Robert interview after Hurricane Festival

ZDF have a 36 minute interview (direct link - YouTube) with Robert, that was conducted just after the Hurricane Festival.
(Thanks Sasa and bias)

Love how Robert throws Simon under the bus once again, blaming him for all of the pop songs in the set. : )

Robert also says he's recorded a cover of an xx song ('Heart Skipped A Beat') for one of their upcoming projects, and he thinks he'd like to record a new Cure album with Reeves, and they have already written one new song, but it's catchy and a pop song.

He also still hates Facebook (yes!), Twitter (no!), and McDonald's (yes!). : )

I'm not giving any more away. Just watch it. It's brilliant and hilarious. More of this, please.

  1. Lovely interview, Robert seems to be in good spirits. I love the poppier songs as much as the darker ones.

  5. I know its a free country - freedom of speech etc but I can't agree with RS and his views on the Royal Family. I admit it - I'm an ardent Royalist! Everyone loves a Princess (Kate!) and I went down to the Thames a few weeks ago to cheer on the pageant. Rule Britannia! Still, each to their own.

    1. sorry, but what's so great in having a queen or king? I will never understand that. I disagree with robert in one point. the cure should be more political. this is what the world needs now!!!!! forget those lazy royal b******s! the language of karl marx may be dead but the ideas are still important!

    2. Hopefully the (obvious) politics will stay out of the limelight. I don't particularly care about their political views. As I remember from years ago, Robert has said politics have stayed out of the band's presence due to wide political view points within the band.

    3. i only remember robert complaining once about lols sympathy for the tories. i think it is not possible to avoid politics. they define our living if we like it or not. so it's better to get organized to avoid furure nightmares;-) and i guess music can also do its bit.

  12. Wohooo, I finally manage to post a comment here! This interview is brilliant, Robert is so chatty! I wish the guy interviewing him was better but Robert answers so much more than he was directly asked. I love it!

  13. Great news they're writing new material! A new album with Reeves joining the band would be sweet!

  15. Okay, now the audio will work, but not the video, and I can't pause it or rewind it or anything. Hmmm :/. At least I got to hear it! It's quite possibly the best interview ever.

    2. They didn't. I think it was something about my school internet. At home, the video loaded (from the direct link only), but it was frozen on the first frame (though the audio played). But I was able to save it as a QuickTime movie and watch it!

  16. Literally the best interview with Robert I've ever seen! Pretty hammered, but bloody hilarious!! So pleased there are still some sane people in the world. I'm absolutely sick to death of watching my fellow countrymen worship a bunch of brain dead aristocrats. He's absolutely bang on - England is a very disturbing place at this present time. Long live King Robert! :-)

  17. I would give anything to attend one of his "family get-togethers"... Imagine hearing him sing at the piano with his dad! Watching that interview was the the best-spent 36 minutes of my day! Thanks for posting!

Craig, would you be so lkind to tell us how to watch the video (with Iphone for example)? I can't using the links you posted.

  32. Such a great interview. You were right, Craig. I wish I could download it, but then I'd probably not watch it again or lose it.

I wish Robert realized how awesome he was being so honest and funny. He just seemed embarrassed, but it was so cool!

  33. I LOVE how Robert Smith explains the absurdity of the monarchy around 32 minutes. The idiotic media and right wing culture in Canada that constantly kisses up to the Queen could learn a thing or two.
