More from Robert

In response to fans worried about him not signing things in the future, Robert replied in the comments at the official site:
SIGNING...
IT'S UNLIKELY I WILL STOP SIGNING STUFF... BUT ITS USUALLY CHAOTIC PRE/POST SHOW - THROUGH FENCES/BUS WINDOWS/STAGGERING INTO HOTELS ETC ETC!!! - SO HARD IN THOSE MOMENTS TO DETERMINE WHO IS 'REAL' AND WHO ISN'T... I SUPPOSE MY POINT IS MORE THAT IF DEMAND FOR OVERPRICED SIGNED TAT DISAPPEARS, THE EBAYHOUNDS WILL FOLLOW SUIT... ? (SIGNING "TO XXX... " IS ALWAYS GOOD IDEA, BUT MORE OFTEN THAN NOT IMPRACTICAL... THERE IS USUALLY MORE THAN ONE PERSON TALKING AT ONCE (?!!) AND THE TIME IT WOULD TAKE WOULD LIKELY MEAN I WOULDN'T GET A SOUNDCHECK/GET WHERE I'M GOING/MAKE IT TO BED!)

  1. Robert should only sign boobs from now on. Solved.

  2. I had my copy of the book Charlotte Sometimes with me in NYC for Reflections, as I thought it would be cool to get Robert to sign that. Unfortunately I wasn't there when he came out and signed things.

Boobs would have been my second choice...

  4. having passed on several opportunities to approach RSX (around town @ hotels, etc) due to dignity (& viewing a zillion overweight fan's pics of him signing memorabilia while looking semi-discusted), i've now decided to totally hold out for a boob signature!!!
...better hurry, they're getting longer every day!

  5. I'm personally bored by signatures, anybodys. And although I'm the biggest Cure fan in the world I don't hang around stage doors awaiting a brief encounter with the Messiah. He would be so bored meeting me.. "Oh look it's fan number 2,342,157. Sure am glad we got this opportunity to meet."

  6. @Filthypit: I felt the same way. It was so unfair to see the same fans having the privilage to meet RS over and over again. I gave up for a while until patience and being at the right place at the right time finally happened.

What triggered Robert to comment about signing?

  7. Stephanie - It was his post about someone having him sign a guitar and then selling it on ebay. Then some people worried that he might stop signing things because it, and so he posted these comments.

  10. @ Exploding cure
Your comments is unfair not to so worse. i think when an artist sign an item, it's to bring joy and souvenir to a fan, not to see stuff sold on ebay. And saying that The Cure are not generous, I think you're not talking about the same band. Dozens of proofs that show exactly the contrary.

  11. Exploding Cure - That's the most nonsensical thing ever posted here. And that's saying something!

Robert and the band don't owe you/us anything. If they don't want to stop and talk or sign, they have no obligation to do so. Given some of the crazies they have to deal with, it would be perfectly understandable if they didn't. But as David said, they've always gone out of their way to be as accommodating to fans as they can be.

Maybe you just don't understands what he's saying. He has NEVER said he wasn't going to continue to sign things. He just asked fans not to buy the guitar that a fan put on ebay. Disagree with that? Feel free to bid on it. No one is stopping you.

  14. I hate the glorified/demigod side of music/entertainment. I love The Cure but hate how big they are. Just listen to their music and treat them like you would anyone else for heavens sake.

  15. What's the point of selling something you are supposed to be grateful about and something for what you've waited hours and years and centuries? I'll probably keep something with Robert's sign (or Robert's DNA, genes, cells whatever it comes from HIM!) as a treasure! Dont see the point of getting money for that, it's nonsense!

  17. I don't know about you but I prefer pictures over signatures.
Somehow I feel that pictures are able to capture the moment in a more complex and interesting way than an autograph, but that's subjective, I know.
