Robert has posted the press release/PUFF for the Disintegration set. The official date is May 24th in Europe. Okay, Robert, now how about that previously mentioned Dallas Prayer Tour show on DVD/Blu-ray? Please? : )
Hahaha...you guys don't remember his use of Puff in the past? It would go something like "FIRST THE PUFF...THEN THE HIT!", where Puff would be the standard PR stuff, and the Hit would be more info that came straight from RS.
I always assumed it was a bit of a drug reference. : )
I hope that Robert won't announce the end of the band. Even if he doesn't have to justify himself or to tell everything, I'd love to hear from him about their relationships with Universal and Suretone, Lost Music label, the so-so "4:13 Dream" sales, the fantastic and successful world tour, the future of the band and who'll be there if they continue, a 5th member playing keyboards, Tom Yorke's hypothetical answer about his false 'music for free' concept, if concerts are scheduled, the dark album, next Deluxe issues, DVDs (Orange, Show, 4Tour, 30th anniversary...), reasons of the official forum closedown... Shall someone send him all that stuff ??! I take the opportunity of this post to invite you to read one of the most interesting portrait with a stuning interview of Robert contained in a book written by French journalist Yves Bigot about most important rockstars.
I'm just very pleased that 'pirate ships' is being released. that song makes me think of my precious little boy, and my own childhood. and makes me cry.
Thanks for explaining the "puff" thing. I had no idea.
There's video of the Dallas show? I've found other stuff on youtube. Live footage would be great!
I really hope Robert changes the mix for the dark album as that's what really hurt "4:13 Dream". Also, he's got to stop trying so hard to sound like himself with all the groans and snarls. Just relax that voice, Robert.
absolutely agree with muldfeld, about Robert's groans and snarls, love how sings on "the Top" "km km km" and also in some songs of the new album...but i hate when he wants to force his voice with groans and snarls as he does in 4:13
With this reissue coming, it'd be nice for the band to pull their Fenders out of storage, put Boris back in the seat & do a Prayer Tour Redux this summer.
Someone once said on this site that after Bloodflowers Robert changed his style of singing -- so true.
THE CURE and 4:13 seem to have Smith straining his cords like a bad American Idol reject. That might sound harsh, but the difference in his singing on most of the last 2 albums compared with past efforts often take me out of the song.
For example, The Hungry Ghost performance from Kimmel was (to me) classic Robert. It was like a time portal wayback. The 4:13/studio? Seems over the top, dawg.
I rather enjoy that Robert tries new things (with his voice and other...). It might not always work, or work the way WE want it to work. But I respect his desire for change. Evolution is always a positive, even if sometimes we can't see it. But I bet Robert does and that's what's important.
@ Morris - Definitely the Entreat Version. He uses the Bass VI in it where in the Trilogy he used the national. That alone makes the Entreat version better.
uh huh. suuuuure it is.
ReplyDeleteSo, out on Rhino the same day? There was no mention.
ReplyDeleteBrad: Should be out a day later in North America. And that's the date Amazon is listing.
ReplyDeleteHere's one of the unreleased songs, sounds cool! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shJmHOkJXDA
ReplyDeleteGood news, but WTF is PUFF all about?
ReplyDelete:( no updates on the flux
ReplyDeleteMaybe Robert has a magic dragon? Looking foward to this CD. It's been ages since I was last here. Any cure news is good for me.
ReplyDeleteUm yeah, apologies if it's just me being stupid, but what's "PUFF"?

ReplyDeleteHe better 'hit' us with some good news. Been ages since we heard anything concrete about the current state of the band.
ReplyDelete*Stands up on sofa and does some Tom Cruise style jumping*
ReplyDeleteBring on May!!
My guess is 'the hit' will be the list of DVD/Bluray releases Robert has been promising us..
Craig, I'd forgotten about that, it seemed familiar :D Thanks for the info, as always!
ReplyDeleteWhat about that exclusive iTunes album?
ReplyDeleteI'm just very pleased that 'pirate ships' is being released. that song makes me think of my precious little boy, and my own childhood. and makes me cry.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a blu-ray of that Dallas show. It was so great!

In my opinion his singing on Bloodflowers was boring as hell. Robert-by-numbers.

Hey Craig, just saw the new Dr Who episode. I think it's going to be a case of 'David who?' from now on. :D
ReplyDeleteAndrew: Impossible! But good to hear. : ) Can't wait to download and watch it tonight.
ReplyDeleteSo which live version of Disintegration is going to be the best? Entreat or Trilogy????
