Why? I'd seriously love to know why a major label can't release anywhere near on time. I'm so sick of this now... it'll never be out, I accept that now. I'm off to forlornly look at my Trilogy booklet.
The Promo Set 'availability' reminds me of the 'olive branch' that Hypnagogic States was offered as, anyone else think this? Here's hoping that Mixed Up 2 and Wish see the light of day SOON!!! 30 year DVD, In Orange Blu Ray, BBC Box Set, i-Tunes album, GIVE ME IT!!!!!! I'm still waiting for musical pieces that were recorded by all the acts from Curiosa, as per the tour book, maybe the 30th anniversary, 2034?!?!?
The 3x CD version is probably sitting in boxes ready to go.... just waiting for the double-LP to make its through the backlog at the vinyl pressing plants.
Seriously, why is it that there are always these problems when a release date is set for anything pertaining to The Cure? You don't typically hear this happening with other bands yet whenever The Cure set a release date (or whoever is setting the date) inevitably it takes 2-3 more tries to get the material out. This isn't even new material - what's the problem?
Just found this at "CDWOW.US" for $20.99, through Sunday! And that includes shipping to the States!! Can't beat that, especially with Amazon at $35.99. Their regular price seems to be $22.99, but that's still excellent.
I know the audio quality is sh*t but I can notice Robert has changed the big snare drum sound present in the first release of Entreat, and has replaced it for a dry jason-like snare drum sound!!!
I hope I'm wrong and it's only the bad sound quality of Amazon, but I'm almost sure Robert has badly messed with Boris' sound!
Esten, Noheart and a demo of Delirious Night have been leaked for a while now. Not sure if they are from the remaster or if someone got hold of the demos a while ago.
@hinreckandjoe: well, in this case yes! i have listened to the tracks in discs 1 and 2 and I can say that they have that wonderful Boris sound! but Entreat has been crippled & degraded to a jason-like sound (cardboard box sound)! and the mix has been altered too, making it sound like a mess (a.k.a "current Cure sound") I'm hatting Bobby!
Mmm.. a few people have commented on the 'butchering' of the drum sound on Entreat.. I'm only going by the promo sampler, which is in RAR/mp3 format and it was mentioned in another thread. The sound quality of these files are going to be inferior due to the format it's in. lt is pointless trying to judge anything until we have the final product in our hands..
It is a totally different snare sound. It's missing a lot of the original's low-end and the big gated reverb isn't so...... well, big anymore. I doubt they completely re-sampled in another snare drum, but it was mutilated with EQ. The promo track MP3s aren't the greatest audio quality, but they're good enough to tell that that isn't what's causing such a drastically different sound.
i do like how they made the bass and the guitars crisper. and the keys louder. if only the snare had that big swoosh too it it would all sound pretty rad
i have just finished listening to the promo tracks and i agree that the mix in Entreat is pure shit now! i hate how much Robert has butchered the reverb and punch of Boris snare drum in Disintegration! it even sounds strange like the snare has been completely replaced and even played live by Jason(?)... the reason i think this is that the relationship between the hi-hat/snare/bass drum is messy and out of time throughout the song! it sounds really bad and the lack of coordination is evident! WHAT HAS THEY DONE TO A MASTERPIECE?????
I agree that the snare sound on the new version of Entreat does not hold water to the original version. Hopefully when the set is released the difference won't be so glaring.. but I seriously doubt that will happen.
GAH! I know a birthday gift from RS and gang was too much to ask for.
ReplyDeleteughhlfdks :/

Bob is out of mind (fat and old)!
The song "esten" really sounds great !!!

ReplyDeleteAre the insults really necessary, Richard?

ReplyDeleteDon't hate me, but I think the drums sound great on the entreat portion. First thing I noticed actually.
ReplyDeletei hope everyone's mistaken and they didn't wreck the drums on entreat ( purposely haven't listened yet)
ReplyDeleteand if he did... what of orange. what a tragedy that would be!
Well, as long as you are just hatting Bobby, I guess it's fine.

ReplyDeleteentirely different drum sound on entreat and very dissapointing

ReplyDeleteSo I was right and Bob messed with Boris sound! aaarrrgghhhhh! >:(
ReplyDeleteI take this as a provocation to Cure fans who hate Jason's sound!
I repeat: Bob has become fat & old and to make thing worse, has lost respect to his old fans.
