(Thanks @weekendbernie and Andreas)
Danny Lohner is working on a remix of 'Apart' for the 'Underworld: Awakening' movie soundtrack: dannylohner - i still can't get over the fact that when i solo the vocal channel- i hear Robert Smith serenading me a capella?!
As you might remember, The Cure also appeared on the Underworld: Rise of the Lycans soundtrack, with 'Underneath the Stars (Renholder remix)'.
Update (12-14):dannylohner - 2nd b-day spent remixing THE CURE! i remxd UnderneathTheStars 4the last Underworld sndtrk w
Update (12-31): NME and Film Music Reporter have reports about this. (Thanks Dom)
Update (01-06): Hear a sample at Amazon and another one here. (Thanks TheCure-Collector)
Update (01-17): Out now at Amazon, iTunes, and all of the usual places.
awesome! a mighty fine tune.
ReplyDeleteNo Mila this time! That Underneath the Stars remix would have been amazing if other vocals hadn't been added. The vocals added nothing to the song.
ReplyDeleteHowever... 'Apart' would be a better candidate for added female vocal... just not her... please!
One of my absolute favorite songs; whoever chose it has good taste!
ReplyDeletewhit porl thompson?
ReplyDeletebad remix of a bad track for a bad movie, i suppose ! you can give them, Robert. No regrets.
ReplyDeleteOmg you couldnt be more wrong
DeleteI really don't know you can call something bad when you've never even heard it.
ReplyDeleteApparently Fran got an advanced screening of the film too. How come the super negative ones get the advances?! ;)
ReplyDeleteI suppose Fran was rather speaking of the previous 'underneath the stars remix'?
ReplyDeleteU4 YES !!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the news :)

ReplyDeleteI actally think from the couple of tasters we've heard that he's done a really good and respectful job with the original parts and his parts
ReplyDeletegood!
ReplyDeleteYoutube sample is great! I wish Cure was remixed more.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone's interested, the Tribute to The Cure night at l'Usine, Geneva, last friday was recorded by someone, sound is not very good, but if you are curious...

ReplyDeleteFrom the preview in iTunes it sounds great, unfortunately it's an "album only" option. Hopefully this will change, as I can't bring myself to buy something with Linkin Park, Evanescence and a bunch of other people I've never heard of on it. Even for the Cure :-P
ReplyDeleteagreed with Adam
ReplyDeleteListening to it now. It's got a nice slow "Burn" quality to it. Can't wait for more Cure 2012 news!
ReplyDeleteBut I don't want to pay ten dollars for one song.
ReplyDeleteI did buy it. 12 dollars. A very good remix, love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat I've heard so far of the rest of the album is pretty annoying.
this guy gets paid for remixing?? i think the original is a great track but this new version adds nothing new for me.
ReplyDeleteits just OK. probably works in the context of the film [which i will probably not watch, i have missed most of the other parts and will no doubt be unable to follow the complex stotylines] unlikely to buy or listen to again. if it brings in new listeners to the cure fair enough.

ReplyDeleteAs far as Cure remixes go, this one's pretty good.
ReplyDeleteI already told you I personally approve of this remix. And everything is always about me all of the time.
ReplyDeletewell if thats the case - i love it.its nice.
ReplyDeleteI really love this mix - the way Robert's voice floats over the top of everything is just beautiful. He sounds so raw and emotional, it gives me the shivers to listen to...
ReplyDeletesomeone's got this mixer email ? love his mix and 'd luv to get in touch.
