Keeping an eye on Flossie

Tropical Storm Flossie is starting to become a problem for fans traveling to the Honolulu show, as Tropical Storm watches & warnings have been posted for the islands, and flights are being cancelled.
If you're traveling today, be sure to check with your airline and see what your status is, and if you can move your flight to an earlier or later time. As soon as I hear anything about the show going on or being canceled/postponed, I'll post ASAP. Good luck, safe travels, and let's all keep our fingers crossed that it all works out.

Latest update: And now an earthquake, just for fun. From the Weather Channel - "As if weren't enough, a 3.5 struck near coast of Oahu, 19 mi E of Honolulu at 10:30am HST (54 min ago)." But in better news, the band have arrived safely in Honolulu! On with the show!

Remember how good things looked this morning? Yeah, not so much now. Have heard of 4 more flight cancellations, including Autumn's, Sarah's, and Chris'. Not good. :(
And this from Darrell in Honolulu: "And now to make things worse, the storm has shifted north, and slowed down a bit. The new track has it coming directly over US now!"

As of now, the show is still on, and the worst of the weather looks like it will be gone before the show starts. Last I heard, the band were on their way. Olivier has made it there safely, so expect his live coverage from the show. Jay has been there for a few days, torturing me with beautiful beach photos from his balcony, so he's good. Good luck & safe travels to all fans heading there today.

Keep an eye on the National Weather Service in Honolulu and Hawaii News Now for the latest on the storm. (Thanks Darrell)

    1. Neither. Just a tropical storm. With a really dumb name. :)

You should only be frightened of her if she causes your flight to be canceled.

  2. Sad for Sarah. Where was she travelling from and what airline? And was she able to reschedule another flight? Hope so!

  3. I am also curious as to if she had a layover in Kona, Hilo or Kahalui, all three on the Big Island and Maui. That would make sense then.

  4. Also just got this little vote of confidence from BampProject:

Aloha! Everything will happen as it should. The show must go on!

  5. I hope everyone makes to the islands safely - the show will be awesome.

The Cure affects Mother Nature in mysterious ways.... an earthquake in Mexico, a tropical storm in Hawaii..... what will ACL bring?

  7. It's looking worse for the Big Island and Maui, so as long as the band flies straight to HNL they should be OK. Plus, after watching 10 inches of rain dump from the sky in one day, I think Prayers for Rain will take on new meaning. It will be a great show! I hope all you lucky folks have a wonderful experience! Now...I just need to hope that the band makes it to Chicago in time for Lolla!

  8. Craig, judging by what I can see, it should be well past Honolulu by tomorrow, so it'll be wet but it should be fine.

    1. Yeah, the show itself has never been in doubt. The question is about the flights heading in today. Some might have to hope to fly in Tuesday and try to make it there in time.

  9. Incredibly sad for those facing cancelled flights - it is one thing to have to decide not to go - and quite another to have the weather and the airlines decide for you!
