Just a reminder that Bernard Lenoir is supposed to play another new song from 4:13 Dream on his show today. You can listen to the live stream here (just click on Direct or the speaker icon). His show runs from 10-11pm in France.
Update: Bernard says no new Cure tonight. TMU is mad that UTS was posted online, so they will not let him play another new song.
Update 2: "Thought I'd explain a few things about tonight's debacle. From the start Lenoir and his guest (who specialises in old stuff, hence the Dylan and such ) joked about the fact that they couldn't play any more new songs - from the way they said it, it sounded like Robert was pissed off with them, but I think it's probably more universal. Nothing serious anyway. Lenoir's friendship with Rob goes back to the time when he wrote the instrumetnal for what was to become "just like heaven" for him.
The good news is that they said that the album, although no Disintegration, was not a disappointment. They meant to play "the hungry ghost", which was a favourite of theirs. They described "UTS" as sumptuous.
Also, the guest, Hugo, writes reviews in a arty paper (telerama) that sells very well here in France, and Lenoir asked him if they planned on interviewing robert. He replied he'd be delighted but Robert has told them he doesn't want to do any interviews right now.
Shame about tonight. They did say they'd cheat again and play some more before the 27th."
(Thanks Sylvain)

ReplyDeleteThanks craig! I'll have my computer tuned into this show at 4:00PM EST!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be happy to hear any of the songs that haven't been played before.
i'm not going anywhere near that goddam thing. my brower's still recovering.
ReplyDeleteThis is maybe the closest we'll get to a live concert thread in a while. All of us, listening to the same new Cure song at the same time...I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteWeeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteOk I've got the station on! WTF are they saying??? I speak no French! Just play the New Cure Song! Sorry I'm being silly! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm losing it! :p
Where's Eric when we need him ;)
ReplyDeleteAnother new song tonight ??????
ReplyDeleteCarole: That's what he said last night.
ReplyDeleteEric wouldn't be able to translate. I could, but I'm at the job and it's more simple if I just don't!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, just keep your ears open for 2 words: The Cure. That's your aural cue.
Man... this french is suspenseful for some reason, every minute I feel like he's just gonna say "THE CURE"
ReplyDeletemaybe im just a bit too excited X)
don't worry it's only starting now....
ReplyDeleteIs that Feargal Sharkey?
ReplyDeleteI m gonna translate if something interesting is said. at the moment, teenage kicks !!!

ReplyDeleteI'm shacking like a leaf! I feel like I'm going to miss it!
ReplyDelete30th birthday of not the cure as they are joking , but of the undertones.
ReplyDeleteI´m ready now....
ReplyDeleteListening the news i think...
Bring us some unheard CURE....
:)
*excitement sighs*
teenage kicks, cute little pop song. But enough, MOAR CURE NAO PLZ!
ReplyDeletethey already said twice "cure" in a laugh ;-)
ReplyDeletethey know everybody's waiting !
Shut-up and just play the song!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! :p
Feargal Sharkey was the singer for The Undertones
ReplyDeleteYeah, they know we're all here waiting. Probably make us wait until the end of the show. : )
ReplyDelete2 more "classic" songs of the undertones are coming now
ReplyDeletethey'll prolly play Cure at the end I'm guessing. Or maybe it'll be next song (after this one) cuz UTS was played only 13 minutes in (i think?)
ReplyDeleteOh craig I hope they don't wait till the end. I can't take the suspense anymore!
ReplyDeletei'm in... an can translate too.

I'm... about... to cry
because underneath the stars was so quickly on the web - the mighty U was angry and forbid them to play a new song tonight
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Belle & Sebastian song!!! Woohoo!!!
ReplyDeleteI GUARANTEE THAT !!!
ReplyDeleteThere will not be The Cure tonight
ReplyDeleteWhat? No Cure today?
ReplyDeletesaid they wanted to play the hungry ghost... but that they won't cause we are all obsessed dorks.
ReplyDeleteNo Cure For You!!
ReplyDeletebut they said they won't probably wait the 27th before they play another one... the hungry ghost seems to be THE song in the album and UTS as well
ReplyDeleteThink he didn't get clearance from TMU? They removed the clip that was on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteLOL Cure fans shooting themselves in the feet??
ReplyDeleteHow's that possible?
:*(
ReplyDeleteNo cure......... I'm a sad panda. Well being optimistic; 2 more days until we get the entire album LIVE!
Isn't this what they want? Hype? Whipping us fans into a frenzy? Well, that's what they've got sister!!
ReplyDeleteGAH!!! Went on youtube to see if it was really gone, and it is... /sigh
ReplyDeleteIf anything this only creates massive hype, the internet is the best place to start hype nowadays.
Grats TMU : /
*starts rioting*
ReplyDeleteWhat not new Cure? Is it true they are not going to play anything new? I wanna cry! :(
ReplyDeleteHe said that fans tonight will be punished no new song because there was dissemination of UTS on the Net
ReplyDeleteBRB, buying pitchforks and pre-flaming sticks and imma start a riot. Any one in? There will be cake :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to keep listening, anyway. Just in case they sneak it in.
ReplyDeleteRoll on Saturday in Rome, then prayers will be for rain... and new hail
ReplyDeleteThey are trying to make us lower our guard!!
ReplyDeleteKEEP LISTENING
...craig said so.
I'll be going back home now...
TMU can kiss my rosy cheeks.
ReplyDeleteI'm in denial - I think he's screwing with us. This is the country that thinks Jerry Lewis is hysterically funny, after all. I'll put up with a sick sense of humor if we get a song in the end!
ReplyDeleteans they don't want to upset Bob
ReplyDeleteonnihopedream I'll join you at the riot party esp if there will be cake!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis radio station is better than anything in the States, not even close.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll listen to this every day and learn some French in the process.
Gah, I'll keep listening, there is still a little bit of hope right?
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm not saying they'll play it, but I'm sticking around, just in case.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep listening too craig but I don't know how much Bob Dillon I can take!
ReplyDeleteSorry, TMU said we can't riot, nor eat cake this week. : /
ReplyDeleteCURE friends @ France:
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to call the radiostation and tell them that half of the world are waiting for listening a new song and this half is now crying becauses they don´t want to give us some gift ?
*despair sighs*
Whaat? Obsessed dork? Sitting listening to two blokes talking in a language I don't understand in the lame hope that they're yanking our chain? Not me :0)
ReplyDeleteNot that obsessed, though; two successive Bob Dylan tracks is more than I can take! "Click"
"This is the country that thinks Jerry Lewis is hysterically funny, after all."
ReplyDeletewhat do you want ? start another war ??? ;-)
to mad bob : radio france knows that half of the world is listening , don't worry we are on their website sending spams "just play cure - fuck TMU"
ReplyDeleteAnd finally Lenoir he said he had very good songs on this album
ReplyDeleteI do not know but he had no doubt that it would be hijacked UTS non ?????
mad bob - lol! i was thinking exactly that
ReplyDeletefrancois - aw, c'mon. let me have a little fun. I'm just jealous cuz you at least have a radio station that will play the Cure! : )
he just said that he got a lot of mails talking about dylan but far more talking about bob smith
ReplyDeleteGo figure. :)

ReplyDeleteall hell is breaking loose! it must be madness at every cure site :O ruuun!! is gozillaa!!! *japanese accent*
ReplyDeleteThanks Francoise...
ReplyDeleteI hope your messages will change they mind....
:)
* hoping sighs *
The 2 French hosts are CURE fans ?
Maybe they will crack and just play it? ;)
ReplyDeleteKEEP UP THE CURE SPAM LETTERZ!!!!
Now they are playing Willie Nelson. Well I do like Willie but looks like our chances of getting anything new today are slim. I don't think they will sneak it in!
ReplyDeletecurevolution!!! :)
ReplyDeletethe 2 french hosts are very long time cure fans - sort of french John Peel , if you see
ReplyDeleteFrancois c'est a quel endroit qu'on peut s'exprimer sur la chaine je veux participer
ReplyDeleteWe want The Cure! We want The Cure! We want The Cure! We want The Cure!
ReplyDeleteAt least play It's Over. We've all heard that already, so what's the harm?
ReplyDeletelol : dylan + nelson = the supreme goat
ReplyDeleteclicke sur contact carole et tu peux envoyer un mail en direct
ReplyDeleteBaby Rag OR Sleep when im dead, either would be a very nice treat. Preferably BRDG tho
ReplyDeletefrench fans should break into the radio station, beat up the people and the host, take over the controls and play some new CURE!!!
ReplyDeletethey talked about bob smith once more and said that it was a big pain in the ass for them to not be allowed to play a new song tonight
ReplyDeleteor just peacefully stand outside with banners and signs that read "WE WANT THE CURE"
ReplyDeleteNah, just beat up TMU, these guys did give us UTS afterall, they're cool in my book
ReplyDeleteLOL Carlos...
ReplyDeleteI´m just picture that scene.....
Tons of mad CURE fans outside the station, with a lot of CURE signs and screaming like freaks...
I want to be there ¡¡¡
LOL
send and email to them pretending to be TMU saying that they are allowed to play them again!!
ReplyDeleteyeah syd barrett after all , perhaps a little nick drake to finish ?

ReplyDeletesend and email to them pretending to be TMU saying that they are allowed to play them again!!
Just don't sign the letters as "TMU" ;p
yeah it'd be fun to be there if it were actually happening
ReplyDeleteWell at least we know the DJ's want to play the song as much as we want to hear.
ReplyDeleteDown with TMU!
You know Bernard really wants to play something. Do it Bernard, we've all got your back.
ReplyDeleteTMU is going to get TNT in they ASS
ReplyDeleteGO FOR IT AND IF YOU GET IN TROUBLE BLAME IT ON THE FANS! WE CAN TAKE THE HEAT THE TMU WILL GIVE OUT!
ReplyDeleteThose who are sending letters, throw in the possibility of "It's Over" there is a chance, if these guys are big Cure fans they could do it. And of course we got their backs 100%
ReplyDeleteOnly 15 mins of the show ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
ReplyDeleteWE NEED A REAL MIRACLE ¡¡¡¡
grrrrrr.
:(
this voice is Marianne Faithfull's. gosh.
ReplyDeletei'll send an email!! i think we all should, that would put pressure, maybe they will understand the need for the songs because we are all fellow fans.. connected by our love to the band
ReplyDeleteFor crying out loud - like TMU's going to spend any money or effort on promotion. Pu-lease. Those bastards really have it in for The Cure.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the email address?
ReplyDeleteim searching for it, but im really slow in finding things
ReplyDeleteIs that Suede?
ReplyDeleteplus i dont know french:)
ReplyDeletei'm afraid it's a bit late as the last songs are playing now but on the main page click on direct then "contact"
ReplyDelete*SIIIIIIIGH*
ReplyDeleteWell... I guess it's over : / no pun intended (maybe only slightly intended)
Yeah, I was wondering about that. I'm pretty sure Robert is upset, too. That was the whole cache of premiering the songs live. If the whole album is streamed and then downloaded, it could hurt record sales among medium fans. I know people who might love a certain band -- often bands that don't sell all that well -- but they say, "Ah, I have the mp3 already, why buy the album?" Dickish, I know, but it happens.
ReplyDeleteOf course Chain of Flowers is different and everyone here will buy the album, so I meant no offense to the file sharing going on here, but if the stuff were posted around the net, it could pose a problem.
Still haven't listened, though I'm extremely tempted.
brett anderson & suede, yes
ReplyDeletei see know.. but still im a bit lost haha but anyway theres no point if the show is already ending, and yeah it was Suede
ReplyDeletethey just said they are selling their cds for 1000 euros.
ReplyDeleteomg, they said "The Cure" at the end and my stomach just fell, then this shit plays... Gaaaaaawd
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletethey just said something about the cure and played a song but it is not the cure
ReplyDeleteHa! Someone probably would pay that.
ReplyDeleteJust 6 more minutes to go & then I'm out of here! I'm disappointed that nothing new was played but I had fun in here this last hour! Felt like old times with all the tour blogs!!!
ReplyDeleteOh do I miss those days!!!
Ha Ha Ha Someone suggested euros for the 1000 album THE CURE is a true Fan !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteit's over !!!
ReplyDeleteThis commercial, is it 100% officially over? No need to stay tuned at all?
ReplyDeleteaaw i was hoping they would play it :(
ReplyDeleteAnd It's Over!
ReplyDeleteThe show...not the song. : P
now the news are on haha
ReplyDeleteApparently LENOIR meadows is a welcome Robert for an interview But Robert says he wants nothing to do for the moment That is the end of the emission
ReplyDeleteSo now I'll be listening to his show, each and every day. Smart move, Bernard. : )
ReplyDeleteWell It's Over and it's time to go home! Se ya later peeps!
ReplyDeleteanyway they said earlier that they would probably not wait until the 27 TH of october to play another song. (if they didn't sell the CD though))))
ReplyDeleteSo Bernard asked RS for an interview and he said he didn't want to do any? That explains a few things.
ReplyDeleteWe won't have to wait too long for the next song, since we get the whole thing on the 11th anyway. I'd guess it'd be under a week, maybe just a few days
ReplyDeleteAnd bon soir to all of you. It's quittin' time. It's been fun with all you Cure peeps today.
ReplyDeleteYknow, that's one good thing with Baby Rag's name. Easy puns :)
ReplyDeleteoh i'm so happy that this song wasn't the Cure.. you'll never know ;)) in these days...
ReplyDeleteyes, the other host is a french journalist for Telerama (culture newspaper), big fan of the Cure, he said he wanted to interview recently RS but RS doesn't want at the moment.
ReplyDeletei am aching for interviews actually, i love them and this are going to be really interesting to bad he doesnt want at the moment
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteDon´t forget that RSx has stated a lot of times that doing interviews, press conferences and such things like that is the most awful part of being in The CURE.
ReplyDeleteSo, maybe he is now getting ready up his mind for the incoming bunch of duties on this matter.
But of course, any CURE interview is always welcome, we know certain details of CURE carrer that has been exposed on interviews.
:)
Hey Craig
ReplyDeleteMonday to Thursday only Friday Saturday Sunday rest .......
first off, that Underneath the Stars mp3 that was posted yesterday sucked! quality wise. so Universal has nothing to worry about, it's a recording of a radio broadcast, not the type of quality i want, so there's no way that to me it'd affect the sales of the album.
ReplyDeleteCarole: Oh, guess we wait for Rome. : )
ReplyDeletebon je suis de retour !!
ReplyDeletecarole quel poste que sais france inter sur le am ou fm?
ReplyDeletecarole quel poste que sais france inter sur le am ou fm?
ReplyDeletegood thing the album is no disintegration... now i am REALLY looking forward to it. :-P
ReplyDeleteHey, clockwise cat, do you use AIM? My name on there is the same as here. Could you send me a message if you are on that?
ReplyDeleteI would have messaged you through blogspot but I didn't seen how to do so...
By the way, "no Disintegration" is encouraging to me. The last two album were both, at one time or another, declared sequels to Disintegration. Well, in some sense that is true of Bloodflowers. But The Cure? Very little like Disintegration, that record.
ReplyDeleteIf they'd said it was "the best album since Disintegration," I would not trust that so much. That is what everyone wants to say. The Cure will never make another Disintegration. But they were an awesome band before Disintegration, so it shouldn't be the biggest problem in the world!
"Not a disappointment" ... as assessment I'm much more inclined to believe!
I like the singles, so I'm expecting some more great tracks! Looks good up ahead.
Also, as an aside... It seems like Robert held back some pretty important tracks. Doesn't that make it likely that a "dark album" will really happen?
And then the band will be free from TMU!
