Kate: You mentioned that you are trying to cancel your order, or will return it to them, but what about the sampler? I would imagine that you have to return that, too?
I received mine yesterday from Rhino and I didn't do any extra fast shipping. When I called on Tuesday to find out when I'd be receiving it, they said it was shipped out on the 9th and would take 7-11 business days. My receipt said it was shipped on the 7th so who knows. It did take a long time though which was not cool!
No news on the Rhino front. But as far as Amazon is concerned, I'm a bit miffed. I ordered a copy from Amazon on June 8th to be shipped to a friend who lives in Portland, OR. Last I checked, it left a warehouse in Seattle on June 14th. At this point it is still 'in transit'. Seattle is a three hour drive from Portland, btw. Expected delivery is June 25th. Curse you Rhino. Curse you Amazon.
Hello, Craig! Yes, I am going to return the 3CD. I have considered the issue regarding the sampler, but have not addressed it with Rhino. To be honest, I am fed up with them. Part of me feels that I have reason to keep the sampler. We will see.
Oh, I received my Rhino 3CD yesterday. I also received my folded poster from Ideal Copy. Let us see what today brings to the doorstep! :)
My Disintegration remasters CDs showed up on WEDNESDAY! (finally) : ) Rhino sucks..
I had called them and sent an email asking WHY it took so long.
here is the response
"Dear Autumn,
Thank you for contacting Rhino Customer Service.
The "The Cure - Disintegration CD" was released on June 8 2010, we will be able to ship the CD only after the release date. However, your order was shipped out on Jun 8 2010 through US Mail. Also, regarding the pricing it is all pre decided by the Management Team after analyzing the present market condition."
Guess what? My 2 Deluxe remasters *finally* arrived this morning. I was so relieved. My friend will be getting a very belated birthday gift! Haven't opened it yet, as the World Cup games preempt everything, as I'm sure Robert himself would agree. :P
I had pre-ordered them well before June 8, and this is the 18th, so exactly 10 days after.
still haven't got mine from rhino... got the sampler even after release day... fortunately i was a sucker for the b&n price and got that one quickly... so i'm not hurting...
i ordered the cd and vinyl. I was told it shipped on saturday. I chose priority mail which only takes 2 or 3 days. Its now been 5 if it indeed shipped when they said it did. You would think that the manufacturer would get it out to people before any other retailer. Complete opposite here. I find it ridiculous to say the least.
I also ordered it at Ideal copy to get the poster. That came on wed. I should have just ordered the cd from them too. Chris is great to deal with.
I am totally unhappy with Rhino. I wrote them and received the same reply as everyone else. As of today, there is no remaster in the mail. I have definitely learned a lesson.
i thought for sure rhino would be a winner... but the 3x3 sampler is really only a curiosity... so i've learned my lesson as well... i'd have rather had the poster offered by ideal.
rhino are a joke. i got the sampler cd and the corner was bent. I mailed them about my order (vinyl & cd), and they said it shipped the 12th and should arrive in 8-12 days. all i can say is the vinyl better be well packaged and both better arrive together.
I received my cd sampler around June 7 and the actual cd on June 10 if I remember correctly. By UPS which is funny as I thought it would be normal post. Oh well, no real complaint here I guess. Funny thing is I live in Canada. Seems they deliver quicker outside the US.
I received mine on June 11th, with no Sampler. After much complaining via e-mail and by telephone, i was finally assured that i would be receiving a Sampler. I got the Sampler a week later. My copy of Disintegration looked like it was thrown up against a wall with a lovely crease in the top left corner...love you much, Rhino...the local area Best Buys (St. Louis) do not have a single copy on hand.
After placing my order on Rhino I realized they are the worst. I called up and cancelled my order and bought the CD set somewhere else. Ideal Copy was very prompt in sending the vinyl.
I received my sampler one month before I received my order. Very dissatisfied with Rhino. I was literally dying to get my order. Sad to see I was by far, not the only one suffering with them. :(
It is very sad all the people complaining about Rhino and Amazon. If you only went down to your local independent record shop and bought one or had them order one for you then you wouldn't have this problem. But wait, the local independent record shop isn't there anymore. I wonder why? Maybe it's gone because you buy all you stuff online now. Stop the complaining, you've done this to yourselves. Deal with the big corporations who've already got your money and care little about how fast you actually get your stuff.
hahah, i love local music stores... but i love my money more.
even if the local could match amazons price... amazon still has an 8% advantage (no taxes for me... and most others) sorry... i did support the release and bought 2 copies, i bought the rhino mess for a redundant 3x3 sampler, and i bought the b&n copy because of the great price.
it's really the big music industry that did this to themselves... every other industry on the planet adapted to the online revolution... the music industry tried to build themselves into an impenetrable foxhole... didn't work out for them... they also started more or less ignoring any artist that didn't guarantee massive sales... which will only hurt them later... since all of their small un-promoted artist will simply vanish leaving no return on that investment... however small.... anyway
"local music stores" -yeah, right. Guys who sell burnt cdr bootlegs at FULL bootleg prices, and who gouge whenever possible on any prices that they can. The "corporation" and "walmart" arguments are no longer valid. Small business owners have done this to themselves, and there is no one else to blame.
ON TOPIC: vinyl and cd set arrived today 11 days after they shipped. Both in excellent condition due to the large box used to ship the vinyl. Thanks, Rhino, but I won't be ordering from you again.
As much as everyone is hating on Rhino...I think it was worth the wait to get the 3x3x3 Sampler. At least they gave us something for being tardy. Kudos to you Rhino...even though you are slow, i respect what you are doing by reviving a lot of my favorite bands back catalogs.
I almost always buy from the indie stores but there are reasons I stray from time to time (online or directly from label).
In this case, I pre-ordered from Rhino becos of the sampler, however, my pre-order was placed well in advance of the release date. I think why most people are upset, including myself, is that, if you are placing a pre-order you are placing a garaunteed sale for the company (Rhino) and that sale is no surprise for them to fulfill; this was done months in advance and yet they still dropped the ball in sending out the items they've all ready taken money for.
I figured Rhino was a sure bet becos they are the ones involved in this re-issue. I also figured pre-ordering was a sure bet becos in all my past experiences of pre-ordering anything ever, I either always get the item early or right on time. This was my first time pre-ordering any of the Cure re-issues, as I bought all of the others the day of release at local indie store Twist and Shout. What this ends up being for fans of any band excited about a re-release is a major buzz-kill. Rhino specifically stated in their receipt of the pre-order that they would notify via e-mail when the item shipped, however they only notified me after I complained.
I am happy now that I have it and yes, I do love Rhino's re-issues from Costello, to the Replacements, to The Cure but that doesn't absolve them from the poor service they provided this time around.
I have a small update regarding my order with Rhino...
The original release date was Tuesday, June 8. My order was standard shipping for $5.49, and it arrived to me on Thursday, June 17. That equals 8 business days or 10 calendar days.
I sent a package to Rhino at a cost of $4.75. It was given to the post office on Friday, June 25, and arrived at Rhino on Monday, June 28. That equals barely 1 business day or 3 calendar days.
Kate: You mentioned that you are trying to cancel your order, or will return it to them, but what about the sampler? I would imagine that you have to return that, too?

ReplyDeleteThanks, Summer. Let's hope everyone starts receiving them soon. Lot of frustrated fans emailing about this.

ReplyDeleteRhino are infamous for their shipping. Good rule of thumb is, if you want it fastest, choose the slowest/cheapest option.

Upon second inspection of my Rhino package, the envelope is marked as "TIME SENSITIVE MATERIAL"
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Received the 3CD today but no vynil and no sampler...

I called Rhino Wednesday. They said it shipped on the 8th. It finally came in the mail yesterday, Thursday, the 17th.
ReplyDeleteJust received my 3CD today, 06/18. The sampler arrived fairly quickly after I ordered, albeit with one slightly bent corner.
ReplyDeleteHi! I received my 3CD and vinyl this morning. It was a regural international shipment to Japan.
ReplyDeleteI got the sampler CD on June 5.
