"Free Music" update

Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth) agrees with Robert. (Thanks Kate)

  1. What I found so disgusting is how that Pitchfork bastard Ryan Dombal is so hesitant about saying anything mean about her, but totally lambasts Robert at every opportunity. I've emailed Pitchfork about this anti-Cure bias before, but I don't think they care. I HATE Ryan Dombal.

  3. Awesome that Kim Gordon is agreeing with Robert! Sonic Youth is pretty kick ass themselves.

  4. Oh Mulfeld, Pitchfork are so pretentious, I wouldnt waste your time complaining to them, there are a set cadre of bands you cannot touch as far as they are concerned, Sonic Youth being one of them and Radiohead....geez Thom Yorke could take a dump on a record and have it pressed into the groove baked and sold as a scratch and sniff the art school boy limited edition and it would be lauded as genius...ugh

  5. I know what you mean, alastair, but I found Nitsuh Abebe's review of 4:13 Dream quite lovingly critical. Other Pitchfork reviewers and news people are okay, but Ryan Dombal is the only one who really hates Robert and The Cure for no reason and absolutely adores that jerk Morrissey. I don't know how anyone can mark Morrissey's latest album higher than 4:13, though "That's How People Grow Up" is alright.

  6. Meh, anyone who has the lack of sense to rate Tool's Lateralus album a 1.9 out of 10 doesn't even deserve to be writing reviews. I'm with alastair in that Pitchfork is completely useless. They are pretentious indie snobs who definitely listen to way too much Radiohead.

  7. heh heh, i love to see the pitchfork slating....oh they can be so up themselves its annoying, I am all for being exposed to new things, but they froth at the gills about stuff that doesnt always deserve it, and predictably slate more enjoyable populist acts....I can imagine talking to them and they would say things like, oh yes I loved that band, but only the early stuff...yawn

  8. Well, I will agree with them that The Knife's Silent Shout was amazing and worthy of their album of the year a couple years back. If they weren't so pretentious and catty, I might have a better opinion of them. It does seem like they rarely even listen to the music they're reviewing though.
