The Cure's performance of The Hungry Ghost has finally been posted on the Jimmy Kimmel website. Just wait for the commercial to finish, and the clip will start.
I hate to say that, but this band (is that what became The Cure ? Playing in a Pontiac garage on ABC ?) look even more pathetic than the Smashing Pumpkins. I can't believe it, and I'm going to throw up.
um...LYRICS??? boy did he screw that one up like 5 times.
i like the gentler octave with the higher one as a 'backing track' behind him. makes the song more introspective. the album version is kind of grating.
Pontaic sponsors that segment of the Kimmel show. That's why you see their adds on the website too... nothing the Cure can do about that, except not go on the show.
I think it's safe to say Robert didn't have his best week, but they did their best. I suppose we're spoiled by the bands usually flawless live performances.
Re: forgetting lyrics. I suppose if Robert limited the live shows to 85 minutes - and the same songs every performance, he'd be fine. Throw in a lyric teleprompter for good measure.
BUT, can you imagine the howls of indignation we'd have to put with from pissed of fans??
Based on past performance, i'm willing to cut Robert some slack.
Francois - your missus is a good friend of mine, so I'm gonna have to tell her about this crap that you've posted. You're gonna be in mighty big trouble boyo! She probably gonna thrash you with her Cat o' nine tails. OUCH!!
Sound mix was spot on man!
ReplyDeleteQuite liked that gentler take on the vocal. Verses like that + choruses like the album version would be perfectamundo.
Yeah!, Indeed better vocals, don't like much of his vocals on the last album. Sounds like he is forcing it, maybe even screeching sometimes.
ReplyDeleteThis to me is one of the better songs on the album, like this version very much!
You guys really like this version? He did it the same way at the secret show. i didnt enjoy it.
ReplyDeletei love this, just sing the chorus abit higher and it'd be fab
ReplyDeleteRipped the FLV file.

I liked this performance but I prefer album version
ReplyDeleteVery awesome!
ReplyDeletewhat does it say on Robert's guitar?
ReplyDelete"Born Again _________"
Does he have one of those label-ing machines or something? He always has some kind of saying on his guitar : )
Born again existentialist, right?
ReplyDeletedude....this is better than the album version for real
ReplyDeleteOMG Sugargirl. We're both total dancing idiots! What a great night!
ReplyDelete(((((((((((YAY))))))))))) i love this !
ReplyDeleteYes, Regina *waves*
ReplyDeleteAndy, you rock my socks off.
ReplyDeleteNo problem guys, I do what I can.

I cannot get the sendspace download to work. Does anyone know if there is something I need to do to the file?
ReplyDeleteTHX
Yes, this version is awesome.

what's with the Pontiac insignias??
I still think the Rome Version is the best one.
ReplyDeleteAlso, he shouldn't go on stage completely wasted. He keeps forgettin the lyrics to the songs (the new ones especially)
I think I caught a glimpse of him swearin during the hungry ghost at the secret myspace show

i definitely love the change in vocals from the album. also, i love when rob forgets the words and changes it up.... it keeps it interesting :)
ReplyDeletethis is pretty bad. i'm cool with a subdued, 'bloodflowers,' style vocal but he's not even pulling that off too well. robert been sick?
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
ReplyDeleteFreakshow & Hungry Ghost MP3 COMPLETE :http://thecurerarities.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI wasn't criticizing Rob, it was more an observation on how exhausted he looked..I know the band had an incredibly intense week ;)

ReplyDeleteswifty, that's not MY francois. dorkables.
ReplyDeleteAt some time, will the rest of the songs done on Kimmel be shown on his website?
ReplyDeleteSorry Cat...I was just goofing around, being a complete dork, as usual.
ReplyDeletesadly, swifties, MY francois dislikes the cure pretty intensely. but he's still a wonderful-icious dude with good taste otherwise.
ReplyDelete(((((swiftablezzz)))))
Morris - I doubt it, but I wish as well.
