Cure wedding help?

Can anyone help Shannon with this?
"I was hoping you could help me by posting this. I am getting married august 16th and i really want the organist to play the instrumental part of plainsong as i walk down the aisle. Where can i possibly find the sheet music?! Any help is much appreciated. Thanks! "

  1. It is quite easy to work out, I think if you give him the CD he'll be able to play it quickly. I'd suggest the Trilogy version.

  2. i didn't realize it was out of print, but in 1991 the tablature book for disintegration was released.

you can find it on amazon from various vendors starting at $40...

  4. this 15th of August is our 5th wedding anniversary - have a magic day

a friends Irish band did a Celtic version of Friday I'm In Love at ours (it was a Friday)

  5. Wouldn't Funeral Party be more appropriate?

  7. sorry, that sounds shite doesn't it? - a Celtic version of Friday - wasn't though - my friend Big Jim's band the Weedkillers are v.much like the Pogues - I believe the phrase used round these parts is 'it owned'

Jim overcame his deep loathing of the Cure to bellow it out too - a top pal

  8. I'm so proud of you, MonkeyButt! :')

I had the Disintegration sheet music book at one point, but I don't know exactly where it is now. :( If I can find it, I'd be happy to pass it along to Shannon, though I don't know if I'll find it in time for her wedding!

  9. Clockwise: When I was in 8th/9th grade, I decided that I wanted "Funeral Party" to be my wedding march! Hahaha! ;) It seemed like such a good idea at the time...

  10. Is it possibly on the old Cure site archive? I know there was sheet music listed on there but I don't remember if Plainsong was one of the songs.

    BTW - Aug 16th is a great day! It's my b-day.

I hope you have a wonderful day, I love the bit in Marie Antoinette in the coronation when they play Plainsong....ahhhhhh

  20. Yes I've heard on a number of occasions of Cure fans using Plainsong for walking down the aisle at weddings. Another favourite is the rather upbeat FIIL b-side "Halo" when the newly married couple are leaving the church. The lyrics and mood fit perfectly.

  21. For my wedding we played Hell's Bells.

  22. If it does not come soon here is the music sheet for plainsong that I scanned: http://www.sendspace.com/file/roafhz

  23. Can't help you with sheet music, but my friend made a loop of the opening for my wedding a few years ago. I could burn you a copy of that. We walked in to Plainsong instrumental loop and walked out to Halo.

  24. I noticed that you already bought the sheet music, but I'll say anyway that I have the tablature book for the Disintegration album.

  25. Hi...

I would strongly suggest contacting Roger via his Myspace. He is a very nice guy and would probably help you out with the tabs as well as the sounds used... especially since one of his favourite things to do is talk about how easy the cure synth parts were!

Also, since you ordered the tab book, I would also give the organist the song on CD to listen to as well, just as the others suggested; remember, tab books are not written by the band so they are off, very off, sometimes and don't give the feel of the songs.

  26. I used it for my wedding/walk down the aisle. My DJ had it looped...(I walked so fast it ended up useless to loop, but, was grand)!

  27. jeez - and here i am all boring with my canon and ode to joy.

sheesh. what kind of cure fan am i?

*hangs head in shame...and weeps quietly...alone...in the rain*

  28. Christina - I walked in to Cannon as well, have no idea what I walked out to.

But seriously, if anyone should be hanging their head in shame, it is ME!!! My bridal waltz was to Groovy Kind of Love - BLAH!!! Granted this was over 16 years ago, but it is still embarrassing.

  29. For my wedding waltz we played Heroin Face.

  30. Cat - if I had my time again, I'd probably go with Meathook :)

  31. there are software programs that will take a midi file and score sheet music for you...
    quickie from google:
    http://www.skytopia.com/project/articles/notation.html

you can grab the midi from here:

    http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Basement/9964/curemidi.htm

this would be better than the sheet music... a competent piano player may be able to play a bass/melody part simultaneously and give it a bit fuller sound.

  32. We had a trio (piano, sax, upright bass) for our wedding ceremony. We gave them the sheet music and two recordings of Just Like Heaven: the album version and the strings version from the Whisper CD.

They created a custom arrangement for my aisle walk. It was absolutely beautiful.
