  1. also, although this line-

"But really they could have dragged the guy who sleeps on the roundabout near my house down to the studio, given him loads of ketamine and strapped boxing gloves on him and he would have done a better job"

was pretty funny, overall i LOVE the production on this album. it's what was missing from the last two albums. though i was afraid at first that it might be OVERDONE, based on the singles, i'm happy to say that, in my opinion, that's not the case.

  5. Also about the Quietus review...how is UTS in the least bit in the style of The Kiss?

  6. New word of the day: digital compression.

Anybody felt like the Quietus guy was jacking off while writing this?
A lot of his examples just felt weird and strained. And I think the guy fell to much in love with his words.

  7. hynreck, you're just reacting to the digital compression unit that's lodged in your skull.

  12. it's wonderful, period. a very aggressive record, actually... kinda blatantly in yo face.

sure, flaws will crop up over time after copious listens, as with ALL cure records

but first listen i get a sense of YUMMYNESS

  13. One thing that blew me away was the last two tracks and how "Pornography" they sounded. It just took me off guard but in a good way.

  14. EXACTLY ANDREW

    VERY PORNO-ESQUE ESPECIALLY THE SCREAM

WHICH IS JUST MANIC MADNESS INCARNATED

    LURVE IT

The album is a bit lopsided but it WORKS that way

listening again and again and again

  15. Am I going nuts or does The Reasons Why sound very much like Strum?

  16. A bit

I LOVE TRW - best cure song since ever

And SWID sounds good good good nestled among the other songs - and yet as a single it kinda lacks

  17. OK - so I have read the Quietus review.

If anything "stinks worse than a fourteen-year-old's wank sock after a rainy bank holiday weekend in Southport." it would have to be this guy's review.

"UTS is in the style of The Kiss" (sic) WTF!!!!!!

This guy obviously likes the sound of his own voice, his 'descriptive' style, that would be funny if valid, just ended up annoying the crap out me. I started scanning the review rather than reading it due to the waffle that this guy had used to simply reach his 'word count'.

*wonders if she should go back to bed, and then get out on the right side*

  18. I have just read the Quietus review and there is a person who thinks exactly the same way I do about Roberts latest effort. It is clear he is "stuck in a rut" and is making albums at present to nobly attempt to satisfy the cravings of the his adoring fans. I would much prefer he took the time and effort and try to match the QUALITY of his older material and show some inovation like he used to.

  19. oh rayp, you amuse

    best album in FOREVER

and i love BF and WMS and like TC and b-sides like TGB

but of course i am mindless cure sheep

    baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

if the scream fails to induce you to thrash around wildly into walls and smash shit up then you MIGHT be comatose :-)

cheers ray... i mean no offense, but i don't get your mindset...

  20. As I said before in another topic....Once I get this album in my hands tomorrow, I'm going to stop reading the shitty reviews like the Quietus one.

That review was just dead awful but the rest were OK. Really it shouldn't matter what they say, it's just someone's opinion. I'm going to love this album no matter who loves it or not.

  21. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.........

I'm a mindless Cure Sheep too!

    Doesn't matter----70's, 80's, 90's & 00's Cure I Love it all!!!!!! I can't wait to get the album tomorrow! I'm super duper excited!!!!!!!! :)

  22. Actually I think the Quietus review is good, in the sense that it is valid point of view from someone who has clearly listened to the album. Personally I tend to agree with the overall sentiment, although I still like the album, so wouldn't be so negative about it. But I do thing it is overproduced, and I do think the songwriting is a huge improvement over 'The Cure'. I did prefer the production on that one, and, at the moment, much prefer the live versions of a lot of the songs, esp UTS and Hungry Ghost.

  25. going to the record store after work to get 413 as well as the new deerhunter and the dears...i like deer.

anyways, the allmusic review sucked. i read that yesterday and almost lost all faith in that resource. 2 out of 5 stars?! what i've heard of 413dream is a slip back into the 80s cure pop but mosdef a step forward from the last three albums. c'mon allmusic! i say 4 out of 5...at least.
