RE: Lovesong: "but many fans also know that the cover artwork for the single is an abstract painting done by Robert of himself and Mary, showing their faces merging."
Crikey, is this true? I thought it was done by someone called Mayo or summat - was this a pseudonym?
a big factor in choosing cure tats for me anyway is whether it will translate as a tattoo, most artists need something with fairly solid outlines to work with, my artist didn't want to tackle the pornography cover because the whole thing is so out of focus and undefined, (although Mike's artist managed) http://www.pbase.com/craigparker/image/83308838 which i'm sure is why you've never seen any disintegration tats either or Faith or Seventeen Seconds for that matter, just too abstract to reproduce on skin. And I think the Wish era CURE logo is popular because it is such a clever design, recognizable to fans but abstract to others. Cheers, Steve
That was an amazing article !! I enjoyed reading it very much, and while I'm in my fourth year of thinking about getting a tattoo, this may help me decide finally. You are as gifted with words as you are with photography, and I'm lucky to have known you and seen Cure shows with you :-)

"For many people who were first introduced to the Cure in the pre-digital era, listening to an album for the first time was a cherished ritual that included sitting in front of an actual record player (or cassette player, depending) carefully slitting the outer wrap open, and perusing the album art carefully while listening, and perhaps even reading the words along (after the initial listening session) until they had been learned by heart."
Beautifully written. The above paragraph took me back to my old room the day I got "Wish" sitting on the floor and studying the artwork and lyrics.
Jeez, Rev. You're making me want a new tattoo. First the pictures of your new awesome body art, and now an article to go with it. I know what tattoo I would get......it's deciding where on my body I want to put it. I've been trying to decide that for 10 years.
voilà un bon sujet de discusion !j'ai regarder les tatouage sur les autre page et ils sont toute très beau pis je suis même très jaloux de pas en avoir de the cure !
great little essay, rev! i love seeing people's tattoos and although i hardly ever see anybody else with a cure tattoo- when i do it makes me feel all warm and happy to know you folks are out there.
Awesome blog post rev! Your tattoo looks really cool! I'm really thinking about gettting a Cure tattoo some day & I would love to do something like you did. Your article has inspired me to start thinking about what type of design I'd like to come up with. My sister already volunteered to do the design once I decided what to do. And all I need to do is build up the nerve to go through it.
