It's one of those days where the rumors are flying all around. Here's a new one that would make a lot of fans happy IF it's true:
"a good friend of mine who i would class as a reliable source called me rather excited as he has been informed by a UK promoter The Cure will be playing the Reading/Leeds festivals in late August. Official announcements are not due until March but i guess 'watch this space' ". (Thanks John)
Again, keep an eye on the official site for any confirmations and official news on all of these rumored shows.
And just to be absolutely clear, as of today, The Cure have not announced/confirmed ANY shows for 2012.

Can't see this one happening, maybe in 2009 when they won the NME award but not now.
ReplyDeleteUnless they don't headline of course, thats the only way I could see it happening. But The Cure not headlining a Festival is even more unlikely.
ReplyDeletei really hope this stays a rumour.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was vice-chair of the Culture & Sport Panel on Reading Borough Council in 2008 I suggested to Melvin Benn that he should book The Cure to headline. He replied: "That's an idea... for the Radio One stage".
ReplyDeleteI can't see that happening!
I hope he's changed his mind.
I can't see this happening either, both these Festivals are mainstream & usually headlined by which ever band is deemed ‘hot’ in the eyes of some corporate clown.

DeleteNot really their style any more, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteWhilst I'd love a couple (or more) Cure gigs here in 2012 I hope to hell this isn't true. Reading and Leeds suck big time balls.

ReplyDeleteI hope that we get some real gigs this year and not festivals. I'm getting too old to stand in a field for hours to get to the front nowadays :)
ReplyDeleteI had a look at efestivals site which has proved to be fairly accurate over the years. So far, there are only Foo Fighters and The Killers rumoured for the Main Stage at Leeds and Reading:
