"Boy George names The Cure as his favourite band of all time on BBC Radio 2's 'Tracks of My Years' (starts at 2:16:05). "I've always been a Cure fan since their punk days, they make really cool pop. They make edgy gothic pop with wonky lipstick, which is always the best kind of pop". Track chosen 'Boys Don't Cry'. "

I guess that's why he's so good at the crying game. :P
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome... This is not to say that I ever was a big Culture Club or Boy George fan, but I think it's pretty cool that he appreciates the Cure, and I love the "edgy gothic pop with wonky lipstick" comment. I am always amazed at how many different types of people appreciate the music of the Cure. They are definitely my fave band of all time as well.
ReplyDeleteHeya Craig & CoF Fans - check out this remix - the vocal arrangementg is very simular to the RS & Billy Corgan version - -

He slagged them off on some BBC documentary (Brits in America I think)!!!
ReplyDeleteCrimson Tonight - yes he did. More important, when it was broadcast in the UK, BG was doing a live commentary on Twitter, slagging them off. Very odd that he should claim to be his favourite band now.
ReplyDeleteHe's quite the Gemini, the Boy. RS and the Cure are amongst a very long list of musicians, artists, pop stars, celebs he's done similar too.

Deleteugh, i absolutely hate this time of the cure year, when the tours are done, there's no new album or music ever coming out, and we're in for a lot of non-news. :(
ReplyDeleteHmm...silly me to take the Boy George news at face value!!!! Apparently, there is more to the story....
ReplyDeleteyeah, or maybe he's just back on the rock [subsequent bizarre behavior ensues]
ReplyDeleteHe probably changes his taste as frequently as he changes his addictions. He's apparently drug free once more so good sense & taste have obviously kicked back in!
ReplyDeleteI hope the cure name the new album, happy the man with the face that smiles
