  1. Tonight's show is at the COX Arena. Paul is doing the live reports. Cat is here too. Gods help us. : )

    ReplyDelete
  2. here's hoping paul has a camera with a wide lens!

    ReplyDelete
  3. i would kill to see Bare live. it pretty much describes, in detail, the relationship between an ex boyfriend and i.

But yeah. Want is on the master setlist. So that's my guess for opener!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I would love for them to play Want, it's an underrated yet kick-ass Cure classic!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Want, Like Cockatoos, Bare... saw them all :) Tampa '96.

Want is a cool opener (after Plainsong)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Want and Bare would be unbelievable. Literally, I'm afraid, in Bare's case.

    But if it happens:

    Tapers,
    you know what to do.

    ReplyDelete
  7. gotta be Want tonight. should be interesting though to see what the set closer will be. But I'm sure I'll have to find out tomorrow, no way I'll make it to 1:00 am.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm voting for some new material tonight....the elusive Hungry Ghost perhaps?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Is anyone going to Phoenix tomorrow night? I am so excited I think I peed a little bit.
    Yeah, I said that.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Everyone needs to activate their Blogger Profile and put some info in it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. want & bare would be brilliant. and to think there are people who hate wms...pfft.

    ReplyDelete
  12. oh! soo... i just thought about it and since the set closer is always from the album, and Bare isn't on the master setlist, maybe, just maybe, they would use Club America as the closer. Because it is on the master and all. Just a thought...

  14. morris, do i have enough info for you? what about you, pal? all we got is a location here.

believer-ko, please do not wish that on us. christ...

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sofia, brilliant job!

i was just working on mine :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think they walk out on stage to "Relax" from The Glove, Robert walks up to the mic, Simon comes over and promptly pulls off a wig from Roberts head, revealing a newly shorn buzz cut (albeit with a slight bald spot on the top this time around) and they open with "Shake Dog Shake" a la "In Orange" style!

    ReplyDelete
  17. After the great setlist at the Shrine, i hope Robert goes on changing songs and plays new stuff, but maybe it was Simon who picked all songs? So it stays wishfull mthinking. We´ll get an ordenary setlist, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  18. After the great setlist at the Shrine, i hope Robert goes on changing songs and plays new stuff, but maybe it was Simon who picked all songs? So it stays wishfull mthinking. We´ll get an ordenary setlist, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  19. would that mean there'd have to be a stupid mosh pit too?

...i never understood skanking to the Cure.

    ReplyDelete
  20. i'm down there in the pit with the church-burners shoving you in the face during 'how beautiful you are'!

    ReplyDelete
  21. one song from that master setlist...album opening track...not played in ages...The Holy Hour! I would literally faint if they opened with it. I kinda do expect it to make an appearance tonight, though opening song is probably stretching it just a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Morris - yes! Mosh pit and all - what the hell, why not?

    ReplyDelete
  23. @ sofia:

    aww. : )

i think club america is decent. but tbh- the real reason i'd love to see it is the guitar. imagine Porl shredding that out!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sofia- I'm totally with you in the pit! Especially when they play their old stuff from 17secs and TAB, how can you NOT go nuts? I think that's how I hurt my shoulder. Starting with Jumping, ending with Killin an Arab...

On another note, I was watching Sinking, The Cure in Orange vers. and goddamn if Simons bass kicks ass in that song!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm supposed to be there with plainsong but here I am sitting in front of my computer posting my regret for going. At least I changed my plans at the last minute and went to the Shrine.

If they open with Want, I will be happy for everyone there but even more upset I didn't go.

Here starts the wishing and hoping, making deals with the devil for another tour. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Terminal, I always thought it'd be funny if they did an encore consisting SOLEY of their weird shit, like Do The Hansa, Mr. Pink Eyes, A man inside my mouth, etc. That would rule!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would LOVE a whole set consisting just of B-sides and obscurities. Wishful thinking indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would always try to catch every show of the cure when it is in range and affordable.

    ReplyDelete
  29. OK, I made up my mind: Opening with Plainsong, closing with Disintegration, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  30. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  31. NOT Plainsong again, pleeeease. I mean, as an opener for godsakes.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I do like the song, but they need to mix things up a little bit.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Violet -- I'm dealing with the devil as we speak. I've been formulated bizarre plots to follow the Cure around to at least half a dozen shows when they next tour. Next year, maybe? If this Christmas record thing actually happens, you never know.... The two shows this year were not enough. And could never have been.

I officially have a shoebox under my bed with the words: "CURE FUND" written across the top. Now I just have to pick up some more hours at work and start filling up the box.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Btw in europe it was 21 times(?) opener.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Has there been any valid chatter about additional touring after the album comes out? I suppose we're spoiled here in the USA. Those poor bastards in South America have been waiting a long time - 1996 I think....

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm only passing by, I'm way too tired to stay up tonight, Cure and all have to forgive me, I'm so out of shape it's out of this world. <_<
Seriously. And sorry for whoever care about the blogger profile thing, I'll get around to fiddle with it one day. I'm such a lazy ass. I'll do it at my job one day when the going's smooth.

    ReplyDelete
  37. helsa, oh hell yes. a join the dots tour!

    ReplyDelete
  38. mike- two cities in 96 is not really touring.
And yes your so spoiled.;) Imo, you got the far better setlists, espicially in Ca.

    ReplyDelete
  39. hey guys i have a idea, why not we write to the cure the best idea to celebrate 30th aniversary, in this way:
i remember that the london suede in 2003 playded the whole set album by album even besides and rarities...so
the cure could play every song album by album even besides and rarities so in this way they pleased everybody every fan...
    think about it....
it is a bad idea isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sofia:

The lack of a Join the Dots tour ought to go down in history as one of THE great missteps in The Cure's history.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Who wouldn't crap their pants if this was tonight's setlist:

subway song, grinding halt, play for today, m, primary, the funeral party, the figurehead, the hanging garden, let's go to bed, the walk, dressing up, piggy in the mirror, push, inbetween days, catch, just like heaven, lullaby, prayers for rain, high, from the edge of the deep green sea, treasure, bare,

E1: 10.15 saturday night, killing an arab

That was the setlist in order from the 11/6/96 Paris show...sorry Cat, no "Club America" that night though....

If they could only be that spontaneous these days!

    ReplyDelete
  42. mike wants to shock all "casual" fans..., but good for me

    ReplyDelete
  43. i fell asleep to birdmad girl last night. someone make that happen for me? nyc? RCMH? please? sigh...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yup I'll be at the Phoenix show, after all it's where I reside! I'll be sending in the play by play as well... The Dodge theatre is a inside joint so I'm probably SOL for UTS... :-(

    ReplyDelete
  45. I like the cover versions on JTD

    ReplyDelete
  46. Probably true about UTS, Jerry, but Faith is really much more of an indoors song....

    ReplyDelete
  47. Faith sounds good everywhere!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'd certainly take Faith any day! Actually the last Phoenix show in 2004 they ended with the most amazing version of Forever, I curse the fact that no one taped it or is at least fessing up to it. I'm pissed at myself for not doing it!!!

A new song not played thus far would be nice for us desert dwellers too!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Jerry: I'm sure I've seen a version of Phoenix 2004 around somewhere. Let me look around and I'll get back to you.

    ReplyDelete
  50. anyone remember listening to the first live web-cast of a Cure show? i think it was from New York? 56k modem. IRC chat room. '96??

    ReplyDelete
  51. anybody got wish tour, phoenix?! :@

    ReplyDelete
  52. Tyler you would be the absolute man!!! That whole show was really incredible, the energy was off the charts. The version of Disintegration was also incredible!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I went to that Wish show in Phoenix! My first Cure show after I moved from NYC.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Going to have to check on Robert's voice tonight. The troubles MIGHT not be over.

    ReplyDelete
  55. jerry, i live in nyc now but i lived in phoenix during that show! :D

    so you got it? *nudge*
my emails up there. feel free, kind people.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Isn't that an odd juxtaposition Sofia? I don't have the show, sorry! I should go and try to get all the Cure shows I've been too, would be interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Craig: sick again / still??

i imagine it's really tough to get well on the road.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Craig, bad news from the soundcheck?

    ReplyDelete
  59. MAYBE still suffering, hopefully it's just preventive.

    ReplyDelete
  60. jerry, it really is. we're ships passing in the night. a few years later i moved here.

ps: i see where you're living. i went to xavier and lived off 125th and shea.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Just checking in to say I'm here for the great setlist watch. I was wondering if Robert was ok when my friend told me that he didn't show for the afterparty after the Hollywood Bowl show. I was thinking that he might be still trying to take care of his throat.

    ReplyDelete
  62. drink that throat coat tea, robert!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Party ain't started or what? I guess it's Robert's voice that gets y'all worried? ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Shawn - no, not from soundcheck. Hate to be all vague, but it was something personal. Just saying let's hope the voice is ok tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  65. carig- nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I thought Robert was all better?? :(

    ReplyDelete
  66. More like planes passing in the sky Sofia! ;-) Yeah you lived pretty near me, I'm right by the PV Mall. Small world anyone? Well I promise to forward you the Wish show from Phoenix if I get my mitts on it. I know a guy...

Did I mention I grew up in Brooklyn?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Cat - hopefully nothing. just keep those fingers crossed.

    ReplyDelete
  68. oh, okay, sorry for shouting.

i am crossing toes fingers and hairs that he's okay!

    ReplyDelete
  69. The suspense on the opener is killing me

    Want/Forever would be awesome
Want /Burn would rock the house down!!
    (I could do without Bare)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Paul is reporting from the 3rd row on Porl's side tonight. No PHT reports tonight Cat.

    ReplyDelete
  71. they haven't played the big hand for a while. i thought this lineup bringing back was excellent, and i know it's on the master list, so here's hoping!

    ReplyDelete
  72. My friend Miss Shapes is at the show tonight, for her sake I hope they open with Open, as it's her favorite song. I'll ask her to give an update on his voice.

    ReplyDelete
  73. heys! i hope im not late to the party. poor robert =/

    ReplyDelete
  74. What is this master list??

    ReplyDelete
  75. Oh man, I hope Robert's voice is alright! Please take care of yourself, Robert.

And more than 80 comments before the show starts. This place is like a night market!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Good nite everyone.

    How are you ?

Glad to join, just in time.

I´m ready, little sad, my soccer team lose the second game and i´t´s not going to the final.

Overall score 1-1 but lose due to away goal.
The referee did an awful job.

Going back to Cure, please don´t make get more nervous, is RS voice fine ? is he ok?

Why the warning on the front page?

Anyone know that maybe could be some throt issues?

I hope he´wll be in top form, he´ll have 2 shows in a row, so if he´s still having problem, being on tour, his voice might suffer a permanent damage.

So, RSX, take care of your amazing voice, there´s no reason to push it further.

    :(

    ReplyDelete
  77. Craig- dammit!! Paul is totally hot for Porl now isn't he...
Cat- just send some invisible love waves to Robert... I'm sure he'll feel it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. jerry, i used to live in bushwick and had a boyfriend who lived across the street from BAM :|

    ReplyDelete
  79. Plainsong. They might put Want somewhere else in the setlist?

    Just hoping. :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. as if plainsong is terrible?! god i just want my show to get here!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hope his voice holds up, an excuse to faith encore?

p.s Sorry to be rude but clockwise cat are you/were you Fleurdumal from MFC?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Plainsong then Club America? That would be funny.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Boy, they started right on time tonight. A good sign.

    ReplyDelete
  84. i love Plainsong. The chimes, the chimes...

    ReplyDelete
  85. @erik-craig posted few days ago a picture of a list with 83? songs on it, supposed to be played during the tour

    ReplyDelete
  86. Plainsong belongs to my top 3 Cure song list and it could never be wrong. I believe I'll be in tears if I were there.

    ReplyDelete
  87. any news on the man's voice yet?

    ReplyDelete
  88. prayers next then i guess :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. eric, type "master list" into the search bar at the top of the blog. You'll find it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. I guess if RS sing at top notch Prayers for Rain would mean he´s ok.

I think when he was sick on this tour, PFR was put outside of the main set.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Don't get me wrong, I love Plainsong. Was just hoping they would continue the streak of a different opener each night in Cali.

Asking Paul about his voice now.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Just heard from Steph. Voice sounds fantastic. Must have worked out well.

Paul says very long RAAAAAIIIINNN tonight.

    RS is fine. Whew!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Hi all! Sorry I'm late.

Please say Robert's voice is OK.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I know, Craig! I was also hoping that they’d open with a different song after the magnificent setlist at the Shrine. Seriously, it can't be the only show that opens with OOTW, can it? Do we only get the song on Simon's birthday? :/

    ReplyDelete
  95. "Paul says very long RAAAAAIIIINNN tonight."

    ;) haha

    ReplyDelete
  96. Whew, that's a relief about Bob.
    Elise- everyone's favorite Aussie.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I´m agree Craig, but nevertheless PS is a bad choice for opening a show.

Maybe because there´s no Bare on the master list, they don´t feel right to play as opener, but maybe during the main set.

    ReplyDelete
  98. So glad to hear that Robert's voice is fine! That's a huge relief.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Helsabot - Am I the only Aussie you know?

    Fantac - Hey there, Tigger

    ReplyDelete
  100. Great to hear RS is just as good.

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hi Madbob!

Hey, Jenny - thanks for the email!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Jenny, I thought they'd only mix it up for Simons b'day. I was hoping I was wrong. This setlist is looking very familiar. :X

    ReplyDelete
  103. That Raiiiiiiiin was excellent in wembley. One of the best moments at cure concerts, imo

    ReplyDelete
  104. Alright kiddos, I have to get some sleep tonight. I've been staying up late too many nights. I hope to see some new songs in the set list when I wake up.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Hi Bernie.

Good news about Robert's voice, but I'm NOT HAPPY that Paul is on the wrong side of the stage :-(

    ReplyDelete
  106. Hey Elise! There was a bit of drama, but it seems to have been a false alarm.

    ReplyDelete
  107. 'night Joe, talk to you tomorrow. : )

    ReplyDelete
  108. Is here with us all the COF Kittens ?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Excellent to hear that his voice is fine!

I'm off to put the kiddies to bed :) yes, again!

    Be back soon.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Craig - PHEW!!!!! I'm glad I missed the stress of the false alarm!

    ReplyDelete
  111. The Walk, oh boy.
Elise- I know no other Aussie's.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Mad Bob - no, V isn't with us tonight. She's at the REM/Modest Mouse show at Red Rocks. : (

    ReplyDelete
  113. Elise, thank YOU! And I got your reply this morning. :)

Helsabot, I guess you're right...will they consider Want? We only have 11 shows left (if I remember correctly). If Robert still has any more surprises he'd better bring them on soon!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Madbob - v is at a show tonight - I don't know if Cat is in da house

    ReplyDelete
  115. ugh, who sleeps when its 5am here?

    ReplyDelete
  116. Will I get to use red tonight? : (

    ReplyDelete
  117. Thanks for showing me to the master list!

some songs are curt from the picture - to keep us guessing??

Same deep would be realy excellent to hear again - esp without keys this time

    ReplyDelete
  118. Helsabot - then I feel honoured to be your favourite Aussie!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Ok, hoping V is having good time..

    Thanxs

    ReplyDelete
  120. Erik - nothing is cut, just scroll over.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I would love for Craig to have to use the red pen for Want. I WANT WANT!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  122. beau: yes, that's me. :-) how are you?

    plainsong opener....booooooooring.

don't get me wrong - i like ps. but without the keys it just doesn't work as well - or at least that's my sense. maybe if i see/hear it in the flesh i'll change my mind.

also, i would prefer want or lost as an opener.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Yeah Erick, i´m beggint that Cure dust off TSDWAY

The pictures isn´t cut, is larger than the screen size, save it in your PC, that way it´s easier to see.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I think uyou might use red tonight craig. I can see the possibility of a new song or rarely played song.

    ReplyDelete
  125. elise - Just like that... Did you break the news to your hubbie that WOW nevers ends?

    ReplyDelete
  126. also hoping for HOLY HOUR

    and B43

but that isn't on the master list. HH is though.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I want Twilight Garden... and maybe 2late. Play maybe? That Bob just looooves doing the same thing over and over and over....

    ReplyDelete
  128. Thanks Craig!

I'm waiting to see some red before going to sleep!

    ReplyDelete
  129. meh..i gotta get to sleep in 15 minutes. i'll see you folks next time!

    thanks, craig!

    xo

    ReplyDelete
  130. Beau - I like that kind of thinking. : )

    ReplyDelete
  131. "San Diego is so dreary" - is that because of the crowd?

    ReplyDelete
  132. How about BREATHE? Or Heroin Face, at least???

    ReplyDelete
  133. It'd be nice to get A boy I never knew - has this been done yet, this side of the Atlantic yet?

    ReplyDelete
  134. bye Sofi! fall asleep to TG. Or Yesterdays Gone, that ones good too.

    ReplyDelete
  135. G'night Sofia.

Fantac - Oh he knows it doesn't end!!!! He has got his second 'character' (or what ever you call it) to the top level. I will never understand ;P

    ReplyDelete
  136. Oh they'd better play something new tonight. They're going back to the old setlist...

    ReplyDelete
  137. Yeah, WTF is up with them not playing ABINK? I finally fell in love with that song and then they drop it! Booooooo.

    ReplyDelete
  138. "the crowd are impossible things"
    wat??

    ReplyDelete
  139. 'night sofia. don't punch anybody. : )

    ReplyDelete
  140. I believe they stopped playing ABINK after the Europe tour?

    ReplyDelete
  141. That crowd don't deserve to be there if they are dreary!

Think positive thoughts for Impossible Things people - I have my tickets for the $50million lottery draw on Thursday night - and if I win I am buying us all a night with the Cure - COF fans only!

    ReplyDelete
  142. Only Mexico got A Boy I Never Knew last october, first time played.

I don´t get why it isn´t being on the songs current rotation

    ReplyDelete
  143. Does that mean they aren't lively?

    ReplyDelete
  144. maybe they're not into the show? I used to live in San Diego and know for a fact people can be kind of passive and lame-o at shows there.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Clockwise Cat: Ahhhh good :). I thought it was you :). I'm ok thanks, tired really. How are you doing?

I can't remember which shows you're going too, did you enjoy if youve seen them already?

    ReplyDelete
  146. No Boy I Never Knew since Europe, correct.

Paul is saying the crowd is bad tonight. But Paul has a unique style of reporting. : )

    ReplyDelete
  147. ABINK and Underneath the Stars: best new songs!!

    ReplyDelete
  148. poo-poo on them though!! i'll show the love at the FL and GA shows!!!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Elise- *sends good thoughts*
    That would be freakin awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  150. aletter-- good luck with that then!!

too bad about the crowd. Not expecting a great setlist tonight then.

    ReplyDelete
  151. ABINK out- Sleep when I´m dead and Perfect Boy in

    ReplyDelete
  152. And yes, I'm deploring the lack of ABINK! (those acronyms are silly) Perhaps RS feels like American crowds would not be as receptive as European ones? And perhaps he would be right, considering the inanity during Underneath the Stars...

    ReplyDelete
  153. Maybe the crowds not responding cause they know they're getting the SAME suckass setlist?

    ReplyDelete
  154. I have my fingers crossed Elise, we truly are a crowd that deserves a Cure show.exclusive Cof members.

    Sorry lamers .....

    ;)

    ReplyDelete
  155. I feel spoiled though
I would have died to hear To wish - back in 92

Now I get it and still want more

    ReplyDelete
  156. We should all sing or hum the next song together! That way, there'll be more upside and excitement on COF then there seems to be in SanDiego!!!

    ReplyDelete
  157. elise: That would rule chica! Do it! :-D

beau: I am very well, thanks! Dxcited to be going to FOUR Cure shows. It went up from 2 rather recently. Just added Ft. Laud yesterday. ROCK! Also seeing Tom Waits this summer. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  158. helsa: it is indeed a humdrum setlist. but i doubt that is why the crowd is lame-o. or, it could be the reason. who knows?

    ReplyDelete
  159. Yeah Craig, i knew ABINK was played on Eurpoe this year, but erick complained why they don´t play it on this side of the Atlantic, so, i pointed Mexico did have it.

    ReplyDelete
  160. 4 shows, Cat? Can we look forwrd to PHS hi-res photos from you? :)

    ReplyDelete
  161. Cat - 4 shows! I am soooo envious - WCIBY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  162. I love adding shows at the last minute. I was lucky enough to grab two amazing floors seats for GA today for face value. that makes me and my light wallet very happy!

    ReplyDelete
  163. I am thinking ABINK is gone not because it wouldn't be well received but because Bobby is putting it on that mythical Xmas album.

In other words, we'll never hear it.

    ReplyDelete
  164. i was at the Radiohead concert a few weeks a go, and it seemed everyone was more interested in their cell phones than the concert... It's as if they feel they're not really experiencing something unless they're tapping away on their celly.
