The album version of Underneath The Stars has just aired on the Bernard Lenoir show on France Inter radio! He says he will air more new songs on his show tomorrow (10-11pm in France). That will be 1-2pm pacific, 2-3pm mountain, 3-4pm central, 4-5pm eastern. Anyone up for a listening party?
(Thanks VincentD18 and wrongnumber)

Listen to it here (13:30 mark). Absolutely brilliant! Serious chills just listening to a mono version! Best Cure song in a decade...at least. (Thanks to Toberr@A Pink Dream)

Get the MP3 at TheCureRarities. (Thanks Ariel)

Listen to it on YouTube. (Thanks Eric) Too late, removed by TMU.

  3. I have been listening to X1FM.com and they started playing UTS this morning too... they've actually been playing all 4 new singles quite a bit in their rotation, at least every 2-3 hours. It is so LoVeLy.

  8. WOW!!! Cool!!! Awesome!!! :)

But do I want to hear it now or wait till I get the CD? Well in the land of Rap & Hip Hop (got to love Philly Radio) that's about all you'll get to hear. So I know I won't hear it much if at all!!!

OK I WANT TO HEAR IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

the file will open in real audio; UTS is around 13'

the mix is indeed surprising, far less simple than the live version(s)

  19. i have real player. it started tripping out and opened about 30 tabs on firefox in 10 seconds or so...hmmmmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wow... the mix is indeed much more complex than the Live Version but it's absolutely gorgeous. The best Cure Album Opener ever!!! Robert's Voice souds so fantastic... this is the best song since 1989!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. mix is OK... i wasnt blown away. nothing like the live version.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Merci Vincent et Pierre! :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Is there a way to record it and share it on mp3 or something ?

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's good but I REALLY like the live version better. Robert sings too sweet on the recording. There is something more passionate in his voice when it was live. IMO

Still good, still beautiful - still listening. :)

    Hi Peeps!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. ok 5th listen im starting to love it... incredible!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Second time through - rapidly growing on me.

    AAAAAnnnndddd the waaaaaaaaaves break...

Now listening for a third time :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love the soaring vocals, and the treatment of the vocals in general (I was worried about this :) ). I think it's very true to the spirit of the live version. Mmm!!! So happy! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. THIS is The Cure I love. Fuck! I've always loved this song, from day 1, and now it means so much to me, and they've captured it perfectly. I'm stunned!

    ReplyDelete
  29. arghhhh PLEASE share it on !!!!

    * dying sighs*

    ReplyDelete
  30. OH...

i was so worried they would ruin the mix..

    breathless right now.

not liking the drum sound, i like the beat/rhythm, but not the tone. the mix is more complex, but it sounds pretty faithful to the live. I prefer robert's vocals in the live, because its more powerful - i agree on what you said about that love. but for a studio and mono version, it sounds excellent. good sign for the new album

    ReplyDelete
  31. I just went out of my way to download Real Player because I have MAC...

And I fucking love it. Wow. I am having chills.

Anyone with a MAC, just download Real Player and you'll be fine. I was going crazy for about 20 minutes

    *repeats*

    WOW GHEOISHGOSIEHGESOIHGEOSG

    ReplyDelete
  32. DJ: Please let me know when you get the details. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  33. of course craig! :D

btw - hows the mp3 coming?

if theyre playing UTS on the radio.. then the promos have been sent out.. hope they end up on ebay sometime soon.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for sharing Craig and Ariel ¡¡¡

I´m just waiting for the 90 seconds warning for be able to download it ..

    ReplyDelete
  35. well, that was absolutely beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  36. DJ: The MP3 has been posted. And yes, I can confirm that the advance copies are out. But still not at Kmart. : )

    ReplyDelete
  37. DJ - where's the record release party? We could meet up. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well. The dilemma of "do I listen to anything that gets out before the release date" lasted the precise time it took me to install a Realplayer!

    That is fucking superb!

So worried it would be a letdown and soooo pleased the boys came through! Love the dreamy, low mixed vocals and the sound of Robert's six string bass in the solo is just.....

    ReplyDelete
  39. love - YAY. im waiting for an answer from aaron, details in 15 min or so
keep your fingers crossed i wont need a fake id ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. It's a pretty song!

My favorite part is vocal climax at the end.

It sounds really similar to the live version to me, though. I think you guys who say it sounds different must know the live version really really well.

    ReplyDelete
  41. this reminds me of the way robert used to sing. he's not overdoing it like he has for the last 10 years. hurray!

    ReplyDelete
  42. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!

    I am in heaven.....

    The waaaaaaaaaaaaaavvvveeeesssssss break.

    Fuck me!

My thoughts are running together and can't think of much to say except THANK YOU!! And OH YES!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh my freaking heck this is awesome. Craig and everyone who contributes this site...I owe you an expensive dinner sometime.

    This blows me away.

    If only...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Jesus, Cat. Just download the mp3.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Heh!
Great song, one of the best Cure tracks of the last decade.
I hope the rest of the album doesn't disappoint.
I fear that many old fans are looking for big atmospherics...

    ReplyDelete
  47. i finally heard it...

the transfer from the radio and on my comp just sounds too scratchy so i can't judge very well...

early impressions are too much echo on the vocals...

    love the layered guitars though

    ReplyDelete
  48. craig,that was the prob. i couldn't. now i have heard it.

    sorry.

    i'll leave now.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have to agree with you Craig, best Cure tune in a while for sure. I can't wait to hear version with frequencies over 2K! ;-) Sorry showing my dork audio side there!

  50. Simon´s first son is telling us that this UTS version isn´t the final track ?

How can he contacted you Craig ?

I think if he´s saying this, maybe we must to pay attention to his words....

    Or ???

    :/

    ReplyDelete
  51. hmm..., craig, you deleting comments again? the site isn't a way to download any leaks or anything, it's just a blog of people posting that things have been leaked. but no help in finding them or not.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I can't believe I'm the first to say this but:

    OH HELL YES!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. UTS is hands down the best Cure song I've heard in years! Even with the scratchy sound of the mp3......it is Absolutely Beautiful and Truly Amazing! I'm blown away! I loved it live & I love this mix too!

Robert's vocals are perfect! It all gets better with each listen. Cure Dreamland here I come!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Just got in and am downloading this now. My hands are shaking!

    ReplyDelete
  62. OMGOMGOMG.

This got me in tears (I'm in the office...glad no one noticed me). The most fucking beautiful thing I've ever heard in a very long time!! Love it love it love it!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hi back to you dj many posts back! :)

Hey Beau---Yes I did see that post you wrote a few topics ago. Having fun at uni??? Glad you're doing good with the excepting on the flu. Hope you get better soon.

I'm doing well, thanks for asking. Been busy with work as usual!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hi jenny! How are you???

I'm loving UTS too! I'm on my 25th listen!!! :)

    Happy Happy!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hey cure kitty! :D

I'm still quite emotional after the first listen. Trying to listen to it for a second time but afraid I might actually cry in the office! Love Robert's singing in it!

    Yay we're happy happy fans!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Man, that's what I needed to hear! I think its amazing how faithful the live version is to this.

Love it and agree that its the best in a long, long time.

    Welcome back boys.

Yes I'm crazy, crazy for UTS!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. It's magnificent! Although I think the Fuse version is of much higher audio quality than this. But what can you expect when you're pulling it off the radio? Thanks Ariel and Craig for posting the mp3! Can't wait for the real thing!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. And yes, I agree it's very faithful to the live versions I've heard. THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT!

    ReplyDelete
  71. cure_kitty: Uni is ok thank you :]. Haven't started the ultra serious stuff yet but i cant complain about that. Made a few new friends, one of which is a curefan :]. The only drawback is that my GF isn't here :[.
I dont know if you go on there anymore but I finally sent you a myspace request a few weeks ago :].
Work, busy? all ok apart from that?

    xxx

    ReplyDelete
  72. Hey beau,

Well it’s good that you have made some new friends esp one that’s a Cure Fan. Missing your GF well that sucks, it can be hard to be away from people you love.

I haven’t been on myspace for a while, I don’t go on there as much as I used to but next time I go on I’ll add you to my friends list. It will be a good way to keep in touch with you since I don’t go to the MFC as much as I used to. It can be hard to chat with someone on here without getting to way off topic or getting lost in-between all the posts.

Yeah busy at work, my company is getting ready for a big conference next week so things are crazy. But besides that, I’m doing well, no complaints on anything. Well that’s all for now, time for bed! Good Night!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Just wow. I'm so glad I went on the internet before going to sleep.
Now I don't even want to look for porn anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  74. LOL ^^^^^^

    "UTS, better than porn!"

    ReplyDelete
  75. it doesnt sound like a finished version..

    uhmm

maybe its just a problem from the transfer..

radio to mp3.. the best way to hurt a song

i cant wait to have the album in my hands

    ReplyDelete
  76. Please excuse my stupidity for the question I'm about to ask, but, is it because this song is recorded off a radio station that Robert's voice seems to be " buried " by the music? In other words, it sounds as if the music is louder than Robert's singing.

Even so, I'm loving the album version of UTS. It was my fave new song live and the album version sounds even better, if we could just hear Robert a little better.

Of course, you all realise this means that at long last the album must be finished and.........

    NO MORE DELAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    YAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Of course the sound is crappy. But you need to listen to the feeling. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  78. birdmad: regardless of mp3 versus studio quality, etc, i really hope this is the way the vocals are mixed on the album. it reminds me of plainsong- robert's vocals aren't sky high on a track like, say, out of this world. which isn't a bad track, i'm not saying that, i just like the feeling of the old sound, when robert's voice was something to be found in the mix, rather than jammed down your throat.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I don't mind subtle vocals hidden within the music, but, in this case, I actually have to strain to make out Robert's vocals.

    ReplyDelete
  80. DOH!!! That's for the file, DJ - but stupid "pay as you go" internet has no sound!

I think I am going to have to wait until Saturday until I will get to hear it.

Oh well, I guess that will teach me to take a vacation.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Jesus, It still gives me goose bumps!!!

    But, "it's not quite right."

Just little things like that reverby, haunting sound to Robert's voice. And the guitar isn't as strong. So, I do prefer the live version better.

STILL the most beautiful fucking song ever though!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. apart from everything else, right now my favorite cure b-side is 'sugar girl.'

instead i change into a rage...

    ReplyDelete
  83. the new song debuts are when im in school. WTF. WTF.
there better be mp3s when i get back! :)

listening party in the loving room! OH HELL YES!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Wow. I´m totally blown away. As I´m home sick today I guess I´ll be listening to it endlessly. wow.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Great to hear this, even with the quality not being great. So relieved it stayed true to live version. The 28th never seemed closer than it does now.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I couldn't do it, I downloaded it and started to play it but it sounded all murky and horrid....I am saving myself for the virgin experience even though the anticipation is murderous

    ReplyDelete
  87. I CAME. I can't believe I slept all day, I wasn't expecting anything this big to happen until the 11th!

The only problem I have is the quality which is clearly just becuz Radio to MP3 format. But this is fucking amazing beyond belief! 4:13 is so closer I can taste it!!! hm... cherry, who would've guessed?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Also, I think the track is 6:13, can't exactly tell tho, the guy starts talking at the very end. But that'd be a cute touch if it was 13 seconds

    ReplyDelete
  89. Quality of sound is not the greatest but this is still the best fucking song that I have heard from the Cure in years. Fucking absolutely the most brilliant piece of music. Words escape to describe.Un-fucking believable. Awesome opening, the most excellent guitar riff, gorgeous dreamy echoed voice, massive bass line, excellent drums and what a fucking climatic ending. I think I just blew the fucking speakers on my PC. Its 9.30am in Ireland. Id say my neighbours think ive gone fucking crazy. And all that on medium quality sound. I suppose you could sum it up with saying

    ITS NOT BAD!

    ReplyDelete
  90. so, from MFC cure forum, this is NOT the final mix version.
    It's a demo.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Whoa, I am SO conflicted...

I was really looking forward to sitting in a candle-lit room with my new CD on the stereo and just immersing myself...

Do I wait for the CD, or get the UTS?

    ??

    ReplyDelete
  92. I listened to the song a few times and it does sound faithful to the live versions, which is nice, but the recording is just too fuzzy for me to want to continue to listen, so I am going to abstain from ANY UTS listening until I get that hot little album in my hot little hands. That said, I think UTS may go down in history as the BEST SONG EVER... as only The Cure can manage. Hot DAMN I love them!!

BTW, the album cover has thoroughly grown on me! Don't know why I had mixed feelings about it at first.

    *waves wildly to Alastair*

    ReplyDelete
  93. BTW, I love The Cure and COF and all our Curey peeps. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  94. GOOD MORNING TO CURE NATION!! (This is the best reward for getting out of bed and going to work!) I'm hoping the echo-y thing isn't there as much when I finally hear the real thing, but I'm *loving it*! this Dream:13 thing is really real. eeeeee!!! gigglegigglegigglegiggle gleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    ReplyDelete
  95. Kate, as much as I love UTS, I'd say wait until you get the Album before listening to that mp3. It's too scratchy & noisy but if you feel the need, go for it! You won't be disappointed by the song! It's Amazing!!!

I'm going to stop listening to it myself until I have a real copy of it in my hand. I want to have that "I've just heard it for the 1st time feeling" when I get the CD!

And YAY to what cat just said! The Cure & All Cure Peeps are the Best peeps around! XOXO :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. CK: I am feeling excessively lovey lately... I just love that we can all come together, despite nation boundaries, despite lifestyle differences, despite ideological divergences, all because of our love for an amazing band. That's what it's all about, isn't it? Finding common ground. :-)

One of my favorite encounters on the 4Tour was with a dude I sorta knew from MFC; he and I had sparred a bit about politics, coming from vastly different perspectives. But when I snuck up to the front in Atlanta, he recognized me from my pic, and we had a very nice convo and I felt a Cure kinship with him.

I hope he is reading and he knows who he is.

    ReplyDelete
  97. AWWW... cute.
    We're all UNDERNEATH THE STARS!!

    ReplyDelete
  98. now that's good shit right there. Really not much of a difference between this and the live versions..... which is a good thing. things sure are getting exciting around here.

    ReplyDelete
  99. im off to school now... have fun listening to the new songs this afernnon!

    CANT WAIT!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Clockwise: Forgive me, but are you about to break in to a verse of "Kumbayah"?

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hey DJ, if this can be any kind of support, I'm at the job now, so if new songs happens, I'll have to endure the wait until tonight...

Oh it's torture!!! But I'm almost there!

    ReplyDelete
  102. marc: more like age of aquarius ;-)

sorry if i come across as excessively lovey dovey/dorkily hormonal/etc.

it's just how i am, and the cure brings it out in me in abundance

so take it or leave it sukaaaaz!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Really struggling to resist listening to this. I'm dying to hear it, but I really want to hear it in CD quality first. But it's right there for the downloading! I'm so conflicted!!

    Must resist.

Hopefully the wonderful new Cranes album will hold me over for a couple of weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Clockwise: Nah, you're a sweet heart! Don't change :)

What's happening this afternoon? Are there more album plays that I have not heard about?

    ReplyDelete
  105. this album is going to BLOW in a good way i'm guessing is what you meant by that

    ReplyDelete
  106. it's beautiful. I get very emotional listening to this.

    ReplyDelete
  107. You guessed correct CHP
    BBBOOOOOOOOMMMMM !!!!!!!!!!!!!
    KKAAAPPPPOOOOWWWWWWW !!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Oh cat I'm so glad you're feeling so lovely/dovey today! I'm feeling it too! It must be that Old Cure Magic Sparking Up again & making us feel so good! :)

And I agree with what you said. It's what I want to say but I just don't have the ability to express myself all too well. You always have the perfect thing to say. Thanks for always expressing your thoughts & feelings so well!

And it’s always great to meet and chat with Cure Fans from all over the world. The Cure unites us all no matter where you live, what you do or how you view life. It's always a pleasure to go places, meet people and find out they are Cure Fans. You just start talking to them about the band and you have an instant bond with that person. It's so cool!

    ReplyDelete
  109. thx marc. you all kindsa rool too!

    fuck me... uts is gorgeous...

i can't help listening again... the crashing guits like waves breaking... the devastating shattering cosmic force like stars plummeting to the earth... holy hell i LOVE this band...

everything the cure has ever sonically and emotionally stood for is embraced in this song...

this is the song i have been waiting for my whole life, and all my past lives... :-)

    ReplyDelete
  110. This album is going to light our collective faces on fire!!

    ReplyDelete
  111. CK, let's move to canada and get gay-married!

thx so much for your compliments... they mean a lot! i just happen to be excessively expressive at the moment owing to curey goodness...

uts makes me tingly.. i feel like there are stars and moons all over me...

    ReplyDelete
  112. This album is coming to explode in a living room near YOU!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Oh no, I couldn't resist. It's so gorgeous and touching. Everytime I listen to it, I have goose bumps.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  116. Whatever happens with this album, at least I know it's got a killer Opener and Closer. Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  117. pills, I am SO with you, trying to resist!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Konichiwa (and konbanwa in my country), Swifty! Wow, I didn't know there was anyone who can speak Japanese! Yes, UTS is awsome! Sugoi ne! \(^0^)/

    ReplyDelete
  119. OK cat let's set a date! UTS can be the wedding song! :P

I know I said before I was going to stop listening to that mp3 but I can't help myself.

UTS IS IMPOSSIBLE TO RESIST!!! :)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  121. KAWWAAAAIIIIII JUN-chan
Yes of course Konbanwa.I should have known, I'm close by in Australia. Unfortunately my Japanese is only very limited so I can't say too much more in Nihon-go. My wife is in Kyoto now on holiday....I wanted her to buy Dream 4:13 but she returns on 23rd too early. Totemo Sugoi Ne D(^;^)D

    ReplyDelete
  122. Maybe it would help me resist if I get out of this thread and stop reading about how wonderful it is?? Why do I torture myself?

    ReplyDelete
  123. pills - resistance is futile. Give in to the madness. join us... mmwahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  124. Thanks for saying kawaii to me, Swifty.(*^_^*) I hope your wife has a memorable time in Kyoto. I often visited Kyoto when I was living in Osaka a few years ago. Too bad, the Japanese edition will be out in November. I guess it's the latest and the most expensive of all.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Pills.........

    JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  126. Domo arigato Jun-chan
Yes, Kyoto is a wonderful place. I think Robert thought so too! My favourite spot is Arashiyama gentle rapids and Toroko?? (scenic train). Did you see Cure in Tokyo last year? I really wanted to go, but had no chance DA-ME!!
Of course I saw them in Brisbane about 2 weeks later. Seriously, that show will live with me forever.
It was so good. CURE ICHI-BAN NE

    ReplyDelete
  127. I thought it sounded pretty bad, to be honest. Almost sounds live, in fact. I actually hope it's NOT the real studio version!!

  128. Dave, It's supposed to sound bad, it's a mono mp3 of a radio station playing an album track. it's basically 2 or 3 times removed from the quality of sound that'll be on the actual album. I wouldn't lower your expectations of it just because of this recording.

  129. Dave get beyond the static & noise of this recording and listen to the words & music of the song. It's Awesome!

Soon we'll all be able to hear it perfectly!

  130. dave, i felt the same way about it at first - shitty recording. you almost have to get underneath (ha!) the sound quality and just listen for the song that is there in all its shimmering glory. that said, it sucks we can't listen to something less distorted.. but in time, my pretties, in time...

    uts da bomb, ya'll

  131. Don't get me wrong - i LOVE the song. It's the one that has given me renewed hope about the new album. It just doesn't sound any better than the FUSE recording I made.

  132. Waiting
    For the album to arrive

And I'm wondering where it is

    And I'm crying for UTS

    And the bomb ticks

Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick
