Do you own a copy of Five Swing Live?

"I have started a venture to try and discover where in the world the 5000 copies of FIVE SWING LIVE are located. A fun thing for me to do and maybe a bit of historical info for The Cure’s web site.

I am looking for the names of the owners (optional) and where they live and the NUMBER of their copy (with photo of CD cover if possible). I think this would be an interesting study to discover just where these have ended up and how? The diversity of Cure fans and all things Cure never ceases to amaze me. I started yesterday and have received a few replies already and have been sent a couple of web sites that have provided me with emails or contacts of Cure fans with FSL CD." (Thanks Murray)

    There's probably a copy somewhere in the north east of England, as I recall seeing one for sale on release in HMV Newcastle. I didn't buy it for reasons I still don't understand. :-(

    An ex-girlfriend of mine in Buffalo, NY, LoriRose, had a copy while we were dating that she'd told me that a friend had bought for her. However, she broke up with me over eleven years ago, and I haven't seen her in about 4 1/2 years, so I have no idea what the number is or if she still has it.

    "five swing live" is a numbered 5000 only ltd edition cd of 5 songs - want/club america/mint car/trap/treasure - recorded on the uk leg of the cure's 1996 "swing tour". it's mixed and artworked by robert... 25% of all profits will be going to the international red cross... it's only $15 (fifteen dollars) plus handling... and it's available exclusively here at the cure house... to order...

    This still brings back bad memories. I bought one and never got it. I followed through with about 6 different people who were in charge of the release for over a year. Each time they promised to fix the situation for me so that I'd get my copy. It never happened and finally they stopped responding and I just decided I'd never get it and I didn't.

    Interested to read the comments from explodingboy and Steve.

    I 100% definitely seen a copy on sale in HMV (who do not sell used copies, plus memory tells me it was shrink rapped). That doesn't fit with the RS statement that it was available exclusively online, although I'm not suggesting that he (also) lied about this! Interesting that Steve got the runaround many times while trying to get a copy through the correct channels. I can swear as fact I seen an original copy on sale on the High Street, so perhaps Steve got the runaround was because (remaining?) copies had been diverted to other sales outlets.

    I emailed Murray, but mine hasn't shown up on the list so I guess I need to post my info. It's funny, I got through immediately when they went for sale online, and I was so bummed when my two copies arrived and I had one that was in the 3000s and one that was in the 4000s. Odd that some people got two sequential numbers. I thought it must have been random since I got my order through in a matter of seconds and I ended up getting two higher numbers that weren't sequential. I gave away my copy in the 3000s a few years back. I kept the one in the 4000s, just because I liked the number more.
