  2. I liked the song in the teaser but this is totally not Robert !!
This is more like Forest Gump meets Edwards Scisor hands (or Ozzy Osborn).
I expected something else (from the trailer) more depth but this seems a bit caricatural.
A lot of Robert references but totally not the same personality, so I wonder about coherency and authenticity that this film will have.
Not sure it's a good association with The Cure now.

They probably should have cast Robert Smith instead :)

  8. So, is this a sequel to "I Am Sam", where Penn's character has watched nothing but SNL Goth Talk sketches for years?

Agree with others, first trailer had me interested, this trailer makes it seem as though a comedian created a character based on an over the top perception of a "goth," then put that character into a dramatic film.

  11. Oh dear, looks like someone genetically spliced Wayne Hussey & Robert & came up with Edward Scissorhands with learning difficulties. I object on diversity grounds. Mr Penn's taking the piss out of us. The cad.

  13. Sean Penn looks like Robert in drag! He just looks downright scary while Robert looks so cool with the same get up. Sorry Sean you're not a good Robert look-a-like. At 1st glance it looks like a good movie but I do not know after seeing that trailer, kind of goofy. Wonder what it could have been like if Robert was playing the part instead of Sean?

  17. Come on guys, they're not having a go at Robert, they've just borrowed something of his look. I don't think Robert would be insulted by this. Not impressed, maybe, but I doubt he'd take it personally. The film seems to have a really odd concept, and I'd like to see if they manage to pull it together. I think we should all kind of lighten up, not take it so seriously; if they're using Robert's look in a serious film, it can't really be a caricature, can it? And even if the look, and by extension Robert, is cast in a bad light as 'immature' or whatever, who cares? We love The Cure, we love Robert, and there are always going to be people who...don't. I think I'll watch this, if I can, just because I'll enjoy the resemblance, and because it seems like a strangely warm film.

  18. @ newkid
i dont think it matters a jot about how alike or unlike seans character is to robert smith and im guessing thats not just fr me .. . the main point is that the character that hes created is laughable if not just plain embarrassing .. it makes me cringe to watch these trailers at just how plain bad it looks ..

  19. Oh dear God, that poster... Penn looks awful as a wannabe Robert clone. He just can't carry off the look. @deadboycraved, you've got it right - laughable & embarrassing.

  20. Hi I'm too late, I recently saw the movie, a few ... 4 hours ago , ... well I just die myself laughing ... and I couldn't believe all that bizarre thing. Really seems pure sarcasm, and at the end 'Cheyenne' just cut him hair, like saying 'well he grow up are a man' I would like to know what feel Robert seing this!!! (If he did it). Another thing, about the look, look this italian 7" with an unique sleeve :P http://www.thecurerecords.com/record.aspx?id=2774
