No orange vinyl? No deal...
ReplyDeleteAnyone know if this is the RSD version re-pressed? if it is the US, Kevin Grey cut version gets praise but my UK version is dull as dish water compared to an original pressing.
ReplyDeleteAmazon lists this as "The 2013 Record Store Day release will be reactivated as 180 gram black vinyl."
ReplyDeleteI actually wasn't too impressed with the red (US) RSD pressing. Some really bad muffling/sibilance throughout. Could admittedly very well be my stylus/setup, but I doubt it.
Coloured vinyl is awful. It's a different material using the same presses as the regular black vinyl. A 180g disc won't make any difference to the sonics whatsoever unless it has been newly remastered & even then it will sound exactly the same as a 120g vinyl. The only benefit of the heavier vinyl is that it doesn't tend to warp as much. The only saving grace for this re-issue is that it's on virgin black vinyl & not some mickey mouse orange rubbish that would be better off made into a wall clock.
ReplyDeleteI have both the original pressing, pressed on "audiophile vinyl" (basically just a promo record pressed on better materials) and a red RSD pressing. I like the original pressing more, it sounds more full and alive, not as loud as the RSD pressing. The RSD pressing isn't that bad, but it isn't that great or exciting sounding either.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI've gotten 2 different copies of the black vinyl pressing, and there are a whole bunch of loud pops in Catch. On both copies! Anyone else have that problem?
