  1. In fact it was sold out. In such big big concert, you zlways have few tickets left : last minute cancellations, bank refusals.... and it's too late to sell them before the gig start and it's not worth trying by opening an office on the D day or something

    1. Official numbers say otherwise. Not sold out, but I'm sure no one really cares either way. They made a ton of money, played an amazing show, and made 57,304 people very happy. Or so I would guess. No official numbers on that. :)

    2. Have a look on official figures for this kind of big gig, especially on Billboard Boxscore, and you'll see that almost none of them is said to have sold out for a very tiny number of tickets. It's a technical issue ; that's xhy I wrote it was sold out. I think the problem is coming from the fact that promoters use several networlks who send tickets back at very last minute, tickets that can't be sold through any data system.
At Foro Sol, it was exactly the same for Radiohead, just to mention once.

  2. i see your point in being 100% accurate Craig - but having *just* 62 tickets left, from a total of over 57,300 tickets available for purchase?

Ive been in the Foro Sol before - and those 62 tickets couldve have been in one of the massive GA standing room only sections, where 62 fewer people would not have been noticed.

  3. Congratulations to the band for a new live success I hope Austin is a signal that perhaps they could return to europe nex year....
I hope the cure make at least a new and dark álbum because everyday it seems they just play gigs like Rolling Stones.

  4. ah, it's a shame it didn't sold out.

also, i find it funny, i don't understand you david and unknown, you got a X number of tickets, you sell Y number, there is 62 left, it's not sold out, period, whatever the reason.

Any other datas Craig, cost of production, money in Robert's pocket... ?

    1. See above. Regarding numbers it wasn't exacly sold out but it's now impossible for such big event to sell exactly the overall tix.

    2. its a matter of venues having enormous General Admission areas. You can call a sell out easily in a sports arena, or when there are temporary seats installed on the field of a stadium.
But the *entire* floor of the Foro Sol is standing room only. Meaning the promoter could have said - ok issue 1,000 more. and if those sold - then issue 1,000 more on top of that.
the final capacity of the stadium is not perfectly fixed, and will vary on what the promoter and band feel, can be sold.

    3. Yeah and you can put some pre reservation, invitations... aside and some don't come then you put them on sale lately... It's a pity because there are people outside that could have entered. It's more complicated with very big venues.

  5. I tried to gather reliable information ; I think I might be high for Ascunsion and low for Buenos Aires. Anyway about 276,500 people attended the 8 dates. That could represent 16-18 million dollars.

For their entire carreer, I estimated global gross sales (albums, singles, videos, soundtracks, covers, TV broadcasts, concerts, merchandising, rightfs....) at more than 1.5 billion euros (adjusted for inflation).

  6. I kind of don't think there is a real "sold out" number for Foro Sol (or a maximum capacity number either). They definitely kept adding tickets to the front GA section. They were on sale again just hours before the show started. And if you google sold out capacity for Foro Sol you get a range of numbers-- For Depeche Mode, it says sold out at 52,520.

Anyway, I feel super lucky to have been one of the 57,304. It was an amazing show- "sold out" or not.
