Roger Daltrey on Robert Smith

From Rolling Stone (via NME): "Robert Smith doesn't answer his emails," Daltrey said with a laugh. "He's hard to get hold of, but I remember them playing in 2006 and they did a three-hour set which was just magical. Robert lives around the corner from me, although I've never seen him, nor have his neighbors. I think he must only come out at night."

And for those who still insist the news is fake, a hoax, a 4:13 Nightmare, sorry, Rolling Stone says they have confirmed it.

Now that we have that out of the way, details about the album are starting to surface! Sounds awesome, bro! Fuck Goth Tom! ;) (Thanks Raphael and @mlindenuk)

Promoter statement about RAH tickets

From TheCure.com, Facebook (sorry, SPACEBOOK) and Twitter:

OUR PROMOTER TELLS US:
Both Cure RAH shows for TCT are SOLD OUT! However, agents may return odd tickets as they sweep for touts/multiple bookings; so periodically over the next week or so tickets will likely appear on either gigsandtours.com or Ticketmaster.com. Also, nearer the dates of the shows some 'debenture holders' will probably donate their seats to the charity, meaning a few more tickets will appear for sale in March, right up until the day of the show. I’m letting you know this not because we need to publicise, but just in case you wonder why every now and then someone is able to buy a ticket and posts about it on Facebook! Please keep checking back with gigsandtours, and thank you again for your wonderful support of Teenage Cancer Trust.

On a related note, article in the Daily Mail about the touts and their cashing in. (Thanks @AaronLaw92)

'Greatest Hits' climbing the UK charts

Well this one is a bit odd, but it seems 'Greatest Hits' has re-enterd the UK album chart and is doing quite well. It re-entered at #72 a few weeks ago, and has now climbed to #37. Its highest previous position was #33 in its original release week. Anyone have any idea about this? Cure getting a lot of UK radio play suddenly? Featured in some TV shows? (Thanks Matt)

Update: The reason why it's doing so well looks to be due to Tesco selling it for 75p. (Thanks mangosteensoundcorporation)

Update (Feb. 4th, 2014): Drops to #45 this week. (Thanks Matt)

Update (Feb. 10th, 2014): Holds at #45 this week. (Thanks Aaron)

Update (Feb. 17th, 2014): Up to #43 this week. (Thanks Aaron)

Update (March 5th, 2014): Went up to #35 last week, now drops to #38 this week. (Thanks Aaron)

Update (March 10th, 2014): Drops to #41 this week. (Thanks Aaron)

A Cure fan at the NY Times?

With a headline like this, "Loehmann’s, Out of Step and Closing Down", I'm going to have to say yes! If not, that's a hell of a coincidence. (Thanks @magicjewball)

Roger Interview on Pharmacy Radio

Really nice interview with Roger on Pharmacy Radio. It's broken into 3 parts, and they start at 6m48s, 24m42s and 47m10s. Roger's favorite song to play live - 'Like Cockatoos'. Favorite song he played on - 'Prayers For Rain' or 'Same Deep Water As You'. Favorite Cure song to just listen to - 'All Cats Are Grey'.
(Thanks Sascha)

Can Roger be allowed to put together the setlists from now on? Or at least let the man play his favorite songs more often? :)

First Cure show rumor for 2014 - Hungary?

The first rumor of a Cure show in 2014 comes from Recorder in Hungary. It says The Cure may play a festival there between July 14th - 20th. Goes without saying, but this is nothing more than a rumor and not confirmed. In fact, the promoter has denied there are any negotiations with the band. (Thanks Mars and Jorge)
