"This just in from Hispacure: According to Universal Music Spain the Disintegration remaster will not be seen until 2010. They also mentioned that Spanish TMU does not know of any plans of the Wish remaster being released alongside the Disintegration one. This was mentioned because Spanish Rolling Stone magazine got together with Ivan from Hispacure and some other big shot at Spanish TMU to discuss the re-issues theme and write an article about it. "

ReplyDeleteAt least it's being released, though.
shoot, 2010 is only 2 1/2 months from now!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure if it was to have been released in '09 we'd have known by now. I say this is good news!
Yes, at least we know for sure that it's alive and well, and we have a tentative release date. Just hope it's early 2010, not late 2010. : )
ReplyDeleteUnless they want to put out the Dark Album first. : )
Bless those Hispacure guys!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Craig! ♥
nice one Craig - always coming up with the goods
ReplyDeleteThank Ivan and Carlos, not me. : )
ReplyDeleteTut tut, Craig..
ReplyDeleteTeasing us putting in a comment about the Dark Album.. :)
if the "dark album" ever comes out, i'll eat a live insect of your choosing. you heard it here first.
ReplyDeleteAs long as its getting released I'm a happy camper.
ReplyDeleteUmmmm, yea right. How many times have we heard something like this?? 20, 30 50?? This is becoming a sick joke.
ReplyDeleteMorris, it was supposed to be released in 09 and we "knew" that about 9 months ago. So was the "dark" album, Wish remaster, anniversary dvd, mixed up remaster...
ReplyDeleteLMAO
ReplyDeleteslowdiver, 20,305 to be exact...
ReplyDeleteThanks god it's still happening. I wish Robert wasn't so damn silent.
ReplyDeleteMust. Have. Lost Wishes. On CD.
ReplyDeleteI like the silent Robert
ReplyDeleteat least people can't really complain which healthier :)
I hope the next album comes out in the winter
im sure 2010 doesnt mean jan 1, probably closer to spring around Roberts birthday. i was looking forward to wish the most due to the "lost wishes". really the next 4, but i guess 1 is better than none. if rhino is in such bad shape wouldnt they want to put these out? with such a big and dedicated (cure) fan base, you would think this would be a bigger project for them. if rhino cant or wont keep this going, then there must be someone else willing to do so.
ReplyDeleteA dark album just will not sound right without a proper keyboard player. Just my opinion.

ReplyDelete2010 is in 13 days ;)
ReplyDeleteCraig,
ReplyDeletethe actual post on Hispacure when translated actually says that it is Roberts intention that Disentegration remaster will be released in the last quarter of 2009...so it will still be released in the year of the 20th anniversary.
But then we all know Robert is full of good intentions
sorry I didn't see the later post on hispacure..ok so it is 2010 :-(

ReplyDeleteperfect.murder - according to my watch the time is now 7.40pm (AEST) therefore only 30 minutes to go!
ReplyDeleteeven better!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather RS be silent that go on crazy rants about the record industry. (Not that his arguments weren't good.)
ReplyDeleteI still don't believe what is going on on this bloody 30 years anniversary.
ReplyDeleteNo official news for months, no dark album, no remsters (Disintegration, Mixed Up and Wish), no DVD documentary.
I mean we are in October and all the last quarter releases are scheduled already and there is no sign of any Cure stuff in the pipeline.
I still hope that something will come up suddenly, but being realistic I can't see it happening.
2010 in Cure time = 2014
ReplyDeleteRobert doesn't like birthday! Sorry boys nothing for you in 2009!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Cure fans should be used to play the waiting game by now. No use in complaining, I guess.
o_q
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteToday is a birthday
ReplyDeleteThey're smoking cigars
He's got A Chain Of Flowers
And sows a bird in her knickers
ohh...
They're smoking cigars
They lie in the bathtub
A Chain Of ... Flowers
I thought Robert loved Birthday!
i thought everybody already had lost wishes on CD...
ReplyDelete@Mark
ReplyDeleteBecause Pornography was so light and fluffy without one? ;)
Thank you for the update Craig (: It depends really whether it's January 2010 or December 2010 :/
ReplyDeleteDepends on which month hell freezes over because it won't happen before that occurs!
ReplyDeletes,
ReplyDeletetee-hee
and thanks hispacure team! it's good just to know, really.
Yes, I second that. Thanks a bunch to Ivan the Terrible & Carlos the Jackal.

The 'dark album' is never coming out in my opinion. It's obvious that since Coachella 6 months ago, RS has abandoned the entire '4:13 Dream' era.
ReplyDeleteAnd for good reason, the sales of that album were terrible.
Why would the record company even release the 'dark album'? The last one had more pop on it than Britney Spears and it didn't sell.
A 'dark' Cure album would be lucky to move 20K copies right now. Unless RS puts this out on his own, we'll never see it.
I'm getting the feeling that RS may just be done for awhile, maybe 3, 4 years until we hear something new or he tours again.
Even though the new Depeche Mode album is dog filth its still selling because they know how to market themselves, something RS has completely lost.
Ideally, Robert would keep us in the loop in terms of time in the studio, future releases, and the remasters stuff, but stay silent about his troubles with the record industry. If he wants to find a label that will appreciate the band, he needs to go indie, hop on Merge or Sub Pop or something. Someone that would respect the band and not expect them to be able to sell millions of copies of a record with zero marketing support.

ReplyDeletepfft. you're a bunch of gits. you can have your opinions, but you're just gits. that's all.
ReplyDelete"the cures darkness is the new brightness"?
INCOHERENCE!
lol sofia, first time ive smiled all day reading your nice wee comment there
ReplyDeleteand
not to sofia
re keyboards ,, if you cant hear keys since 2005 you need to relisten as they are all over the last two records
also , who gives a fuck how many records they sell or dont? if robert and co start making records purely on the assumption theyre gonna sell millions then they may as well make the next maddonna crap ,, you reckon the guy who made pornography or disintegration gave a fuck about that? honestly?
oh
ReplyDeleteyay to re issues
This COULD be a very shrewd business move IMO, 2010 marks the 40th Anniversary of Glastonbury and as usual The Cure are being whispered on Festival websites, more so this year seeing as though they have the most headlining appearances than any other band.
ReplyDeleteRobert hinted to the Eavis' during NME awards time that he felt snubbed that they hadn't invited them back. What could be better than Re-issueing your 2 best selling albums to coincide with a Glastonbury headline performance?
sound of someone falling....
ReplyDeletenoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Poor souls - don't you know nothing ever happens until RS says so and he's on hiatus. I'm sorry anything the Cure have ever done over the past 10 - 12 years has been so calculated, by RS, and by the way always late) You hear about it so far in advance that you start drooling, as you are now, and are always disappointed as you will be in 2010. Shucks! They have not even released the 2nd album from last year. It's a tsunami of BS from the Cure and I commend Craig for keeping a straight face(pen) about it all.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the poo pooing but I'm done. There's too much great music today to fall in love with as I did 25 years with the Cure. XXOO and out...
clearly you are listening to top 40 radio.

ReplyDeleteDo I detect a rising crescendo of discontent?
ReplyDeleteI guess so but i can't understand why...i agree with Lysdexia though, there's plenty of great music out there to discover, and that should tie everyone up till something new comes out from the band(and beyond).
ReplyDeleteFuck the great music out there, I want feelings and the Cure are the only band still in the music biz that can give me some, that;s why we do care what is going on with the band.
ReplyDeleteIf there are no plans for the dark album, remasters, celebrations, DVDs fair enough, we have lots of Cure and non-Cure recods to listen, but please speak up and let the fans know.
I don't think it's to much, do you?
I don't think they have a moral obligation to "speak up and let the fans know"..That will come naturally in a day or in a year whenever they are ready. As for the "fuck the great music out there"comment, i'm not going to go there..
ReplyDeleteThere are times that I miss the days before the internet.... sure, we had to wait for what seemed like forever for news, but we just waited patiently.
ReplyDeleteNow in the days of instant gratification everyone expects everything NOW. All patience has gone out of the window and fans seem to think that the band are obligated to keep us fully updated on every aspect of their world (Twitter, anyone?)
Don't get me wrong, I desperately want news of the remasters and MORE IMPORTANTLY the 'Dark Album', but I despair at people's expectations.
Moe: Oh, boy! The deep fryer's here. Heh heh, I got it used from the navy . You can flash-fry a buffalo in forty seconds.
Homer: Forty seconds? But I want it now!
i have a great idea. let's squabble amongst ourselves on the internet!
ReplyDelete*waves wildly at MB*
ReplyDeletesquabble away!

ReplyDeleteinformation overload!
ReplyDeletedisintegration, mixed up, cure at bbc box set, in orange and show on dvd, and..........
time for a lay down :)
There you go..news...just got to ask! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my. I feel dizzy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Robert. ; )
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed they didn't include the extended version of 'Pictures of You' - from the 1990 12-inch single.
ReplyDeleteIts a slightly different mix to the original: bass and drums higher in the mix, guitar much lower in the mix. It runs for 8 minutes and 14 seconds on the digital recording I imported onto my Mac from the 12-inch but sadly its washy due to needle-wear. I'd love a crystal clear version!
No idea who did the slight remix (band member or remix artist) but for a variety of reasons its my preferred version of the song. (Among the non-subjective reasons: its longer, has a longer instrumental introduction and includes that pause in the music (at 4:53) that the band took to incorporating into their live versions of the song!)
During '120 Minutes with the Cure' Robert played a video for 'Pictures of You' that used this exact version as the soundtrack. Before I came across the 12-inch (and then lost it in a break-in), I listened endlessly to a rip of the audio from that video recording. I did the same thing with the instrumental version of 'The Big hand' from the credits on 'The Cure Play Out' video cassette.
Perhaps it'll be made available as a digital download - on iTunes or their own site. Fingers crossed! If Bowie can offer the 12-inch extended remix version of 'When the Wind Blows' on iTunes, then this seems like a no-brainer. (and yes, I made a digital recording of that Bowie 12-inch remix too... But I immediately bought the digital download from iTunes when I stumbled across it.)
Despite all this, I'm totally psyched about the 3-CD re-release of Disintegration next year. 'Pirate Ships' was made available as a digital download years ago - if its any indication of the songwriting quality of the other previously unreleased tracks, then the wait will have been worth it.
Rock on!
peter
and i laugh as i drift in the wind!
ReplyDeleteho ho, fairweather fans!
news from the horse's mouth!
I havent even bothered to listen to the last record. But there's a big difference to doing keyboard stuff in a studio and doing them live..and no one is able to pull off proper keyboards live for them now, which is a shame. I watched some video of plainsong recently recorded at some show and thought it was dreadfully horrid using just guitars for the kb parts.
