Thanks to Kate, Vince and Craig for the live updates. I can't think of a better way to start my Sunday morning than by recreating an "in progress" Cure concert, whilst having my breakfast and reading the Sunday morning paper.
the cure will play tonight HALO, 2LATE, TREASURE, THE UPSTAIRS ROOM, BIRD MAD GIRL AND PIGGY IN THE MIRROR....
UNFORTUNATELY THEY WON'T PLAY THEM EVEN IF THIS NIGHT WAS THE LAST NIGHT BEFORE THE END OF THE WORLD...I'M HAPPY FOR THE ENCORE BUT AT THE SAME TIME I'M SAD BECAUSE MY WISH NEVER WILL COME TRUE...I KNOW...IT'S JUST A DREAM OF MINE...
The less I see and hear of Fascination Street, the better. It's not a bad song at all, but it's massively overplayed, like From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea.
Oh, and I liked tonight's setlist, though I'm hoping for even more stuff to make some appearances. A Faith or Pornography encore wouldn't be unwelcome.
IMO Fascination Street is maybe the greatest rock song ever recorded.
The bass line is about as catchy as a bass line could be. And the layering of the guitars is song arrangement at its best. The thing that is special about Fascination St is that it creates such a mood/vibe of mystery and eerieness. The live version from the Toronto Curiousa show is amazing.
Thank you to Craig, Kate, and Vince for all of the updates! Even though I had to spend my Saturday evening at work, I kinda feel like I also got to go to a show. :)
Fascination Street is BOOOOOOOOOORING. Always has been always will be. And that's a fact. ;-)
It's a good setlist, but not ideal, IMO. I'm getting really annoyed at the lack of BF stuff. They always pull that shit. Sure, they did MS, but do more! The title track, OOTW, Where the Birds, There is No If, Last Day of Summer, LOUDEST SOUND... hot damn those songs are good and Robert just ignores them.
In Atlanta, we need: Holy Hour, Figurehead, BF stuff, Kyoto Song, Want, Club America, Jupiter Crash, Labyrinth, B43, Lost, and then lots of other Faithy/17/HOTD stuff.
If I don't get my requests, I will renounce my Cure fandom and start stalking Clay Aiken.
I was at this show last and it was amazing!!! It was definitely the best show I have seen from the Cure so far.. the songs were amazing and the band was in such good spirits.. I was so happy !!
Late post but I'll have to say I loved every minute of this show. The Cure were great & on fire. What a perfect night. I only wish I could go to more shows on this tour!
I bet they´ll play Open !
ReplyDeleteSo be it!!.
i go for "want" ;-)
ReplyDeleteI second that! :)
ReplyDeleteMy "second" was for "Open", but "Want" would also rock. :)
ReplyDeleteYes!!! "Open"!! :) I vote for "Want" to be second...
ReplyDeleteThe return of Fascination St!
ReplyDeletei wonder when times will come when we're getting just-in-time live videos...:)
ReplyDeleteYay, "Fascination Street" works, too. :) Great "Open" pic, btw!! Is Simon's hair still black? ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, still black.
ReplyDeleteAt least he did last night. He apparently is wearing a hat tonight.
ReplyDeleteSo fashionable, as always! I bet it comes off before the end of the main set, though. :)
ReplyDeleteMAYBE SOMEDAY! Finally a Bloodflowers song! Wish I was there.
ReplyDeleteV - I asked Kate to get a shot of the hat but it's already off. : )
ReplyDelete@Craig: Hahaha - how did I know?!? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm already feeling better about things, but I'll reserve final judgment until the end of the show.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful you are. Maybe they'll do The Kiss too?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like they are changing the setlist up a bit from the Australian shows.
ReplyDeleteHmm, so much for "The Kiss" in the main set...:(
ReplyDeleteCool - "End"!!
ReplyDeleteThanks to Kate, Vince and Craig for the live updates. I can't think of a better way to start my Sunday morning than by recreating an "in progress" Cure concert, whilst having my breakfast and reading the Sunday morning paper.
ReplyDeletenow this is a setlist! damn!!! i think we're in for some surprises on this tour!
ReplyDeleteKiss me encore! The Kiss WILL get played tonight. : )
ReplyDeleteIncredible set list!!!!! I can't wait to see what we have in store for Boston! Sorry I keep yelling!
ReplyDeleteJPX - Just don't type in all caps! : )
ReplyDeleteFreakshow takes lead off spot in the second encore. That's different.
Yes, please do not turn into JP "All Caps" X! ;)
ReplyDelete*wondering what is next...*
I'm hoping they took out Lovecats and Let's go to bed so they can add 3IB and Fire in Cairo to the 3rd encore.
ReplyDeleteOr if they just want to do the Faith encore, that'll work too. : )
Yes! Keeping our "Boys" theme of the day going.
ReplyDeletethe cure will play tonight
ReplyDeleteHALO,
2LATE,
TREASURE,
THE UPSTAIRS ROOM,
BIRD MAD GIRL
AND PIGGY IN THE MIRROR....

Holy shit! That's the set I want for Vancouver!!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I was hoping Robert would not stick to the Euro set list. All the MUST do songs:
Open
Fascination Street
End
If Only Tonight ...
The Kiss
Bonus Maybe Someday. Hopefully, Robert does the "Philly Set" in Vancouver rather than the "DC" set.
And further continuing the "Boys" theme... :)
ReplyDeleteRam, Halo is one of the best Cure b-sides ever and I'd love to hear it live, but I can't complain about this set list (so unlike me).
ReplyDeleteI am bouncing off the walls after seeing that: Open, Fascination St and End have been "resurrected".
ReplyDeleteI re-iterate what an awesome set list!
Can't wait for May 26th

I've never been a fan of Fascination Street, but this is just a terrific set list.
ReplyDelete'Fascinating' comments ...

ReplyDeleteFascination Street is a very nice song, but I agree it is overplayed. IMHO, it is not even The Cure's best rock song ever recorded...
ReplyDeleteThanks Craig and everyone else for the live updates. It is terrific.
I saw them in Paris & London, the set-list of Philadelphia is fantastic...Entering with "Open"...
ReplyDeleteJust like Stockholm!

PS Open sucks. Bring back Want and Lost!
ReplyDeletei have a video i need to upload
ReplyDelete::puts clockwise in a headlock and starts giving a noogie::
ReplyDeleteTake back what you said about Open, or I'm going to start giving wedgies and swirlies! :P
But I LIKE wedgies!
ReplyDeleteCan't take it back, cuz it's da TRUTH, RUTH!
Want is worlds better as an OPENer, as is LOST.
I'm hoping in ATL they play The Holy Hour as opener, though. I would DIE DIE DIE!
