NME says so. : ) And they will play at the awards show at London's Brixton Academy on Feb. 25th
Rumor: And maybe O2 Arena as well?
"I have heard on expert authority that The Cure will be playing the 02 Arena in London to support the award - with approx 3 or 4 other major names to support this award! It will be a fantastic gig. This is an annual event, Manics headlined last year."
(Thanks Paul)
Update: Robert has posted the NME news at the official site, and leaves us hanging with this - "And the following night... ". Hmm...

ReplyDeleteThis is something I'd Love to be able to go to! I wonder if it will be on the tube???
Cure are officially "Godlike Geniuses"
ReplyDeleteTell me something I didn't already know!!!
But seriously folks, it is great seeing the band get the recognition that they rightly deserve.
*sends good vibes to the universe for a lotto win so I can head over for the awards*
i cannot believe other people have won this award BEFORE the cure. no. only one band ever deserves this honor.
ReplyDeletemaybe britdork could do live updates cat
ReplyDelete*snort*
My very first seeing of a CURE pic was in the early 1990.
ReplyDeleteSince that time, RSx IS A GODLIKE TO ME.
The CURE doesn´t need awards to be recognized as THE BEST BAND OF ALL TIME, imho.
But CURE and RSx have this award very well deserved.
¡¡¡ CONGRATULATIONS !!!
maybe the rumor is true, new news update at the official site leaves us with a cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteAnd the following night...

ReplyDeleteI don't think we will be short of live updates, i will definitely go and could try my hand at updating!
ReplyDeleteWow... I'm going. If it kills me, I'm going!
ReplyDeleteI also have it on very, very good authority that they will be playing the O2 the following night.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be huge.
The artwork on my copy of the album (and all those in the shop where I bought it) is a lot more yellow than what I see everywhere else. Not at all white in fact, but yellowish, and all the colours are more vivid. I really like it a lot better (love it!) this way, it reminds me of The Top artwork, whith vivid yellow, pink, blue and red.
ReplyDeleteAnybody can confirm that this is how it looks with their copies as well?
I am conflicted about the NME thing, but excited for The Cure anyway!
ReplyDeletego to nme to see the front page fro tommorows issue.
ReplyDeleteOK so Amazon didn't deliver the new album yesterday and I am back at work and hoping its waiting for me tonight....but if the O2 Gig is real I've got to go and it really will be a special night! I now don't know which I am mor excited about!
ReplyDelete"On the eighth day he created man in the image of Robert Smith and Godlike status would be bestowed unto him..and it was good!"
Genesis chapter 4:13
Mr. Bighead himself wins the Godlike Genius award. i'm sure he's just tickled right now! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the chances of me getting tickets to this thing is...???
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying because last time they played in London the dam things sold out in about 20 minutes.
ReplyDelete...and The Cure are unofficially "Gothlike Genuses"
ReplyDeleteI haven't been following a lot all the posts... but is there anyone out there who, like me, thinks that this album sucks! It's the worst album they have ever made, worse than Wild Mood Swings! Apart from Underneath the sky, and maybe Scream, this album is a terrible pop shit!
ReplyDeleteRobert and Co. can play whatever they think it's best, but I really don't understand how everybody can be so enthusiastic about this album! It's crap! Come on!
I bought my first album by the Cure in 1987 and saw them live for the first time in 1989, I have seen them live 25 times since then, 3 times during the last tour. I still love their music, but 4:13 is all wrong for me!
Please, tell me I'm not alone in this terrible pain!
eruceht, I'm afraid you are pretty much alone on this one. Don't you even like Switch?
ReplyDeleteeruceht, nope! you're ALL ALONE.
ReplyDeleteeruceht, well,...um,...maybe carole agrees. thats about it. um,....yeah...
