Update: Here's their page. And you can cast your vote here, though it's just a fan poll for fun and doesn't count in the actual decision. The 5 - 7 finalists will be chosen by the 500 voting members.
Media reports: Telegraph, Billboard, New Times, The Guardian, Washington Post, Belfast Telegraph, Associated Press, NME, Consequence of Sound, Slicing Up Eyeballs

ReplyDeleteFinally!!! Even more exciting is that 2012 is a year that the induction ceremony is in Cleveland. Everyone's invited to stay at my house! Dare we dream?!?!?
ReplyDeleteI'd go to Cleveland...
ReplyDeleteCongratulation to The Cure!!! VERY WELL DESERVED AND IT'S ABOUT FREAKING TIME!!!! ;0)
ReplyDeletebut how is heart getting more votes?! HEART?!?!
ReplyDeleteVery good news !
ReplyDeleteThe CURE is the best band of all time,no more no less.
Justice is what the R&R Hall of Fame is doing with their nomination.
Funny to see G´N R & Heart is ahead on the poll.
Is there anybody here that knows the criteria used to decides which bands win the induction?
Which are the chances of the band to make it?
I,humbly think, they should be on the final list.
Shortest acceptance speech evar!

ReplyDeleteRNR HOF
http://rockhall.com/inductees/nominees/the-cure/ BORIS WILLIAMS, LOL TOLHURST AND JASON COOPER HAVE EACH BEEN THE CURE'S DRUMMER ON FOUR ALBUMS... BORIS WILLIAMS WAS IN THE BAND FOR 9 YEARS AND LOL TOLHURST FOR 11 YEARS (5 YEARS AS DRUMMER)... BUT JASON COOPER HAS BEEN DRUMMING WITH THE CURE FOR 17 YEARS, FROM 1994 TO THE PRESENT DAY... JASON COOPER IS THE CURE'S DRUMMER - AND IT SICKENS ME THAT HE DOESNT GET A NAME CHECK... BAH! RSX
Cleveland is just a three hour drive away from me, so I'll be going to the induction ceremony if The Cure make it.

ReplyDeleteI don't go on Twitter nor Facebook nor Myspace but it would be efficient to ask fans to vote even if it won't have any impact on the professionals who'll vote. Just the pleasure and fun to see The Cure ahead !
Is it possible to send a message to the 3+ million people who're Cure friends on Facebook ? When I go to a huge record shop, I put lots of Cure CD's in front of people I hate like Aha or Guns&Roses. I'm ashamed but it's very funny !
finally :) couldn't be more deserved.

ReplyDelete....TWILIGHT?!
ReplyDeleteWho do I yell at about this?
:)
ReplyDeleteand, so i know i know i know that it's "rock & roll" hall of fame, but i'm pretty happy to see the beasties and rakim on there. finally getting to the era where quality hip hop is eligible. my votes would go to the cure, chili peppers, eric b & rakim, and the beastie boys.

Not really. It doesn't count for anything other than fun. The poll does NOT determine who the finalists will be.

ReplyDeleteGood Luck to the Cure! I hope the get in. I'll keep voting for the fun of it. It's too bad our votes don't count. :( Really shouldn't the fans option count for something?
ReplyDeletethe big side news to all of this is Rush still has never received a nomination. Go Cure!
ReplyDeletei'm going to keep voting just because i want to see us topple the chili peppers.
ReplyDeleteHey ! Chilli Pepers 33,400, The Cure are
ReplyDelete#2 with 29,800 !
This is probably too far down for people to read, but why don't we as cure fans start an "Occupy the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame"?????
