Though listed for only 105 minutes, I wouldn't be surprised if they play for a full 120. Curfew is 11 PM, so you know Robert will use every extra minute he can.
Also, some bad news for those of you hoping to see Thurston Moore in Toronto or Chicago - "Unfortunately, Thurston Moore, will be unable to perform in Toronto or Chicago due to unforeseen visa issues."
Update (09/04/14): As expected, the schedule has been adjusted. The Cure get 10 more minutes. You'll get your full 2 hour set. (Thanks
there will be any webcast?
ReplyDeleteOf the schedule announcement? No. :)
DeleteI assume you mean of the shows? No, doesn't look like it.
hehehe,,, guess i need to be more specific!!! yes, i mean the shows :(
Delete1 hour and 45 minutes is not a lot of time (I hope Chicago is longer)
ReplyDeleteooops, forgot the link

Outdoor curfew for events in TO is 11pm, after that the promoter gets fines (especially in a government park). Given the band's history they'll more than likely go as late as they can and Riot Fest is accounting for that by giving them a buffer of run-over time.
ReplyDeleteYep. That's exactly what I'm thinking. They should end up with a 2 hour set.
DeleteAs much as some dudes would like another 50 song triathlon, 2 hours is ample considering I wasn't expecting the band to play within 500 miles of Toronto until a proper tour. Like finding a tenner on the ground and cursing it's not $20. Pretty stoked.
DeleteBefore I knew about the single day pass, I ended up paying for the 2 day VIP. It's more than I've ever paid for a Cure show and so I was hoping for a great long set considering that for most festivals they have played for around 3 hours.
DeleteThat said, I wonder if The Cure will stick to the 11 pm curfew, or if they will keep playing until RiotFest pulls the plug on the show. :-)
Fair enough, but for somebody flying from Vancouver to Toronto specifically to see The Cure, I would have loved a 2.5 hour slot.
ReplyDeleteWhy would Thurston have Visa issues to play in the US? I get there could be issues for Canada, but he's American. Not that I'm going to either of those shows, just wondering.
ReplyDeleteNever mind. I read further on the Riot FB page. The Visa issues are with his band members, not Thurston.
DeleteThis is exactly why I skip festivals. Sun, other shitty bands, too many people, and 'only' two hours of The Cure.
ReplyDeleteDoubt anyone will read this last minute but I'm heavily interested in a Cure shirt from Riot Fest if new merchandise is available? I would PayPal the amount plus postage. Thank you.
