Cure finally nominated for R & R HoF!

Update: Here's their page. And you can cast your vote here, though it's just a fan poll for fun and doesn't count in the actual decision. The 5 - 7 finalists will be chosen by the 500 voting members.

Media reports: Telegraph, Billboard, New Times, The Guardian, Washington Post, Belfast Telegraph, Associated Press, NME, Consequence of Sound, Slicing Up Eyeballs

"We just received our new issue of Rolling Stone magazine in the mail. On page 22 the IN THE NEWS sections reveals that the Cure will be on the 2012 ballot!!!! Other nominees include Guns N Roses, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, The Spinners and others.
The RR Hall of Fame website says they will be announcing the nominees tomorrow on facebook!!!!" (Thanks Jaime)

Congratulations to Robert and the entire band...past & present!

Pleasure of being a Cure fan

"I would just like to let you know that this morning I was interviewed by Finnish national radio YLE about being a Cure fan. This weeks program was about pleasures and I was interviewed about the pleasures of seeing the Cure live all around the world. The interview is obviously in Finnish but maybe someone who understands the language would like to hear it." (Thanks Antti)

Upcoming alt NOIR interview with Roger

Roger will be doing an interview with alt NOIR magazine and they would like for you to submit some questions for him. He can't really talk about any future Cure projects/events, but anything else is fine. You can post your question in the comments or email it to me, and I will pass them on. Thanks! Need them by the middle of next week. (Thanks Tracy)

Roger adds: "I will be mostly answering questions on algebra, statistics and pure maths so please make them challenging!" : )

Official site update

Robert has posted a link to his Take Forever remix, and in his usual cryptic manner, drops a "MORE NEWS VERY SOON I FEEL". IGA also posted the winners of 3 Cure Bestival guitars. That photo looks awfully familiar, doesn't it, April? ; )
(Thanks notherbob)

Cure article/Robert interview? in Sonic Seducer

Looks like there's either a Cure article or interview with Robert in the new Sonic Seducer magazine. Here's a translation of the preview: "This means, that the last album is some years ago, but Robert has done things. They listened closly as Robert talks about Thin Lizzy and "Alice in Wonderland" and tells something about exciting tour-plans and forthcoming releases of The Cure." (Thanks to Joerg from newly reformed The Last Remedy. Here's their cover of A Night Like This from 1994)

Update: As suspected..."saw it today, it is just a German translation of the Hot Press (Roisin Dwyer/Hot Press is credited for it) article, absolutely no news or anything else to add in the article." (Thanks Dennis)

Bestival notes

According to Rob da Bank, Robert's favorite act at Bestival was Kitty, Daisy & Lewis.

"Play for Today and A Forest were also broadcast in HD in the highlights programme on Sky 1 (as opposed to Sky Arts)"
(Thanks Ghostfinder)

Did Q TV ever show any of The Cure at Bestival?

The Sky Arts HD broadcast is now up on Dime.

Roger on Radio Devon tonight

Roger O Donnell BBC Radio Devon 12.09.2011 by Thecurerarities

Roger was once again on the Late Show with Vic Morgan on BBC Radio Devon. Missed it? Listen on the BBC iPlayer (at 1:15:10) or SoundCloud. (Thanks Exploding Cure/TheCureRarities)

Update:
Roger on future Cure events - "lots of people are going to be very very happy before very long." : )

Update 2: And here's a Swedish interview from Kulturbloggen (English translation).

And I'm sure Roger won't mind if I throw in a plug for our friend Matthew North and his band Secrets for September. They are playing Oct. 1st in London and you can get tickets here.

Fish & chips for The Cure? False

"For those who absolutely need to know everything about The Cure, please find an article I read in The Sun this morning...totally useless and who cares, but anyway..." (Thanks Perfect.Murder)

Hey, I do say "News, rumors, minutiae". : )

No surprise, but Roger says it's not true:
"How can they just make stuff like that up? And why would it have to be taxied there were about 100 F&C stands there! there wasn't even any food in our dressing room, I was starving! Well I was to nervous to eat!"

Shawn's DJ set from the Vegas Cure party

"With the Cure high that we're all experiencing because of the band's Bestival performance, I figured that I'd help it continue by asking Craig to post a link to the Cure dance party that I DJed in Las Vegas back in January. I think that you'll be pleasantly surprised with the setlist. Enjoy. :)

Note: It's a ZIP file with both an Mp3 with the show and an RTF file with the setlist and notes, so if you have any problem with the latter, just look in the comments. Oh, and make sure to click on the link in the blue box in the middle column that says "Click here to start download from sendspace." The download links that may show on the top or sides are actually ads." (Thanks Shawn)

Roger will be tambourine shopping again

Don't read this, Jason!

At the end of last night's show, "Roger threw his tambourine, guess who got it?" (Thanks JC/Perfect.Murder)
Update from Roger: "Actually it was one of Jason's tambourines and I don't think he knows about it yet hahah so don't tell him!"

See it in action! And watch Roger throw it to JC. (Thanks Aaron and Matthew)

Roger comes clean...finally! : )

(Thanks to April for the photo)

"Yes I am on stage playing with the band again and hopefully 15 minutes in I haven’t played any wrong notes!

Robert asked me about a month ago to play Bestival and I was very happy to say yes. Playing these songs again, old friends, being up on stage with Robert, Simon and Jason who are really family to me, it is all right.

Looking forward I’m sure there will be lots of exciting Cure projects in the future which I am very excited to be a part of again... "

And on Twitter: "I never lied but was less generous with the truth than normal! Thanks for all the messages! I'm very happy to be back! Good things coming!"

Welcome back, Roger! It has been far too long, and we missed you tremendously!
