One of the best Cure albums shamefully neglected.
ReplyDeleteOh well, at least we have them to ourselves. :-)
I can't help but feel sad...
ReplyDeleteI can't say that this is an exceptionally big surprise.
ReplyDeleteWith the high volume of filesharing that occurs these days. Falling off the chart is no longer an indication of popularity. Unfortunately, it only signifies loss of profit for the band. I imagine their next tour will be as well attended as any.
ReplyDeleteI just hope they are able to break even on recording costs.
The tour was a maasive success ($10 million?).
ReplyDeleteThe Cure are still very popular, they just need to be promoted.
I wouldn't really blame filesharing on the fact that the album dropped so quickly. The band had four singles high on the charts at the same time earlier this year despite filesharing.
ReplyDeleteIts because of really bad management and no promotion.
yes, the key thing is PROMOTION and "4:13 dream" had nothing like that...
ReplyDeleteI just have mixed feelings about it. I lurve lurve lurve 4:13 and would like to share my ebullient joy with the world, but on the other hand, the Cure are MINE, so.................
ReplyDeletePlus, plus, it just sinks my heart to think that such a great album is so ignored.
OTOH, sales mean shit.
OTOH, dunno.
Ambivalence, I tellz ya.
i think they should sign to tom waits' label, Anti-
ReplyDeletehe has all the creative control he wants. they really respect the artists and their art.
having the singles high on sales charts doesn't really mean that they sold well.
ReplyDeleteWell, having a single at number 2 or number 3 on the chart does mean its selling better than the singles that are at number 4, number 5, number 6, and so on and so on...
ReplyDeleteThe probem about the poor sales is not if the new album is or is not good. The problem now is the MP3 who is killing all the bands!!! Now nobody buy records...
ReplyDeletein italy up 67
ReplyDeletethe esteem at the 5-12 are of 159.000 in increase.
ReplyDeletei can see why. im a huge cure fan but this cd was just horrible. to bad it started off so perfect with underneath the stars. i dont know wtf they were thinking for the rest of this. even wild mood swings had good ballads. im very disappointed.
