The Cure play Voodoo Experience 2013!

Ticketmaster says The Cure are playing Voodoo Experience 2013, and I believe them. :) After 13 long years, The Cure finally returns to New Orleans! Welcome back! Thank you so much!
And just a reminder that this is VOODOO...in New Orleans...on Halloween weekend (though I dispute this), so a dark set? Please? I mean if The Cure are playing Voodoo they HAVE to play 'Siamese Twins', right? "Voodoo smile, Siamese Twins". Come on, Robert! :)

Update: CoS has contacted Voodoo and they have confirmed it! And yes, it is now official!

Update (Sept. 5th, 2013): The daily schedules are out, and The Cure are playing on Sunday, Nov. 3rd, from 7 - 9PM. Kid Rock right before them. And as expected, the general 3 day passes have jumped up to the $200 level now.

Update (Oct. 1st, 2013): "A limited number" of single day tickets are now on sale. $87 + TM fees. Also, as most of you know, How To Destroy Angels have unfortunately had to cancel their appearance at Voodoo and Mountain Oasis.

  3. Really hope this comes to pass for you Craig! It would be truly awesome to see them in the great city of New Orleans. Hmmm....may have to make a quick trip.

  4. Thank you. No need to cross fingers, it's a done deal. Or so I've been told. :)

    2. Ah, right! I will cross everything I have, for the next several months, to get a dark set. :)

  5. siamese twins is in my top 5 cure songs & been fortunate to see them do it live twice (not enough mind).

anyway, i hope they confirm this for you craig.

  6. :( I was so hoping New Orleans would be a real concert. I thought festival season was over, LOL. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get the much-coveted dark set, Craig! (and that we get a streaming video oh please oh please I hope they do that)

    1. Thank you. Can't remember if they do a live stream, but they do show recorded sets, and have a partnership with Fuse, and they usually broadcast some of the sets on their channel

  7. I'm happy for you Craig! We'll all be hoping for that elusive dark festival set!

    1. Thank you. With all of these wishes for a dark set, maybe it will actually happen.

      Ah, to wish impossible things.

And add that to the set, too! :)

  8. festivalsearcher.com talks of a 90,000 capacity each day. Confirmed ?

    1. No. But even if so, they've never come close to that number. Also, they've moved to a new part of City Park for this year, so all previous capacities and such are irrelevant.

  9. Congrats Craig... I feel like you won some contest. This year is getting to be $$$$$.

    1. Thanks! So do I. :) And for me, I now get to save all of that ACL fest money, or put it towards another trip. :)

  13. This is great news... even though the flyer has the headliners listed backwards. It should read "The Cure + Nine Inch Nails + Pearl Jam" ;)

    1. Maybe that's the order in which they are headlining? PJ on Friday night, NIN on Saturday night, and The Cure closing it on Sunday night.

    1. Yeah, so was I. I know hoping for a dark set or for Siamese Twins is pretty unrealistic, but why not wish for impossible things? Sometimes those wishes actually come true. :)

    2. Sometimes I think "we" know more about the Cure's catalog than Robert does.:) (only half kidding)

  15. What fantastic news. I am so excited for you, Craig. Good things happen for good people.

    1. Aw, thank you so much, Jo. You know how happy this makes me. Really wasn't sure if I'd ever see them play here again.

And nothing like a Cure show that you don't have to spend a fortune to get to. :)

  16. And the voodoo dolls in Close To Me could be referenced as inspiration for costumes.

  17. Just caught up on this. Thrilled for you Craig and for NOLA too. I'm sure it'll be the best set of the year!

You know if there's a livesteam we'll all be looking for you down the front!

Now to go buy that lottery ticket so maybe I can go too.......

  18. this is very cool!! i was holding out going to ACL for something like this...unless ACL does single day tickets [not to know their incredible line-up]. voodoo will be a good one!!

since they're sticking around the states for at least a bit longer now, will they do some additional shows like monterrey, mexico? wishing for dallas!

  19. HOLY-CRAP!!! i'm in like Flynn! managed to round up a small posse to come on down & tear-up the big sleazy w/!!! (jst booked our plane tix & hotel rms) ... now all we need are festival tickets (sunday only)

  20. keeping my fingers crossed for a deeply moving, haunting-sweeping-drama from the lads!

  21. The Cure at the same time as How To Destroy Angels, that's retarded.

    1. Right? The 2 bands I want to see most, on at the same time. :( I did see HTDA in Chicago in April, which lessens the blow a little bit, but they were incredible, so that just makes me want to see them more.

Here's hoping Trent sees the error and gets them to change it. No way he's going to miss half of The Cure's set.

    2. It really shouldn't take a genius to figure out that there's a lot of overlap between fans of both bands. Hopefully the schedule is not set in stone yet.

    3. HDTA have canceled their Voodoo performance due to 'unforeseen production conflicts'...

    4. Yeah, saw that last night. Very disappointing.

  22. "Siamese Twins" is one of my favorite early Cure tracks. Hope real fans get to hear it!

  23. it's awesome that the cure are closing out the festival. i wonder how they feel being right after kid rock? that's surely gonna be a mixed and slightly awkward crowd. i hope the band finds some humor in that.

"bawitdaba...my name is kiiiiiiiiiiid kid rock!" [explosions and flames] ...followed by "i really don't know what i'm doing here"

    ReplyDelete
  24. Too bad re: Angels cancellation ~ now if only we can get rid of kid rock...

  25. Looks like The Cure snatched an extra 10 minutes. They're up at 6:50 instead of 7:00 now.
