Cure to play Riot Fest Toronto, Chicago, Denver

The Cure will be playing Riot Fest in Toronto (Sept. 6th - 7th), Chicago (Sept. 12th - 14th), and Denver (Sept. 19th - 21st). Tickets on sale now - Toronto / Chicago / Denver.

The limited number of cheaper 3 day passes went fast! Prices keep rising. Toronto is now $180, Chicago is $180, Denver is $160.

Will there be single day passes? Last year, there were. For Chicago, they didn't go on sale until late July, when they announced the daily lineup. They were $60 each day. No guarantees for this year, but it seems likely.

The much more important question? Will there be some Cure solo shows between each weekend of these festivals? They did it last year for ACL, so fingers crossed for some more this year.

Info now posted on the official site.

Update (05/15/14):  They've just announced 10 Years, 10 Essential Albums Played Live for Denver & Chicago. 10 bands playing their essential albums in their entirety. 9 bands announced, 1 left. How about The Cure doing 'Pornography'? It would certainly fit the spirit of the festival. Just wishful thinking right now.

  2. It looks like tickets have been on sale for a while, considering that the prices have almost doubled. Was The Cure's participation just confirmed?

    1. For Toronto? Yeah, the initial lineup had already been announced. Cure were just added tonight.

    2. I'm going to wait on one day tickets to go on sale. I'm not going to spend $180 or more to see a bunch of bands in whom I have little or no interest.

  5. I wish there were stand-alone shows for us non-festival goers in the US. Wishful thinking at this point!

    1. I think there's at least some hope of solo shows between these festivals. They added some last year between the two weekends of ACL, so maybe a couple between each of the Riotfest weekends? Can't imagine them flying back and forth that much.

But maybe they have other plans while here?

    1. Daily lineups haven't been announced yet. Same with 1 day passes, but they will most likely be available at a later date.

Last year, the Chicago single day passes & daily lineups were announced in late July.

    2. Craig, how much were they? I'm not going to hit up Chicago, but this may give me an idea of what to expect for Toronto.

  14. Not really related, I just found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-2009-THE-CURE-BAND-SIGNED-AUTOGRAPHED-GUITAR-X3-ROBERT-SMITH-PORL-SIMON-/191168783110?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c828c2306

    "SIGNED BY
ROBERT SMITH WHO ADDED SOME SORT OF INSCRIPTION AFTER HIS SIGNATURE"

The inscription is "huh?". I wonder if this is the guitar that RS wrote about in ht blog once... telling people not to buy it.

    2. I think it's a bit early for exact details just yet. We don't even know the day and time The Cure are playing. The show is 4 months away, and schedules won't be announced until July.

Don't worry, though. As soon as Kamar has everything finalized, I'll post it on the front page.

probably the reason why the cure mainly play festivals these days

  19. Seems hard to imagine the Cure will pass up on the chance to play an entire album! Fingers crossed for Denver!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wouldn't the entire albums be for albums that are 10 years old? Anyone want to hear self-titled in full?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No. Riot Fest is 10 years old. The albums can be any age. Essential albums, not albums that are 10 years old.

  21. So I'm holding out for single day tickets on sale later to save money on ticket prices and only go for The Cure. But until the day schedule is out, I don't want to make plans to go to Chicago or Denver. I wouldn't be able to go if it were on a Friday. :(

  22. Is RiotFest reveal the left band soon?

Due to the mistery I think is a good chance of that band is CURE.

    Well, wishful thinking too.
