  2. Why does it mean Roger won't be with the Cure? Bestival is early September...

  3. Clive I think that Roger has some shows even a couple of days after Bestival or before.
I assumed that Roger after "Reflections" was in the band, but we don't know anything about that and if there will be another guitarrist.
Now I am confused because of the guitar contest. If Robert still plays that guitar....Maybe nothing has changed and "Reflections" was just a dream.

  4. Joseph - No, Roger was only invited back to play the Reflections shows, not to be a permanent member of The Cure again. That was made very clear.

Many hoped that something would happen as a result of those shows, but so far, it hasn't. Unless everyone involved is doing a great job of keeping it a secret for now.

And given the short notice he got for Reflections, it's possible that something might come up in the days leading up to Bestival. Roger knows most of the songs that they will likely be playing in a festival set, so not too much trouble to relearn those songs.

And Roger's other shows would not keep him from playing Bestival. No conflict there at all.

  5. Thanks very much Craig now Iam sinking sinking...hehe.
It's sad to read that cos It was so great to see Roger again.
I don't know if I'll be able to stand another year with porl and Robert playing without keys and that horrible sound of the shecter guitars...
But thanks again for your answer Craig and God save The cure!

  6. I'm with you Jospeh (Joseph..?); my heart sank when I saw the shechter thing too...after the bliss of seeing the "true" cure re-emerge in Sydney a couple of months ago...! I don't care what anyone says about guitars and effects etc...there is a chiming quality to the classic Cure sound which just seems absent in the "meat and potatoes" sound of latter years. Sigh. Who knows, as Craig said, it may be that secrets are being well-kept, and perhaps Roger will make an appearance...I do hope so!!!

  7. I am sorry by my nick Clive it should be Joseph but I don't know how to change it hehe.
Yes I totally agree and this is not just the shechters thing, the Fender VI string bass is a basic element in the cure sound.Of course I'd like porl to stay but with perry at least as lead guitarrist and keyboardist as in the Wish era.For me Perry's sound on keyboards in the wish tour was much better than Roger's (Sorry Craig :))
Compare anyversion of just like heaven with roger and just like heaven in the show video.Roger is superior pianist but heys on the cure are very simple.
    cheers :)
I'm looking forward to the soundcheck maybe.....

  12. ml68: Thanks! And I hope you get to see at least one the upcoming Church "trilogy" shows. Saw it in Chicago earlier this year, and it was fantastic! Really blew me away with how great they were, and how much they really seemed to be enjoying playing those songs.

  17. Wow, Eric, that was rude and unnecessary.

I'll be going to Roger's performance in Toronto. He's said that photography is okay, so I'm bringing in my camera and snapping some shots. I'll also grab some video with my cell phone, but I don't know anything about the acoustics of the place or how loud the performance is going to be, so the audio may or may not be of an acceptable quality.
