The Cure will be on the Friday Night with Jonathan Ross show. Jonathan posted this on Twitter: "Am off to studio. We also have jason manford, Will Young and The Cure on ! Cool Beans."
According to TV.com, The Cure recorded their performance tonight, and it will air on Feb. 20th.

Update: The Cure played The Only One. The show will air on Feb. 20th on BBC One and BBC HD.

Two things.
ReplyDelete1. TOO is one of my least favorite Cure songs of all-time. How an otherwise brilliant girl like V could like that junk, is beyond me! :P
2. I'm sure someone will record it, probably Aaron :), but it doesn't air until Feb. 20th.
I can certainly understand the appeal of TOO, it just isn't for me.

ReplyDeleteThe Only One is the worst single from 4:13 Dream. Seriously. It's a rehash of previous Cure love songs, only with a slightly more mature view.
ReplyDeleteactually, of all 4, I find Freakshow to be the weakest single, but I wouldn't call it "worst" or "awful" as it is still a Cure song.

Also I wonder why this is being kept under wraps on the official website. One would think that this, along with the SWID performance on Carson Daly, would be/would have been posted on the news section and not just under events. Especially since the re-broadcast of World Cafe made the news section. Go figure...

Ross usually has some talk with the "Green Room" and all the guests get at least an "hello" usually at the top of the show...So probably not an interview but maybe a small section with Robert...

ReplyDeleteWithout doubt, The Only One is 4:13 Dream's weakest cut.
It's not that I don't like it, it's good, but compare to the rest of the album... yeah.
I wouldn't mind if something like All Kind of Stuff replaced it (though not right after UTS).

ReplyDeleteI think TOO is a great cure pop song. I played it to a few friends who arent massive cure fans and they really really liked it. Surely thats what the cure are about.. they started with pop songs then darker songs and then a mix. TOO is a classic cure pop song. RS has said if they only did darker songs they and everyone else would get bored... if prefer the darker ( better) stuff but TOO is like a breath of fresh air. Thats why the cure are so genius surely ? anyway , they do what they want which is why the UK NME is giving them an award.. Not just for pornography or faith or dis. but for BDC , JLH , IBD , FIIL , POU , etc etc ...pop songs. Everything basicaly... the cure without pop songs isn't the cure and i for one think TOO is refreshing pop cure... looking forward to the dark album though if there is one !

ReplyDeleteThe live Boston version of SWID was great, the single version was a disappointment (lacked power), and the album version sits somewhere in the middle. It was still my favourite of the 4 singles with Freakshow a close second. TOO and TPB were dreadful singles in my opinion - sonically better on the album, but still the two tracks I am most likely to skip. Always skip TOO, then TPB, then THANWY. Everything else is wicked, but a bit soupy.
