As first mentioned back on Oct. 14th, Eagle Rock will be releasing Trilogy on Blu-Ray in 2009. The date has slipped a bit, but it IS coming. It's now scheduled for release on Feb. 3rd, 2009 (US) and on Feb. 9th, 2009 (Europe). (Thanks Fuji)
Update: Listed for pre-ordering at CDJapan, Amazon (UK), Amazon (Germany), Play (UK), Play (Euro). (Thanks Andreas)

ReplyDeletewish I had a blu-ray player. i thought the regular DVD looked awesome with the cameras they used, everything was already crystal clear. I bet it will look amazing on blu-ray.
ReplyDeletei just wanted to wish everybody happy holidays since i wont be around until after the new year!
ReplyDeletei wish you all health, wealth and happiness!!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Blu-Ray is just a fad.
ReplyDeleteI want to know when they're going to put Trilogy on Betamax!! :D
I thought HD DVD was going to win the format war...
ReplyDeleteAhh fuck it. Let's just wait for 3D then all you lovely ladies can have the infamous PHT (and all the content) gyrating in your living room.
I want this as well. I hope they put in some extra stuff - there's a lot more room on blu-ray.
ReplyDeletei say clear up those f'in rights and bring us orange, sats and pic.show!
ReplyDeletefirst off blu ray is not a fad with more than 15,000,000 ps3's are in american homes. and now the dvd if i heard it right is was shot with hi def cameras thats why it looks good already. i want play out on blu ray and you can get pic show on import dvd from south america
ReplyDeletemethuselah will come back down from his spaceship with magic eggs for all humans on the earth- magic eggs bearing magic powers, mind you- before play out is released on blu-ray.
ReplyDeletethis could be a reason for me to buy a blu-ray player.
ReplyDeletei hope the blu-ray will get some extra stuff like a multi-angle option where you can see e. g. simon the whole time.
Yay!!
ReplyDeleteI mean...I assume with the 30th anniversary dvd collection all of the previous tapes will be released? Yeah? Maybe? Could be?
ReplyDeleteAlso...Robert...if you are reading...please make sure the anniversary DVD is released on Blu-ray as well. Thanks buddy.
I wasn't aware Sony sold so many PS3 in the States alone...
ReplyDeleteGuess the fact they are #3 in the console war doesn't really matter... as those numbers are... way over 9000!!
The PS3 has sold 16 million units worldwide. Only about 5 million in the US. That's as of November.
ReplyDeleteStill, a decent Blu-Ray player can be had for under $200 now.
Sesame Street MUST be released immediately!!

This is a top notch, recommended Blu-ray player:
ReplyDeleteSony BDP-S350 ($270-ish)
It seems obvious... but if you don't own an HDTV of at least "46 inches wide - don't bother with Blu-ray. Blu-ray really shines when you watch it on a HD-TV of 50" or larger.

ReplyDeleteHey just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or Festivus!

If they do the release justice, it will include a high bit rate PCM, DTS HD-MA or Dolby True HD lossless audio track. If so, this will be the first time to hear The Cure in an uncompressed or HD lossless audio codec at home. I'm sure the video will be a steller upgrade, but it is the audio I am looking forward to the most.

ReplyDeleteI don't plan on getting a Blu Ray Disc player for a good year. The only thing that's gonna get me to get this is if it has limited edition packaging. I bought the DVD release of Trilogy before I even owned a DVD player! I'm not rushing to get this, since Geffen seems to have done little to warrant the release; it would have been nice to get more songs from that 4th post-Trilogy hour setlist the band played.
ReplyDeleteMy friend has all but ripped the trilogy songs to mp3's. I'm sure someone else has already done this but if you would like me to post them all I can do so within a month.
ReplyDeletegot an e mailed from them said it will be one Disc blu-ray. it would be so cool.. with out having changing the disc...
