here's to a good show, gang. feel better rs!
ReplyDeleteI hope tonight you´ll feel better RS.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes.
P.S.Try not to harm more your damaged voice, take it easy.....
Craig, any real clue about the 2 new songs ?
ReplyDeleteI hope they play it again...
Mad bob - What do you mean?
ReplyDeleteThe name of the songs...
ReplyDeleteNothing 100% confirmed, but the first song is said to Underneath The Stars. The second is unknown.
ReplyDeleteThanks, nothing left but stay to know the truth.
ReplyDeleteIf the songs are played tonight, i hope this time somebody record them...
Good Evening-Night at everyone.
Following closely the setlist and everything from Mexico City.
Good Luck CURE, Craig :-)
a sleepless night watching the champions league final and now waiting for a gig the other side of the world. I get the feeling im living in the wrong continent. morning everyone...should get to work...at some stage...
ReplyDeletei'm going to go off the rails here and guess that the heavy rock song is called 'lusting here in your mind.' !!!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteml68 - I definitely think we are on the wrong continent. It is just wrong that I should be at work while the concert is happening, and to make matters worse, I have back to back meetings (including a few overlaps)starting in half an hour.
ReplyDeleteI'm very sad that I am not going to be able to join in with todays festivities.
What an amazing looking venue to see The Cure. Here's to "V" getting an amazing show, and here's to Robert's healing vocal chords.
ReplyDeleteCraig - I'm sending you an email. Take a look. I think it's cool.
ReplyDeleteTim - the venue looks amazing - I can see why everyone was so excited about getting to see The Cure there.
ReplyDeleteHow fantastic if they open with Underneath the Stars again.
Hallo Craig- And you are eastern Time, right? I´m from germany, so i don´t know exactly your time zones.
ReplyDeletealtr2elise: yeah, I was in Colorado last Fall and made it a point to go see the venue. Unfortunately, there was nothing going on while I was there...but then again, it was bitter cold in November. I don't think they have any shows after September for that reason.
ReplyDeleteThe lucky locals will get to see REM there in a few weeks too. I can't complain, I'll be seeing them here in June too.
10:30pm? But Iwant them now!
ReplyDeleteBernie: figure on another 90 minutes or so before they hit the stage.
ReplyDeletev said that she would try to grab some of the new songs, she's there tonight.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous.
Good luck tonight, let's hope Bob makes it through at least 30 songs.
ReplyDeletealtr2elise-I heard they had snow there last week ...
ReplyDeleteHe could do some of the softer songs from Bloodflowers tonight. Wouldn't be that demanding on his voice, I guess...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, hope Robert's condition is better tonight!
BTW, good morning everyone!
Bernie - how cool about the snow. Hard to imagine from Australia.
ReplyDeleteJenny - I agree, if the could pick some of the softer songs it would save his throat. A Faith encore may be the call.
I think, maybe the best song for his voice would be `carnage visors´;)
ReplyDeletealtr2elise, maybe Denver fans are in for a special setlist tonight! Even if Robert is not at his best, listening songs from Bloodflowers and Faith would be worth it (at least for me). I just hope that Robert would drop some of the songs with high voice ranges tonight.
ReplyDeletebernie: LOL!!
ReplyDeleteJenny - I agree, I would LOVE a concert of the softer songs from those albums. Throw in To Wish Impossible Things and a few b-sides, and it would be Just Like Heaven for me.
ReplyDeleteThey should be playing BF songs anyway, but yes, tonite is the perfect nite for that, given the venue, his vocal probs ,etc.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was there - stunning venue.
They should do another Hotel Conrad-type set.
ReplyDeletewow, yeah that venue looks awesome.. wow (swoons).
ReplyDelete"Last Day of Summer"!
ReplyDeletewhats the address to watch the show?
ReplyDeleteSo did anyone check out the webcam before it was shut off? Was there anything interesting cure-wise?
ReplyDeleteJPX, that's the one I was thinking about!! And Out of this World, too. How I love these songs.
ReplyDeletejpx: Last Day of Summer is amazing, but even better IMO is Loudest Sound, as far as lush Bloodflowers ballads.
ReplyDeleteI think Out of This World might be the best Cure song in the past 10 years!
ReplyDeleteAnnie - There was last night. You could see the load-in, setup and testing of the lights. But they cut it off before the soundcheck today.
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad to see the BF love. I've been obsessed with that album since Trilogy. I could eat that album.
ReplyDeleteI love Loudest Sound, terrific lyrics.
ReplyDeletehttp://redrocksonline.com/pages/media/webcam.html
ReplyDeleteandrew
I play "The Last Day of Summer" on the last day of summer every year. Yes I know I'm a nerd.
ReplyDeletejpx - Out Of This World is my all-time favourite. The waves of music just wash over me every time I hear it.
ReplyDeleteAltr3elise, when the piano kicks in I get chills. It's that classic Cure sound. It sounds like it came straight off of Disintegration.
ReplyDeleteI saw several different people(hikers maybe) in white tshirts hanging around inside the ampitheater for a few mins...if they only knew I was watching and how envious I was of their current geography. I'm about to attempt an OOBE! If I can't dance back to the body on my bed somebody please haul my comatose body off to Atlanta next month...it can catch up with me there.
ReplyDeletejpx - I agree. When I went travelling in 2001 I didn't take any music with me (pre-iPod days), the first thing I did when I got home was put on Bloodflowers and it was like I found my breath again. I never travel without music now.
ReplyDeleteooooh, beachy I was confused I thought you were at the show tonite.. I sent you a pm on mfc, I am lisalovecat there..
ReplyDeleteI believe I’ll burst into tears if I ever see these BF songs live. Hell, the second disc of Trilogy almost got me into tears.
ReplyDeletejpx, I played Snow in Summer on my college radio show in the late Spring, and I've played the Cocteau Twins song Throughout the Dark Months of April and May in April and May (not on my radio show).
ReplyDeleteSnow in Summer, awesome! I'd love to hear some of those older b-sides like Sugar Girl and A Japanese Dream.
ReplyDeleteCome on, bring it on Robeet !!!
ReplyDeleteKick off with the new 1 !!!
Let´s set on fire Red Rocks !!!
I hope anyone at the show would record Underneath the Stars this time!! Com'on Denver!!!!!
ReplyDeleteUnderneath the Stars - I hope v has the video recording.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for V!
ReplyDeleteokay, so if V didn't record this, I'll hunt her down!
ReplyDeleteguess this webcam thing was too good to be true ??
ReplyDeleteYES!!! v, I"m sending you happy thoughts, now sample it girl!
ReplyDeleteI'm in agony here... I MUST HEAR THIS SONG.
ReplyDeleteAnd I want to hear the whole album NOW. I have become obsessed anew. I go months and months not listening to the Cure and now I can't stop listening to the new stuff, which then compels me to listen to the old stuff, which I haven't done in a while. Anyway, I WANT TO HEAR THIS SONG!
That's not the only b-side that I played during my time there, and not the only rarity. I once opened a show with the 12" extended remix of Why Can't I Be You?, and later during the same show, I combined the studio versions of Jumping Someone Else's Train and Another Journey By Train. It was fun finding just the right point to mix the second into the first.
ReplyDeleteWithout hearing the song - "waves crashing" and "stars on the screen" already has me thinking I am gonna love it.
ReplyDeleteClockwise, it's the same for me. I'm absolutely obsessed with getting this damn album. I've been listening to old stuff like crazy recently. I need to hear Underneath the Stars right now, damnit!
ReplyDeleteShawn, that's way cool!
What about Robert´s voice ?
ReplyDeleteIs he CUREd ?
Tell us more about Underneath the Stars !!!!!!!
Is it the "official" name of the song ?
Red Rock is soldout ?
Come On CURE !!!!!!!!
I LOVE WHAT YOU DO TO MY EARS....
altr2elise, I totally agree. The images just sound so beautiful. And from all the descriptions we've got so far, it could easily become one of my favorite on the new album.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a classic Cure title!
ReplyDeletethat ? is not a new song, Tapier didn't mention what it was.
ReplyDelete$%#^& I have to go and start my meeting marathon now! This is NOT fair.
ReplyDeleteI may be able to get out of one meeting, so hopefully I can check in around the time of the encores.
ENJOY!!!
Craig, I was just going to ask that... Perhaps it was POY?
ReplyDelete:@ WHAT?!
ReplyDeleteIs ? a new song? Called Question Mark, perhaps. :-P
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Bob's voice is...
If that question mark isn't a new song, then what the heck is it?
ReplyDelete100% POY, I bet ..
ReplyDeletePrayer's for Rain... How the hell can Robert do that song tonight? I wonder how he sounds tonight...
ReplyDeleteNo, it was Prayers. Asking about his voice now.
ReplyDeleteWow, I hope he doesn't blow a lung or something. I swear I think I will cry if he cancels the Bowl or the Shrine for a second time.
ReplyDeleteHope he feels better!
i'm loving this setlist so far
ReplyDeleteWhen he does Prayers his voice has to be alright, or?
ReplyDelete"His voice is amazing.... Sounds great"
ReplyDeleteSounds like he's healed.
Looks like the gods have answered Robert's nonexistent prayers!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised he's taking such risks with his voice. I really thought he'd do the songs that put less strain on his vocals. Maybe he took some throat steroids...
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear! Perhaps not talking yesterday helped.
ReplyDeleteAnd the setlist does look great so far.
Risks? Outside of Prayers for Rain, so far, the set looks to be easy on his vocal chords. Hmm, I wonder if Robert has an issue with vocal fold nodules, and will ever need surgery for it.
ReplyDeleteshawn, i just thought singing parts of prayers was a bit much for a man with a cold, but whatever.
ReplyDeleteThat´s a good news !!! but maybe is better for RS not to sing so loud for having a full healing on his voice.
ReplyDeleteLwet´s face it, Robert, you´re singing as your best, but there is no reason to go further...you´re not on 20´s....
It´s for your own good...and of course, for good of all of us.
Signal problems tonight.
ReplyDeleteclockwise, I didn't disagree on PFR. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sirer RS is a good judge of what he can and cannot do.
ReplyDeletesure :P
ReplyDeleteCraig, how do you know it's signal problems?
ReplyDeletehey all. nice setlist so far! wish i would've gotten home earlier to see it get underway.
ReplyDeleterobert has been sounding amaaazing anyway, before the whole throat debacle. just listen to his voice on perfect boy. i have become obsessed with that song owing to his soaring vocals.
ReplyDeleteThat's what Tapier said awhile ago. Having trouble getting a signal tonight.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Someday!
ReplyDeleteTapier needs to switch to Alltel. :P
ReplyDeletedo people taxt you or call you Craig ?? just curious how you got the reports..
ReplyDeleteI e-mailed him from my phone in Toronto. Oh, the wonders of technology...
ReplyDeleteHonestly, as cool as it is for peeps to text Craig stuff, I wouldn't do it. Texting is too confusing to me and I just wanna enjoy the show. Sorry Craig, but no updates from moi from Austin/ATL/Charlotte.
ReplyDeletecool, well ya wouldn't want to trust me as my spelling sucks as you can see..lol
ReplyDeleteNo problem Cat. Got those shows covered already.
ReplyDeleteclockwise, I'll bake you something nice if you give live reports. :)
ReplyDeleteCraig, do you already know the "?", it seems like a fabulous setlist so
ReplyDeleteMaybe Someday! So there IS hope for them to do BF songs tonight after all.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Hot Hot Hot!!! ?
ReplyDeleteshawn, i don't trust you - that smiley seems sly, like it has a knife behind it's back. ;-)
ReplyDeletebesides, i can't text fer shit. it takes me like 10 hours to type one word. i HATE texting and never do it. the only person who texts me is a girl i used to work with. i text her back like 2 word texts. i don't see how people are able to do it so fluidly. i type fast, but not on a tiny phone keypad!
text, either to my e-mail or cell.
ReplyDeleteClockwise, I hate texting too. It takes me a long time to get a simple message out.
ReplyDeletejenny: unfortunately all they seem to do anymore from bf is maybe someday. it defies rationale, as robert seemed to really love bf at one point. when i asked him in san fran why they didn't play more bf songs at curiosa, he said it was because they played a lot of stuff during the dream tour. LAME excuse. i think it's because he thinks it's too MELLOW or something, and he wants to have more of an edge or some shit. i dunno, but it's really STOOOPID that he neglects that poor album, one of their best!
ReplyDeleteNah, clockwise. I just like baking, and I'm good at it. :)
ReplyDeletemaybe someday is a great song. didn't they essential ignore disintegration on the wish tour except for lullaby & POY?
ReplyDeletefigurehead would be nice right about now...
ReplyDeletefigurehead is the cat's tits, and they ain't played it yet on this tour have they?
ReplyDelete*cries* i want to be there RIGHT NOW.
ReplyDeleteClockwise, I can't believe he said that...there are so many other songs they've been doing for ages, but that doesn't seem to be stopping them right now. BF is as much a classic as Pornography IMO. But considering its poor sale, maybe they think it's an obscure choice. Similar reason goes to the hugely neglected WMS, I think.
ReplyDeleteCat - not in the US. BTW, you can check and see what they've played by checking the 4Tour Song Tracker 8000. Look to the right side of the blog, scroll down a bit.
ReplyDelete4Tour Song Tracker 8000 > sliced bread
ReplyDeleteThey did Figurehead in the HK show. Amazing. And my prejudice towards Jason vanished right when the drum of the song kicked in.
ReplyDeletehot DAMN this is looking like a nice setlist. Must have been inspired by the lovely venue...
ReplyDeletei'm just trolling around on you tube and i found a really amazing version of taking off, my least favorite track from the cure. wow - it's SO much better than the studio version! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQUjxxtXIsI&feature=related
ReplyDeletenice one clockwise :).
ReplyDeleteClockwise, we have the same taste, I love Taking Off!
ReplyDeleteyeah, i think you're right that they don't play bf stuff because it's "obscure" in their catalog, at least as far as the masses are concerned. but screw the masses. i'm sure they're not exactly familiar with wrong number or never enough either, huh? so replace those songs with a coupla bloodflowers tunz!
ReplyDeletejpx: but but but...i hate taking off! but this version is far superior to the original studio version. i don't know if robert had vocal probs and that's why he was singing in a lower register, but it works stunningly well. i would love the song if this were the original version.
ReplyDeletenow watching a vid of cut here. GAWD THAT SONG IS SO GORGEOUS.
Have they ever performed Cut Here live?
ReplyDeleteapparently yes. i think at wembley at some point?? i will try to find a live version.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE that song!
I'm watching Plainsong live now...
ReplyDeleteI love Cut Here as well, very New Orderish.
ReplyDeleteYes they did. It didn't seem to go over very well, and they dropped it.
ReplyDeleteSomeone fly me to Red Rocks, so I can stomp on Tapier's phone.
ReplyDeleteTapier is going to the next 7 shows in a row. Hopefully the phone gets fixed somewhere in there. : )
ReplyDeleteI'm looking over my shoulder at my awesome BF poster... I was supposed to get the dreamtour poster but canada post BENT the tube to put in the mailbox- a huge battle ensued..
ReplyDeleteJPX & Clockwise, I love Cut Here too!! One of the most heartbreaking songs I've ever heard.
ReplyDeletethis tropic thunder movie looks hilarious
ReplyDeletemaybe you need backups, Craig...lol
ReplyDeleteClockwise, how long is that offer good for?
ReplyDeleteJenny, it's a great, yet depressing, song, pure Cure!
ReplyDeleteSeems like I did a mistake in the past: always played the wrong songs to the girls :)
ReplyDeleteHave someone else doing it on friday, so Tapier will be the backup.
ReplyDeleteBTW, V did volunteer to do it tonight if everything else fell through, but she really didn't want to. So I told her to just go and have fun. Let's hope she's recording though!
Just found Spilt Milk... there is no proper vid for it but there is the song with some pictures as visuals... I have only heard this song once or twice. I really like the music in it...the vocals are rather dry.
ReplyDeleteNow searching for Club America...
LOL shawn!!
ReplyDeletebernie, just curious, but what songs did you play to girls?
ReplyDeleteI love Spilt Milk! So depressing!
ReplyDeletewell I am thankful for these live updates... thank god for the internet.. I may not be flying all over to follow the band, but I'm on here most nights when there's a show..lol
ReplyDeleteI would DIE DIE DIE if they played Club America at any of my shows. DIE! I lurv that song so much. Watching a Jools Holland vid of it.
ReplyDeleteThis Tapier person, is it wrong to want to beat them because they get to go to the next 7 shows....hurumph!
ReplyDeletebernie liked to play 867-5309/Jenny and Sex Machine. Gee, and he wonders why he had trouble with the ladies...
ReplyDeletei´ve listen Club America live at the last show here in Mexico City last fall...
ReplyDeleteGreat show........ :-)
Tapier better be writing the set down or something. Tapier, if you read this, send me your cell phone, so I can practice with my father's axe and chainsaw. I'll return it when I'm done, if you'd like, though I'm afraid that it'll no longer be usable, or recognizable, for that matter.
ReplyDeleteI just got 6 of the missing texts at once. Good thing he numbered them. : )
ReplyDeleteJenny-I was just kidding. When I was young (years ago) Kiss me came out and disintegration and of course I listen a lot to Standing on a beach and HOTD, but my girlfriend(s) were more into the Smiths.
ReplyDeleteThis setlist rocks. And it's interesting that they're putting If Only Tonight We Could Sleep back into the main set.
ReplyDeletewell guys i love you so much this night everybody is happy and post good comments....
ReplyDeleteand today i feel alive again....
and i can hear again (i couldn't listen nothing for 4 days..i almost stay deaf....
now robert feel very well again...so i am very exited....
so roberts voice is good eh?
ReplyDeleteits all the charm of his fans... seriously, if he were to cancel it would cost him an arm and leg right? whats the notes on this? better to go out and try , is he doing it for the fans or would it cost way too much to cancel?
i love him either way...
well the OOBE attempt fell through, so I opted for a shower, a bootleg cure video from san jose 1997, and this blog to find out what I'm missing tonight.
ReplyDeletenow i'm watching jupiter crash at glastonbury. i am almost crying. i love the cure. i love everything about them. best band ever. i really need to go to bed.
ReplyDeletenow i'm watching jupiter crash at glastonbury. i am almost crying. i love the cure. i love everything about them. best band ever. i really need to go to bed.
ReplyDeleteCraig- Tapier should comment the finale song, if it is the new one, please
ReplyDeleteBernie - he is having phone problems. He's doing the best he can.
ReplyDeleteyeah, it's not like he owes us anything. he's doing us a favor! he should just enjoy the show. :-)
ReplyDeleteit's hard to get reception out there since red rocks amphitheatre is a bit removed from the city as a whole. i think he deserves credit for taking one for the team.
ReplyDeleteI found a positive aspect on the Tapier´s problems with the cell phone signal....it´s more intriguing and interesting to know if there will be more surprises...
ReplyDelete:-0
Mad Bob - exactly! I have no idea when or if there will be an update. : )
ReplyDeleteI was not complaining, and I will not. I´m glad he is doing us the favor of course. I´m just excited about the new song. S.o. wrote better as onehundredyears, just unbelievable
ReplyDeletegnite all. i am way past my beddy bye time. thankfully there don't seem to be any murders in my neighborhood tonight. cross your fingers, knock on wood, etc.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo, a 20 minute break from meetings. Great setlist.
ReplyDeleteSomeone mentioned The Figurehead - it was defintiely played at the Adelaide concert too.
am i talking to air?
ReplyDeleteGood Night Clock...
ReplyDeleteRest with any worries, nothing will happen ok.
Plainsong for the first encore! Very cool
ReplyDeletejason- kabukiface?
ReplyDeleteso is the new song a new new song or a new old song?
umm Lacature, i don´t really know how much cost to The Cure if they cancel a show, but, i want to believe the only reason for tonight´s concert takes place is RS voice is almost fully recover...
ReplyDeleteIf they do the Plainsong, Same Deep Water, Disintegration encore, I'm going back in time, buying a ticket and going to Red Rocks. : )
ReplyDeleteSo happy for V. She's getting a great show.
If the next song in the Plainsong encore is from Disintegration, I've got my money down that they're going to play The Same Deep Water As You in this encore.
ReplyDeletesofia! i logged on and wrote you, there was nothing! i'll hop back on.
ReplyDeleteme = luckyknucklesbaltimore
OMG.. same deep water ??? crossing my fingies..
ReplyDeleteI have to go now. Thank you Graig and Tapier . Good night everyone.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a Disintegration encore. If the next song is The Same Deep Water As You...I'll need to fly to the US to catch a show I think.
ReplyDeleteNo, If CURE play The Same Deep Water as You i sell my soul for going back time and go to Red Rocks, this is my ALL-TIME FAV CURE SONG...
ReplyDeleteThe most BeautifullY Sad song The EARTH could LISTEN EVER !!!!!!
A Master Piece.
suspeeeeense....lol
ReplyDeleteJenny - where are you flying from? Maybe we can charter a flight together (hypothetically speaking, of course)
ReplyDeletethis is an awesome site for past setlists
ReplyDeletehttp://www.cure-concerts.de/
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/
ReplyDeletehomepages/ChainofFlowers/
tour2004.html
Some of the pages are missing though.
charter a flight together...in the biblical sense?
ReplyDeletechrist. wheres clockwise when you need a filthy punchline? :D
thanks, craig!
ReplyDeleteSofia - I think you have filled in for Clockwise without any worries at all.
ReplyDeleteFor past tours also
ReplyDeletehttp://www.impressionofsounds.com/
Good site :-)
gah! missing! oh well...
ReplyDeleteDOH! Where did that 20 minutes go???? Have to go to my next meeting now, and I suspect the encores will be over and done with by the time I get back.
ReplyDeleteHave fun everyone. I'll need to makes sure my diary is booked out for the next concert so I can be at my PC.
thanks for the links....yeah camden...played jupiter crash at that one!
ReplyDeletealtr2elise - I live in Taipei, Taiwan (we're not part of China -- sorry, can't help it), a place where The Cure would never visit, sadly. Maybe if they tour Australia or NZ again, I'll go there to see them.
ReplyDeleteOnly two songs for the first encore. But a nice one!
ReplyDeleteidealcopy, i can has my 7"s now?
ReplyDeleteI'm exhausted .. gotts get to bed..
ReplyDeleteThanks Craig and maybe see some of you Friday...if I can make it.. I'll be here Sunday and eagerly awaiting being there LIVE Monday !!!
cheers,
jewella aka lisalovecat
Good nite Jewella.
ReplyDeleteIs the show ends already?
ReplyDeleteAnyone is awake here ?
I'm awake, more or less.
ReplyDeleteyeah... is the show over... i dont think it matters if i chime in now... haha! i tried to discuss something but only one person answered! you guys are all like going to a football team hahah...
ReplyDeleteAgain, I'm sorry about all of the problems tonight. I'll get the setlist sorted and corrected as soon as I can. And I'm pretty sure we'll have some good video late tonight or tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThe real question is, is Craig awake?
ReplyDeleteHaha. Well, I got my answer.
ReplyDeletelacature, I wouldn't mind talking sometime.
I'm awake and ready to face my afternoon work here. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Craig and Tapier for the live update. This is indeed a great setlist! I'd say it's one of the best in the US so far. And really looking forward to V's and other fans' report! We gonna hear the new songs this time.
No problem,Craig, and it´s not your fault anyway, neither Tapier´s...
ReplyDeleteI really appreciated all your work.
I think it´s not an easy choice go a concert of your favourite band, and instead of just enjoy the show, send reports of every song, every thing worth to be aware of.
So, Congratulations and thanks to the both of you.
And, let´s see what surprises remain on the full setlist, and i pray for having soon audio & video of the show, especially the 2 (or more?) new songs.
Thanks to Craig and Tapier for the update. My visits to the blog were sporadic (thanks to work), so I didn't even notice any delays in the reporting :-)
ReplyDeleteSee you all next time.
ok shawny im going to bed but im always here throughout the tour watching it so slip me a five... lol
ReplyDeletethanks craig and updater guy.
xo
