20 years of News, rumors, minutiae about The Cure
me too!at first i didnt like their new style of videos like "wrong", but it really fits with the new album.still missing anton corbijn though
I'm really loving the new album. Moreso than I expected to. Love some DM. I like the style of the vid too....almost like watching a mini movie.
holy fuggin' load of shite! i love some DM but this video and this song are both meandering crap.
Remember when videos seemed to have something to do with the song? The lyrics to this song and the video just do not mesh. Video is well made, song is one of the worst DM ever. And I love everything they do!
I think the video perfectly depicts a struggle for personal, internal peace and complements the lyrics quite well. I always took this song to be more a hopeful mantra for someone who is still seeking peace ("...peace will come to me, it's inevitability..."), than the triumphant declaration of someone who has already achieved it. The girl in the video is clearly in the throes of personal struggle, and to me, the song represents the hope that she clings to as she endures each disappointing and grueling day of her existence.Maybe I have spent too much thinking about this, but that's just the way I see it... :)
I agree V. There is a lot to the vid. What I don't care for is the constant looping of the title. I know it's standard DM to sing the title over and over and over, but it gets old. I know they are capable of more.
Cureheart: Ah, but the repetition is what made me liken it to a mantra. :) I think it is repetitive by design. Then again, this just may be another case of me reading too much into things. :) Who knows.
