Chicago Riot Fest starts today

"The 10th Anniversary of Riot Fest & Carnival begins today. Be safe, take care of each other, help and meet the thousands of people who have traveled from all over the world to celebrate with you, the bands, and us. We know we can be real smart asses sometimes, we truly love you guys...the most loyal and absolutely best fans in the entire world.

We have one last treat for you going into the festival weekend, a curated playlist of fan favorites and rarities for the die-hards out there who never thought they'd get to hear that one song live. The participating artists have agreed to incorporate these tracks into their setlist this weekend as a special thanks for your support of music. So, celebrate alongside us because this one's for you.

Your grateful chums,
The Gang at Riot Fest"

And if you want to be impulsive and make a last minute decision to go, it's not too late. Buy a 2 day pass (Friday & Sunday or Saturday & Sunday). All other options for Sunday are sold out.

Safe travels, everyone! I'll be heading out Sunday morning. This is going to be a blast!

  2. Hey guys
I'm heading out tomorrow. Could anyone already there report on how muddy it's getting from the rain?
    Thanks

  6. Yes very muddy, rainy, windy, and cold. But the wife and I still had fun. Bring a hat and gloves and dress in layers this weekend. It's gonna be chilly, especially once the sun goes down.

  8. I think muddy is an understatement. It's basically like walking at a farm, in puddles. Any shoes you wear are going to be caked, and probably ruined (so wear crappy ones!). Also, if you have VIP tickets, make sure you map out how to get to the VIP areas before any big band start because it's hard to get to them once there are a ton of people blocking the entrance. The map is useful, but it doesn't show any of the barricades or fences they have set up, so what looks like an open space between stages where you can walk, it's probably not (especially behind stages).

  9. Anyone go in the haunted house? Good? Worth the $10 or is it very short? Thinking I might skip a lot of other stuff if the mud is really bad. Just see Billy Bragg, grab lunch, and find a decent spot at the Riot Stage for the rest of the day.

  10. Craig, I didn't go in, but it's hard to tell because all of the rides, attractions, etc. were empty due to the mud and rain. I'll let you know tonight after I go today what the conditions are like. -Sean
