Bestival statement from Robert

Robert has posted this comment at the official site:
"creeeeeak... AS OF DECEMBER 3RD 2010, THIS IS THE ONLY CURE PERFORMANCE OF ANY DESCRIPTION BOOKED FOR 2011... WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING ANY OTHER EUROPEAN FESTIVALS, AND UNLESS SOMETHING REMARKABLE HAPPENS, WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING ANY OTHER EUROPEAN SHOWS! THIS IS AS CLEAR AND AS DEFINITE AS WE CAN BE... SO IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE 120+ MINUTES OF THE CURE NEXT YEAR (AS WELL AS A DAZZLING PANOPLY OF OTHER GREAT ACTS) WE WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU GO TO BESTIVAL! (HOWEVER, IF YOU LIVE IN SOUTH AMERICA, YOU MIGHT CONSIDER WAITING A WHILE BEFORE BOOKING YOUR TICKET... YOU NEVER KNOW... ) ONWARDS! RSX"

  3. Hope it´s not Rock (?) In Rio. So far the acts are sh**.
    But
    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Who goes to Chile goes to some carnivalesque and/or tanguesque countries, doesn´t one?

  4. I hope it´s Rock in Rio! Fuck the other acts! I only hope it´s not 120minutes+. I want 3 hours show!
(Especially considering that the concerts they did in Brazil in 1996were weak tea! - after 2004 they became a powerful band again!)
And I hope they don´t use presets. They don´t need them.

  5. I hope it isn't the only chance to see them, Bestival? Worstival if you live in the north of the UK (like me)... Really thought Chicago Lolla was on the cards, being the 20th anniversary year (as oposed to the Chile Lolla).

  6. 120+ minutes sounds fine to me. Hopefully there is a big emphasis on the '+'

If you can't tell, I'm well excited :)

  10. WEEEE I'm so happy for South America! You guys really deserve a good tour...

Massive shame that this is the only show they're doing over here but at least for me it's local...

Think this means I have to go...

  11. It sounds like The Cure machine is starting up again, this is usually the process; a few random shows before a bigger tour the next year.

Sounds like Bestival, and some SA shows are it for 2011.

120 mins? Not worth it to go to Euro for me. Probably will be a 'greatest hits' setlist with a few of the more popular album tracks.

I will wait until 2012 when I expect a real Cure tour, with the 3 hour shows.

  13. Bestival is my favourite! YAY! I might just dress up as Robert Smith :D

  14. So the $64k question is ....

What is The Cure's lineup for the show???

    A 3 piece unit again?
Is Porl back for the show?
    Questions .....

  15. "THIS IS THE ONLY CURE PERFORMANCE OF ANY DESCRIPTION BOOKED FOR 2011" Well isn't that just dandy. So, no more concerts and no music on the horizon. Why doe they only put a new album out every 5 years?

  16. robas.... i agree with you, the mexico 07 shows were so good, but isnt mexico still considered north america??

  17. ugh i need the cure back in my liiife.

  18. The Cure and Madonna are CONFIRMED headliners for Chilepalooza.

The only US show that might be in the works for 2011 is Voodoo that I know of.

Also, on a side note: on the website last month for Lolla in Chile, if you clicked on More Info there were four pictures: Robert Smith, Madonna, Chris Cornell and Zack De La Rocha.

  19. @C how do you know that they're "confirmed"? robert just said that as of now, bestival is the only show officially happening ("the only cure performance of any description booked for 2011"). also that picture has changed to snoop dogg. but of course it's very likely, especially given this new hint at a latin american show.

  20. And now there's this:

    TO BE EVEN CLEARER

I HOPED MY BESTIVAL COMMENT WAS CLEAR ENOUGH..."AS OF DECEMBER 3RD 2010, THIS IS THE ONLY CURE PERFORMANCE OF ANY DESCRIPTION BOOKED FOR 2011". BUT TO BE EVEN CLEARER...WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING ROCK IN RIO. WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE. WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING A LONDON SHOW IN THE SPRING... ETC ETC... IF THERE ARE TO BE ANY OTHER CURE LIVE PERFORMANCES IN 2011, THEY WILL BE ANNOUNCED HERE FIRST... ANYTHING ELSE ANYWHERE ELSE IS AS EVER MERE SPECULATION! TO GO...RSX
