Pearl on Gonjasufi's new album

"The mystical Californian bass music enigma Gonjasufi tends to go quiet for long periods of time, and we haven’t heard anything from him since his 2012 album MU.ZZ.LE. But he’s just announced that he’ll release his new album Callus next month (out 8/19 on Warp), and it’ll feature Pearl Thompson, former guitarist of the Cure, on a few tracks. First single “Maniac Depressant” is a short burst of moody, gothic psychedelia, and you can hear it below." (Thanks @is_maith_liom)

    So Pearl hasnt quite given up on music, as we were all previously informed of...I do wonder if there were other, maybe harsher words, when he auctioned off and left Porl behind?

      Well you know what..people can do whatever the fuck they want and Porl/Pearl is a very talented guitarist...I would welcome his return to The Cure for sure but support any project he's in because he's that good and he's a part of my upbringing and some of my best memories as a preteen and now into my 40s....Best Wishes!!!

    Wondering if maybe Pearl is based out of the LA area these days? I dont know anything about Gongasifi (sp?) but it fits with the tone of the animist Malibu paintings that showed at Mr Musichead last year. Hoping it will be a fertile environment for whatever Pearl has up his tattooed sleeve ;-)
