    Apparently she's the new Kate Moss :) Whatever that means. But she's one of those "supermodels" who fall out of nightclubs pissed and hang around festivals all summer long, hence she'll end up in next day's tabloids for sure. Cool t-shirt, though :D

    tyler - yep, shes a fashion model! very popular too. her boyish hair is one of the reasons shes so sought after - it made her stand out amongst the other models.

    she was at RCMH, so she is a cure fan.

    shes trying to break into music now.. she did a song with this one band, theyre praised by the likes of pitchfork.. so yeah. shes ok at singing.

    I actually would mind LESS Robert doing an AS duet than a collab with Fall Out Boy. I don't like AS at ALL, but I'm kind of intrigued when Robert crosses genres. I am probably the only one who really likes Da Hype, for example, cheesy discoy song that it is. I didn't like JSY, but I don't see why a collab with AS would HAVE to be inherently bad.

    I am more mortified by these pseudo-Cure bands like Fall Out Boy and AFI. Cheesy fluffy pop ala AS is just that, while FOB and AFI have pretenses to something MORE. THAT to me is worse than AS, who is what she is, for better or worse.

    That said, I really liked Robert's collab with B182, even though I find that band pretty reprehensibly bad overall. I also liked MOST of his other collabs - but the Korn thing sucked testes, IMO.

    Bring on the Shakira collab, that is what I say! :-)

    cat- i agree with you. rather have him collab with someone who isnt trying to pass themselves off as another genre.
    i actually liked the korn collab, not so with blink. and they killed a letter to elise!
    about AFI - they started off as a punk band here. now that tour is up for the cure, im more obsessed than usual. the cure makes other bands sound inferior. i cant enjoy afi anymore.. it sounds so.. yuck. i once talked to davey havok at 2 AM on the phone, i was so excited about that. now that i see who he really is, i dont like him anymore.

    shakira collab.. now that i would like to see.

    DJ, in all actuality, i heard a few AFI songs that i liked okay...but it's just so fake compared to the Cure. AS, for better or ill, at least has no Cure pretensions... she just exists as she is - fluffy pop queen.

    Why did you talk to DH on the phone, exactly?

    Yes, the Cure pretty much blows every other band away - except for Tom Waits. He really is the best ever, even if I am more obsessed with The Cure.

    cat - when AFI was on tour again, i was so happy, i had been a fan for quite a while. once their tour was over, i stopped listening for a while - and over time, i realized their music sounded so average compared to other bands. AFI is no longer a local band, and i must learn to accept that. i mean yes, they are still regarded as local here, but the band no longer seems to recognize their roots with all their orange county partying.. ahem davey havok. he is an attention whore.

    i talked to him because he was on live105, the radio here. i called for two hours straight until someone picked up the phone. it was a few days before my birthday, and a couple weeks after seeing them at Download.. and yes, robert is a fan of theirs. that was back when i liked them.

    i hate the majority of the AFI fanbase. =/

    I don't GET at ALL why Robert is a fan of AFI. Deftones are good... but AFI?? I'll even take Blink over AFI. Their rendition of JLH on MTV Icon was atrocious. They truly SUCK labias!

    i liked their jlh cover much much better than blink's elise. MUCH BETTER.

    i also liked their cover of nin's head like a hole.. but if you havent heard it yet, i think you should stay away from it. i think everyone here who hasnt heard it, shouldnt bother to hear it. they will be happier if they dont. i still have great tolerance for AFI, i dont think others here do, lol.

    robert likes alot of things that surprise me.. like he'll say he hates a band that is quite good, and then he'll like fall out crap and afi enough to see their shows, listen to their records..

    honestly, i think robert is just being nice regarding AFI and FOB... they are Cure fans so he returns the favor. his favorite band is mogwai, who are insanely good, and unless something is seriously awry upstairs, he can discern the difference in caliber between mogwai and AFI. even so, even if he does genuinely like AFI, i suppose we are all allowed our guilty pleasures, no? mine being (early) journey. :-)

    journey isnt bad.their early work is good.

    i think its sweet that robert is nice like that. there are some artists out there that call the work of their fans, shit.

    ive met other cure fans who are closet AFI fans as well

    but if you ever come to cali for a cure show, and davey havok is djing at the afterparty - EWW! stay away from that man ;)

    I'm probably one of the very few here who actually loves the Blink-182 collaboration. 'All of This' beats anything on the self-titled, if you ask me.

    And I dig probably a handful of AFI songs; a friend insisted I listen to her copy of their newest album, and there's some little almost instrumental bit hidden in a song that I actually really loved.

    Words I never thought I'd say about an AFI song....

    tyler: i love all of this, as i said, but there are great songs on self-titled as well: lost, labyrinth, b43, eotw, tgb... (repeating myself as i am wont to do)

    dj, it would be a blast to attend a tom waits show with you! :-D by that time you will be 17, perhaps too chagrined to act 15, but at 41, all my cares have slipped way, so i'll just have to act extra goofy for the both of us! ;-)

    i think you would love tom waits live, but really there are very few opportunities to act goofy, as you are so immersed in WATCHING. it's not like a cure show, where you go hormonally mad... it's more of a theatrical event.

    of course, some people don't approach cure shows the way i do... ;-)

    self-titled is WAY better live... they need to bring back lost and promise!

    i love mogwai!
    i mean the ones that are inexplicable and dodgy.
    to me.
    i suppose i could name them all but it's mostly the younger bands. and mtv was HORRIFIC to me. i like the deftones alright but just having marilyn manson there being "spooky" (or whatever the hell he still thinks he's doing) just made me disgusted.

    to me robert's just gone back on everything he ever said about artistic integrity by working with these shit bands.
    that's the way i feel. *snif*

    sofia, i don't disagree at ALL. mtv icon was a disgrace, period. i have no clue why robert tolerated pukey fakey marilyn manson. anyway, as i said i don't hate the blink collab at all, and the others are pretty good except for korn, imo. i have no clue why he would like current-day korn. their first album was good and that's it - now they suck! some of the other collabs, too, were more respectable... earl slick, and that other dude. although i hated the forest re-mix...pointless waste of time and energy. but most of them were surprisingly okay, to my ears...

    but i see your point and don't disagree... why collab with pukey fakes like korn or befriend AFI?

    it's his life...he can do what he want... but i don't always understand his motives...

    I have to disagree about Rob gushing. I don't think he's been obsequious towards any of these bands. I admit, Robert can be pretty confusing, in terms of some of the people he chooses to work with :ahem: Ross Robinson :ahem: and others like him who cannot hope to grasp what The Cure are and what they're all about.

    Nearly every cover I've heard of a Cure song leaves me flat.
    There's little genuine emotion behind it. The Deftones cover of If Only Tonight- was pretty badass. The cover Dinosaur Jr did of Just like Heaven was pretty decent. Even though I didn't care for the singers voice.
    I thought the Korn collab was ok. Again, didn't care too much for the singers voice. The Blink one was horseshite though. That's supposed to be punk?? It's borderline pussy pop.

    I am shocked no ones brought up Roberts collaboration with Reeves Gabriels? Yesterdays Gone... the guitar work is very dreamy and reminds me a lot of Porls, and Roberts vocals are very beseeching and Wish-esque to me. Very gorgeous.

    As far as Robert's collaboration with other artists goes, I think a fitting statement would be: Robert has his reasons, whereof reason knows nothing.... Pascal no?

    trying to pass off this crappy pop as punk, thats so sad. as the years go by, real punk gets rarer and harder to find. hot topic - all their band shirts are made in Honduras and they rip you off at $20-65 for their clothes. which were made by some third world country, without the right wages. and then they call it punk. thats despicable! how dare you take advantage of those people - giving them less pay, less workers rights, less of everything - AND THEN TRY TO HIDE BEHIND A REBELLIOUS EXTERIOR?? shitty, false pretenses.

    i have a big AFI poster on the wall, and i dont have the heart to take it down. i just get slightly angry everytime i look at it.

    helsa - thats one of my favorite collabs. unfortunetly, the less.. desirable collaborations,mixes, etc. etc. all the notorious bad stuff draws more attention and talk than the real treasures. cranes did forever with the cure during wish tour - beautiful. robert almost mixed Jewel on their album Forever (named after the cure song), and i love that one.

    i'm ashamed to admit I check the dailymail on a daily basis. I find it amazing how people follow these celebs around and report on their slightest movements; it's quite entertaining.

    And by the way, Agyness can be quite striking sometimes and quite rediculous at other times.

    I told you guys she was at Radio City, even my friend who was with me didnt believe me, she was w/a cute dude too, very laidback. She had no makeup on and had perfect skin, I notice that stuff. She was looking into the crowd walking back and forth on the main floor, not hiding like most of those types. Toni
