. He's the only one that's not recognizable...
