I bought it at Amoeba in LA on Sunday 5/18 and it was the last one until their next shipment - so they were carrying it.

ReplyDeletei canceled my ideal copy presale order a couple weeks ago after hearing about the delays. the thought of having paid $26 for 2 7"s was giving me a case of jimmy legs at night. i wouldn't have minded so much of they were going to ship it out on or around the 13th. i'd rather just eventually grab it when i'm out and about.

ReplyDeleteFYI - idealcopy.com started shipping the import CD of The Only One on the 13th. We started shipping the 7" single on May 15th. And we will be shipping the US CD on the 22nd. The mighty Universal is slacking with getting the product out there on time and in enough quantities (but they are starting to catch up this week). Please direct all unhappy thoughts towards them. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd anyone who wants two 7" singles of The Only One - they can be had from us, (right now!), for $22.97 out that door! Shipping costs went down when the collectors box was canceled. Everyone who pre-ordered from us wound up paying the lower shipping prices.
warning in advance for Freak Show and future singles. Record companies are geared for releasing singles on Monday/Tuesday worldwide. June 13 is a Friday so expect that to actually arrive June 16/17.

ReplyDeleteIdeal Copy remain honest and up front about everything as always, which is a testament to their professionalism, god knows I wouldnt have known about heaps of new releases coming out if were not for their upcoming section, record shops in NZ can be so dismal, if its not TOP 40, its nothing worth caring about!

We shouldn't have to prove ourselves to Robert; that's the cult of celebrity talking. People shouldn't be rude, and being patient is fine, but let's not get carried away. It's actually an argument to be quieter so we can all hear Robert.

ram, not liking certain songs or albums by the cure doesn't make you less of a fan or lessen your "passion" for them. Not caring enough to even dislike a song is worse.

ReplyDeleteI ordered the US single from The Ideal Copy, but I sent an e-mail to ask a question shortly after the order, and have yet to receive a response. That was a couple of days ago. I'm not complaining, as I've gotten good service from them in the past, but since they read the CoF blog, I figured that might help things along. :)

ReplyDeleteHi! Just fyi, the CD single at amoeba in Los Angeles was the import (made in england) and priced at $5.99 (all sold out by sunday May 18). They now have 30 more copies on order (and I'm assuming this will be the domestic version) and they have the vinyl.

ReplyDeleteHad a nice exchange with Chris from Ideal Copy. They truly are "ideal." They apologized for the delay and have upgraded my order to first class mail for free to compensate for the delay, even though it was a supplier issue, not their fault.
ReplyDeleteI rarely promote businesses cuz it ain't my thang, but I have never had a difficult time with Ideal Copy. They set the standard for what businesses should be as far as customer service.
