Since I share the same name as the person who provided these pics to craig..... I thought for a minute there craig found my photobucket account and posted all of my lousy shots I got from the tour! LOL!!!
These are amazing photos. I'm assuming you had to be in first row. My question for all the hardcore Cure fans who get first row tickets that aren't on sale the first day is: How do you know if you'll even get them?
I was probably the first person to get a ticket for Toronto (since they messed up the password on the pre-sale, and I got the right one from the operator), and the best I got was Row 16. On my way to the show, a scalper had a Row 4 ticket, but it was too late. I'd spent my cash. How do you folks know if it's worth the risk to forego your ticket?
its the luck of the draw with ticketmaster. there is no rhyme or reason - AT ALL.
i got lucky with houston because the toyota center sells its own tickets - but i got 12th row during one of the pre-sales then tried again at the regular public onsale - and got row 1. totally a fluke im sure.
PRESALES MEAN NOTHING. they are no better seats than the regular on sale. its just that you get to buy the ticks on a thurs or fri rather than have to get up on saturday morning. thats IT.
i HATE broker sites - but i had to do it for NYC. best advice i guess - save your money.
For ATL I bought tix from Fucketbastard and got middle of the floor... then I snuck up front a bit later in the show.
For Austin I got tix through the venue (I think??) and just stood in line all day since it was GA. I was up front with Chris (*waves wildly) to Chris*
For Ft. Laud 7BS and I got tix through a broker. We got sixth row. Brokers suck ass but they buy up all the good tix and Cure gigs are worth selling your soul for. :-D
For Charlotte I got tix again through Ticketfucker. They weren't bad, but I bought a better floor tic from Anah (*waves to Anah, wherever she may be). I snuck up front three songs into the show.
For MSG I got tix through another broker. Tix were in the middle of the floor, but with Chris's help, I snuck up front again. :-D
Moral of the story: Get floor tix - wherever they may be - and then craftily make your way up front when lights are down (2-3 songs into the set - say, during Lovesong ;-) and security can't see you as well. Worked for moi!
I got the shittiest tickets from Ticketmaster on my first attempt. Then if anyone remembers the bullshit that happened later, I got Row 9, then bumped to Row 11. Worst company ever.
A week before I flew up to Toronto for the second time I gave up and hooked up with a seller with good feedback on eBay and he said I could buy four of his Row 4 tickets for $600 even. My friend and I sold both our pairs to scalpers and bought the new fourth row tickets... essentially $150 a piece, only $50 more than regular face value.
I'll never buy from Ticketmaster again if I plan on having amazing seats like these again.
Good to hear people's stories and know I'm not the only one who's confused. I don't think my father would let me pay online scalper prices. I remember I wanted to see U2 in 2005 and ticketmaster froze on my Safari browser. I just couldn't get it to work. What the hell's the convenience charge for if the system fails; it only works well when there's no traffic! Some woman where my father works had a husband who had 2 tickets, but he -- like a fracking dick -- wanted to sell them on ebay for $400, instead of honestly. After I told my dad it was okay, after months of haggling, she sees me in a restaurant and has the gall to tell me, "Too bad you couldn't go. It was great." What a jerk. I bet I actually knew something other than Beautiful Day, Sunday Bloody Sunday and Where The Streets Have No Name. Fucking U2. Now I'll have to sign up for the membership for $45/year. Corporate assholes.
I have to say floor was perhaps best for sound, but my view was best in Montreal. At the last minute I decided to go, and the seat was on the side, but slightly elevated from the floor so I could see above people's heads. The best part was that the bellweather fans got bored toward the end of the main set and left, so my view was awesome at that point.
I remember you, hellogeri. The Cure.com's The Suzanne was a total bitch about your problems with ticketmaster. Still, your seats weren't too bad. However, the best you can get is always more appealing.
I have to say my 16th row ticket was dead center but pretty disappointing considering I was the first to get a ticket.
What's worse is that 4th row scalped ticket probably went to waste. The guy tried to sell it to me at half price, and I got there late! The government really needs to crack down on scalpers and stop ticketmaster from getting in on the unethical action with ticketsnow.com. What a scam!

ReplyDeleteI was right on time for the Charlotte pre-sale and the best I could do was 15 rows back.
I don't freaking know what kind of connections people have.....

I've done it all. GA wait in line all day, luck of the draw, ticket brokers, fellow fans, worked my way up to the front.
ReplyDeleteOnce you go front row, it's very hard to go back to anything else.

ReplyDeleteI agree that it sucks to have to give in to the brokers for tickets, but when it comes to seeing The Cure, my motto is: BEG BORROW OR STEAL.

*jumps on her soapbox* I still maintain that there should be a test associated with buying tickets - that way only true fans can be at the front.
ReplyDeleteAnd, as per previous discussions, the COF Kittens will be responsible for developing the questions and will receive front row seats :)
Nice one Diana...Good times at the Bowl...
